The DSU meeting was over.

It wasn't a very outstanding meeting. Finals were coming up, so the club was scaling back its activities for now. Chloe did her obligatory plug for the dark magic related summer programs (it still wasn't too late to sign up!) and talked about a few upcoming social gatherings.

They spent most of the rest of the meeting talking about closeted demons, who were demons who could pass as human and chose not to let many people know what they really were. Some of those kinds of demons were in attendance. There were some comparisons made with the LGBT community's 'closeting,' and all in all it turned out to be a mind-opening discussion.

Now it was over. Most of the cookies Chloe brought this time had been depleted, and nobody had complained about the traditional single oatmeal raisin cookie among the chocolate chips yet. She gathered herself, reminding herself that she had just finished talking in front of a bunch of people so one cute guy shouldn't be so intimidating, and walked over to Milo.

"I'm glad you could make it, Milo! Have you had any cookies yet?"

Most of the rest of the students were already filing out.

Milo was impressed by Chloe. Though he happened to know of (and not quite have fond feeling towards) her father, he'd heard of her through the existence of the Demonic Student Union first. He'd liked the sound of it then, and that had been throughly settled in him now that he'd actually attended a meeting. He appreciated the sentiments of what they wanted to do, and he even found himself mentally noting down the dark magic summer programs Chloe had mentioned for the sake of his childhood best friend- who obsessed over such things, amateur dark lord that he was.

Although he'd gotten a few looks from the regular members when he'd arrived, some suspicious, some curious, he felt comfortable enough here. He'd never heard of Fae and demons being enemies. In some areas, they were highly similar, and even mistaken for each other. It was interesting to him.

The topic of the meeting had kept his interest as well. He'd contributed easily, getting into the flow of it, even a little heated, although he tried to keep that under control as to not spook anyone. He wasn't sure how much he'd succeeded there. He knew he was… a lot, when he really got going. For someone who came off as quieter and thoughtful at first, and added into his already intimidating appearance, well. At least nobody could try to claim he wasn't actually passionate, and act like the ideals he expressed when running were false.

Chloe approached him after everything was done and they were about to have more privacy. Although she only came up to around his shoulders, he found her to be a decently striking person, and the traces of magic surrounding her were unique. Milo nodded to her. "Of course, thank you for the invitation. Just one. Oatmeal raisin? It's nice of you to put those out, though most are rather repulsed by those cookies in particular, so I was a little surprised by the choice. I don't mind them." He wasn't weak.

Chloe blinked at the mention of the cookie. She had a weird smile on her face. "I'm... glad you appreciated it," she said. She didn't feel like explaining the running joke about the cookie lottery.

"Anyway, I hope you can agree we have a pretty good operation going here," she went on. "You've probably seen our fund raisers and a couple of our awareness campaigns. I hear that there's been a lot fewer complaints from the demon kids about getting bullied this year."

It was up for debate whether this had more to do with the awareness campaigns or the fact that some of them had a posse to protect them now. Either way, it was an improvement.

"But, uh, when we say those fund-raisers forward most of the proceeds to charity, we mean every dollar of profit. We only keep enough of it to do the next fundraiser. We're pretty hungry for school funds."

And so Chloe's ulterior motive for inviting him here revealed itself. It couldn't have been too surprising.

After adapting a lifestyle of hunting down the lowest of criminals that the cops couldn't touch, picking out suspicious signs and going on strong instinct, Milo tended to know when something was up. Hell, he hardly needed all those overdramatic sounding qualifications to see when he was getting a blink and weird smile over cookies. He'd find out the cookie secrets eventually, it was just a matter of time, but would leave it alone for now.

He nodded. "I do agree. Very good. I've seen, though not attended. I wasn't quite so involved in school last year, though that's clearly changed. Awareness campaigns, those I did take an interest in where I could. I like learning about people and other species." He furrowed his brows, sighing and rubbing at his temples a bit. "Having gone from having a full handful of discrimination to worry about to… a whole other mixed bag of it is agitating. But Manta Carlos, at least, is a place where being active with such things seems to actively impact your surroundings. There's more hope here, and people can feel it. That's real nice. Not going to let that kind of opportunity pass me by."

He really wasn't. He had a lot more of an advantage and chance here than he'd had in his shitty, middle of nowhere hometown in America or the places he'd traveled to as a drifter experimenting with newfound freedom. It wasn't like he'd ever considered himself weak, but here, he could do so much more, and for the sake of those who couldn't. That made him feel better about… a lot of things.

Chloe got to the point. It wasn't exactly surprising to Milo, when he thought about it, but it was a little surreal. He wasn't sure he'd registered having made enough of an impact to be approached on this sort of issue with a confidence he could help. That meant he was doing well, didn't it? He was quiet for a moment while processing and settling this in his mind, only adding more to the fire in terms of his ambition to win.

He smiled. "I'll keep it in mind, absolutely. This is a valuable organization you have, hard to replace or see the school without, and it has weight. I'll put it on my priority list, even. Definitely fits the bill for my standards there." Then, he tilted his head. "Is that all you wanted to bring up? I would've come away with the same interests either way, but I appreciate it when others are upfront with me about their needs and plans, so I can best help- so, thank you."
