Hal quietly scanned the area around him as he waited for a response from the other student. He noted that there was no one around. He could see a few people from afar but they were obviously minding their own business and had nothing to do with him or the guy sitting next to him. More specifically, next to his unconscious body.

But there was no audible response. Hal looked back at the student again to see him only sitting there casually with his arms crossed in front of him Considering Hal had just explained his situation already (sort of), he wasn't just waiting curiously for what to happen within the next few minutes, was he? Did this guy actually properly wanted to talk to him?

Scribbling on another leaf he had picked out, he wrote: "why are you here though?" and then passing on the said leaf for the student to read.

Shinji sat patiently on the bench near the unconscious body of the hazy entity in front of him. His mood was very chill and at the moment no one could even remove him from this mood. The bench was surprisingly comfy as well as the climate outside at this time. Shinji looked at the haze periodically to see if it was changing in anyways but usually it was exactly the same until it once again moved. Writing out another message on a large flat leaf with a thorn. Handing it over to Shinji, he looked down at it and read it. "Why are you here though?" It read. "Why am I here?" Shinji said aloud.

Looking up to the him, Shinji sat up and began to talk. "There are multiple reasons why I'm here." A slight pause came about after this first sentence. "For one, Its polite to have a proper conversation with someone upon meeting them. It would be rude to just see you in this form and then keep on casually walking by. Secondly, I am kind of interested in your ability, whatever it may be." All the while saying this, Shinji made multiple hand motions and gesture for no reason at all. He took a breath afterwards and leaned back on the bench. Surely they had wasted at least 5 minutes by now, right?

Hal simply just looked at the boy as he read out the leaf message. It was difficult to write on leaves, and he would have written more, but there wasn't much of a point in putting too much effort if he could just say it later, assuming this other guy would stay even after he's regained control of his physical body.

Which was apparently exactly the case, as this student explained... rather dynamically. It was, admittedly, a bit distracting and almost kind of amusing. Hal sighed. It's apparent that it would be better if time would pass quickly to get this over with. Hal looked at his wrist watch. A good 7 minutes already passed from last time he checked. He paused to think. Has it really been than long? He didn't really notice. Writing probably took a few seconds out of his time but probably so was thinking up for solutions for this sitution.

He hummed as he walked towards his physical body and brushes his hand on his physical body's head, jerking it back as soon as little static sparked up. He clicked his tongue, "There's still some friction huh?" He figures it would be okay to attempt going back but if there was too much friction, he'll be completely knocked out for a while longer.

Hal went to get another leaf and wrote, "sorry if you have to wait this long."

The day seemed to move by slowly, everything taking its marry time trying to live out their short lived lives. Even the clouds seemed as if they weren't even moving. The boy in front of Shinji walked over to his body and touched his own head. Of course to Shinji, it was nothing but a thick, misty haze just shifting through the air. Following the boy intently with his eyes, Shinji watched the outcome of him touching his head. "Sparks" Shinji said to himself. "I wonder why that just happened. Is that supposed to happen?" He asked himself. So many questions appeared in his head, but those would be conversation for another time as they still haven't even properly met one another.

Soon after making sparks on his own head from the mere contact that he made with his body, the boy went to another leaf. These leaf message's became the most used form of talking to one another. Almost like texting for nature itself. He handed another leaf to Shinji. Reading its contents, Shinji looked at the hazy figure of the boy and nodded. "It's no problem, I have enough patience to wait, I guess. It's not like I am really doing anything right now." He said looking up to where the boy's head would be, in the the figure that he currently had, from where he was on the bench. It was a wonder that Shinji could even see him at all. Though, as time passed by rather slowly to Shinji, he became more and more curious on how he boy was actually doing this. His curiosity was starting to get to him.

Hal gave out a long sigh. Despite the boy's assurance, Hal felt like it wasn't fair for him to wait out so long. The guilt was starting to get to him even though he shouldn't even be feeling so. After all, it wasn't Hal who had asked him to stay and wait for him, right? He shouldn't be feeling upset with himself, then. But still, it was hard to convince himself otherwise.

His gaze moved towards the few leaves he'd used up already from trying to communicate with the other boy. It wasn't that much yet, he supposes, but he'll make sure to clear those out later on. It wasn't so much as littering than leaving leaves with words out in the open for other people to probably find later on. Picking out another leaf, he wrote down, almost a little hurriedly, "i'm not good at this thing with my powers yet so this really happens. ha ha."

Hal looked at the leaf for a moment and debated whether that was a smart thing to tell the guy. He blinked a couple of times in thought before finally deciding he'd just go with whatever. Shrugging his shoulders, Hal handed the leaf to the boy at the bench.

As Shinji began to fill his thoughts with questions of the boy's abilities, he also thought of other ways to use his own powers. One of which he always wanted to try ever since he was told how it works in his 8th grade science class. "Reverse Polarity..." He said within his thoughts. "Might come in handy a some day, but I still have to figure out how to use it." He thought. Shinji was staring off into the distance as he thought this because he became oblivious to anything other than said thoughts. He was only thinking about what was happening internally rather than what was happening around him outside of his body and mind.

Soon enough the boy picked up yet another leaf for the sake of communication. To Shinji, this seemed to be the most efficient way to talk as of now without having to gather too many supplies. But as he thought on, he realized how annoying this may have been for the boy that is actually writing the notes on the leaves. There was really no way for them to talk otherwise so I guess they would have to deal with it for the time being. Without using up a lot of time the boy gave Shinji the leaf that he had written the most recent note on. It read, "I'm not good at this thing with my powers yet so this really happens. Ha ha." Shinji smiled a little. "It's not a problem, I'm pretty sure that a good majority of the attendants here are having the same problems with their abilities. not to mention myself." Shinji said reassuringly so that the boy wouldn't feel like a nuisance. "By the way, What is your name? It would seem rude if I referred to you as student, boy, etc." Shinji asked. He didn't want to be rude especially since he didn't even know him.

As Hal just watched the boy as he read his note and it struck him that he hasn't actually even introduced himself properly. He had been planing to introduce himself later when he could talk-- or more accurately, when the other boy could hear him but then that was taking a while.

Hal was pulled back to reality as he heard the other boy speak again. He went on his own internal monologue about him having been in the school for over 2 years and still not having done anything worth noting. His progress was slow and it was making him frustrated. It wasn't enough that he probably had another ability he hasn't even explored yet. He still isn't sure what it could be but that was the only thing he knows about it — he can short out anything that uses electricity. So far he tried his best to keep away from anything that he could accidentally short out.

As if his brain stopped working for a moment, he stared blankly at the boy on the bench. As if he was catching up to what the other student had just said. He went to pick another leaf and wrote down, "you can call me Hal. what about you?", and handed it over as soon as he finished writing.

In waiting for the boy's reply, Shinji continued his thoughts on his abilities. Things such as what he should learn first, how long it would take to learn it and what may be an accessory to such things. Everything went into consideration with his thoughts and nothing was really left behind unless it was stupid and pointless. He would have to figure out how to stay away from magnetic objects and fields or at least learn to control himself while near such things. Though he was good at controlling his powers thus far, Shinji still had a lot to learn about what he can do. There were so many possibilities.

Interrupting his thoughts, the boy handed Shinji yet another leaf with a message inscribed to it. "So his name is Hal." Shinji thought as he read the note. "Well it's nice to meet you Hal, my name is Shinji." he said in reply. Shinji figured that it was way better to know his name ahead of time than to steadily call him boy. That was rather rude even if Shinji was only saying it in his thoughts. "Do you know how much longer you have?" Shinji asked afterwards. he was curious because time seemed to be moving slow for him now but maybe it was the exact opposite. He asked Hal if he knew because he was able to tell him that he had 10 minutes before so obviously he had some way to tell time.

While waiting for the next reply, Shinji began to get sucked back into his own thoughts once more. "Lets see how this works." he said in his head as he put both palms close together but not touching. Letting out small pulses of electricity, he tried to make his own electromagnetic field. If he was able to do this, he would be able to use it to push objects or people away from him in times of danger or need. Though this would need a lot more practice he continued trying. Nothing really happened, just small sparks falling from his palms. Even with this, Shinji kept trying in this time that he awaited a response.

Hal nodded to himself. Shinji, huh. He's going to take a guess he's from Asia. Japan probably? He can't tell, he's not very familiar with names and place designations or whatnot. Either way, he's relieved to know his name now for one and he doesn't have to always refer to him as "that guy" in his head and worry for nothing.

Shinji then asked him again about how much time he had left. He looked at his wristwatch again and he estimated he had around one minute, more or less, before he'll be in the clear. Sighing in relief, he turned to pick out another leaf to write on. Hal wrote, "nice to meet you too. just one more minute" and handed the leaf to Shinji just as soon as he was done writing and then right after that, he went and picked out another leaf and wrote down "just to be sure"

As he handed the leaves though, Hal could have sworn he felt a weak pulse as his hand reached out close to Shinji. It was very weak but Hal could somehow feel the minuscule vibrations. For Hal, it felt like it was simply flowing through him like so it wasn't easy to confirm — but he was aware it was the same feeling he always gets when he shorts out electronics. He could only wonder if Shinji was behind this pulse...

Still sitting and waiting, Shinji yawned. He wasn't necessarily feeling tired as in he wanted to sleep but more or less bored. He was just sitting around and relaxing was never one of his best subjects for longer periods of time. Within his mind, he made plans to check out the gymnasium or what not where the power classes would take place. He still had a lot to try and learn about his powers but first he had someone to properly meet. Its only polite to greet someone that you have just met with a proper hand shake or small chat. Either way, he was still waiting on the reply for the previous question he had.

Just after yawning and making the previously mentioned plans, Hal had given him the first left explaining that it was nice to meet Shinji as well and that there was about another minute left before he could return to his body. Shinji sighed a small sigh of relief. Once again, another leaf had floated his way courtesy of his new acquaintance Hal. "Just to be sure" it said.
