It was cold and wet. Her feet pattered in the mud as she ran. They made her almost glide over the surface, like some figure skater. She was fast and agile. Claire rarely ever fell, or missed an opportunity to vault and push off of trees, rocks and anything else she could get a good footing on. She panted softly as she pushed herself further. It was storming out, the black sky booming over her. Not that this fact mattered to her, but she wanted to get home. Storms were her favorite type of weather, as they offered so much to look at. On a different day, Claire would have climbed up into a tree to watch it all, but today; she felt like she was being watched. Not only felt, but had seen something lingering behind her, waiting for the right moment to strike. It was stalking her, and she hated it. As her eyes peered around, she knew that she wasn't going to make it in time. Closing her eyes for a few short moments, she tried to summon any animal that was even remotely close to her. She waited. Nothing. Fuck.

Claire, being the brave little spark plug she was stopped in her tracks. With a few huffs, she calmed herself down, as there was nothing to be afraid of. It was most likely just some creep wanting her. With a few seconds for her to compose her muddy and somewhat tired body, she unsheathed her knife. Her eyes darted right and left to ensure that this thing wasn't already too close. "Come and get me, stop hiding like some asshole!" She shivered as the rain drenched her. The knife was in the proper holding position, as well as it lingered around her chest area. Claire was ready. If this was going to be the wolf girl's last stand, it would be a memorable one.

Wess was normally much stealthier than this, or maybe it was that this girl was abnormal. She hadn't just wandered in here, lost and scared. He wasn't even certain she was fully scared. Then, she stopped and looked around. She called the creature out to fight her, but Wesley didn't fight people head on.

Instead, the Wendigo held his breath, keeping from hissing and slunk around the perimeter, trying to get behind her before she shot out from the canopy of trees, claws outstretched to catch her and throw her to the ground. He bit at any skin he could see, so close to the smell of sweet flesh. Women, as far as Wesley knew, were the weaker sex. They tended to be easier to eat. That had been true thus far in his life.

The forest was eerie in its silence. It was always this way when Wess was on the hunt because animals knew when there was danger and they hid far away from the Wendigo prowling the darkness in search of supple flesh.

In a matter of seconds, the sweet silence that had filled the air turned into a dreaded feeling. This thing was too fast for her, like some unrelenting force that definitely wasn't going to stop. Claire hit ground hard, though the weight that held her down wasn't heavy, but demanding. The thing bit at her, which made Claire shriek in pain. It hurt, and he for sure had drawn too much blood for her liking. Was this the end for her? It sure seemed like it, as this beast was determined to kill her, to tear her apart bit by bit. It hurt, and it seemed so easy to just give up right then and there; but that wasn't her.

Claire was a fighter. She created a small amount of space in between them, as she drove her knife into his shoulder. Of course, she had wanted to aim for his heart, but the creature was much larger in height that her own body. The wolf girl yanked it to the right as it drew deeper into him. She wanted to kill this fool beast if it meant her dying in the process too. With her other had, she was going to use her other power. Gathering up all the water around them, for a split second neither of them would feel any drops of water, before, with the help of the water, Claire shoved the beast to the side.

The force alone was enough to knock someone back 4 meters, so Claire kept the thing down as best she could by getting on top of him. Even though this seemed like a victory, she had a feeling that it would be short lived. In the rotation, the knife had hit the ground and gotten cut out of the beast. It was laying to her left, bloody and withered. The grip of the knife was loose in her hand, but the didn't stop her. Claire forced the water down hard on his ankles and wrists, her drive to live becoming rather undying. "You monster, you thought you could get me?"

Wesley was used to teeth and claws. He was used to people fighting him, so the knife cutting from one shoulder to the next didn't put him off. He only fought harder, pushed closer. Blood and mud matted his fur, added to his stink, and helped to make him appear more bestial than human.

Now, what Wess didn't expect was the water and how it pinned him down. He'd never had that happen, and he didn't have much chance to fight it before the girl was straddling him and speaking again. Wesley's head was all manners of fuzzy and it was hard for him to focus when she was so close, and his stomach was churning with need. She was bleeding, and God did she smell sweet.

All Wess could do was blink. Well, he'd made a right mess, this time, hadn't he? He wasn't nervous about her killing him, but the guilt made him want to vomit.

"Sorry," Wesley said, voice hoarse and soft. "I was hungry, and you were runnin'. Didn't mean to take a bite outta ya."

The silence between them was rather scary; that was the only part that she wasn't sure about. Was he going to try to lash out and kill her? Perhaps maybe try to sweet talk his way out of it, that was, if it could talk. Though, it seemed like her first statement had been correct. As he spoke though, she kept a stern look on her face, her desire to kill him on wavering. Claire only stared at him, grumbling meaningless words to herself as her hand fumbled effortlessly with the knife.

"So? What do you want me to do about it?" He was hideous, which was saying something considering she usually didn't care about looks. "Do you think a sorry is going to fix what you did to me?" She stretched out her shirt to show the rather large bites on her shoulder, neck, and upper arm; all of it was red. "I don't give a shit if you're sorry. Sorry doesn't do anything in this wild for monsters like you." Her eyes her heartless, which was what she had learned to act like after her lifetime of disappointment and heartaches. She stabbed him again, this time staring the beast in the eyes. "I don't forgive so easily." She ushered, as the statement that he was hungry made her ponder.

Claire stood, keeping the water gripped on him, even though her head was beyond hurting from the exertion. Putting her fingers in her mouth, she did a very high pitch whistle; a signal that her best friend would be able to hear as long as he was in the forest. It took a few minutes, to while Claire tried not to passed out as she rubbed her temples and ignored anything the beast said to her. It wasn't human, so it didn't matter right? The large wolf named Attel ran towards her, growling as he spotted the beast. Unfortunately, the second Attel was close enough to her, she collapsed onto his side like a rag doll; leaving the Wendigo free to move around once more.

Wess wasn't an emotional guy; he'd never been. Friendly and sweet, yes, but never emotional. That had only gotten truer the longer he remained a Wendigo. He felt it was only fair when she stabbed him again, even if it made him suck in a harsh, ragged breath. Wesley could take a lot of damage, but that didn't mean the stabbing didn't hurt.

Wess was not about to beg for his life, nor was he going to taunt her into hurting him more. He stared at her, listened as she spoke. She reminded him of a wild animal, and he could appreciate that about her. And after she got off him for some reason, and proceeded to ignore him, Wess figured he still ought to warn her.

"In six hours, you won't be feeling so good. My bite induces a fever." Then the wolf came, and the girl fainted, leaving Wesley free. He jumped up. Had he been the one to make her faint? He eyed the wolf, glad for its presence. It kept him from losing control again at the girl's weakened state.

Wess rubbed the bloody gash on his chest before looking up at the wolf again. It was larger than normal, and he knew it didn't originate from this forest. Could it speak? Better yet, could it understand him? Only one way to find out.

"What are ya gonna do?" His move. The ball was in their court.

Attel glared at the beast, pretty much deciding that it was a foe to Claire and him. His green eyes kept their gaze on the wendigo, before Attel moved a bit away, grabbed Claire by the shirt collar, and placed her against a rock. She deserved to rest. Though, once that was done, the 6 foot something wolf patted over and watched the beast. He observed, without uttering a word, even long after the thing had talked.

"Is that supposed to mean something to me?" His husky sounding wolf voice echoed onto the trees around them. "Why do you care about what I do beast." The furry beast grumbled eagerly. "You injured my queen and best friend, therefore you should be sentenced to death." He paused as he showed his teeth. "Though, I know what you are, so I know exactly what you were doing." He snarled as he half shook his head. "I will give you one chance to prove yourself to me and to her, before I have the entire forest after you." The look in his eyes was not going to change, as he was dead serious.

Wess shook his head at the wolf, at the way he bore his teeth in warning. The threats. Wess didn't feel threatened, though, nor did he bristle at the apparent show of dominance. Wesley wasn't a dominant man. He was sweet and gentle when he could help it.

"What do you want me to do?" he asked Axel. Wesley didn't step closer to them; he knew when to give other animals their space. He stretched his body out and eyed Claire, still hungry. He needed... he needed to eat something soon.
