With class all wrapped up, all there was to do was finish the homework he got, contact his creator, make a quick journal entry, and go to bed. That was easy enough; it was only four things. Then the next day would come and he could just repeat the first day. But when he finally sat down to start his homework, the idea of staying in the student's lounge began to fade off. He had not anticipated there to be so many students in the lounge. There were more people in the lounge than in any of his classes, and trying to block them out would have been easier if some of them weren't so loud and occasionally coming too close. Doing his homework was becoming easier said than done.
He picked up his things, standing up as he searched for somewhere quieter to be. The library would have been a better choice; people were forced to be quiet and far less obnoxious there. Even better, he could try his new room. That space was for him, and it was all his. There was no endless chatter or inevitable clutter or people knocking into his table and chair. He resettled his grip on his textbooks, already moving out. He wasn't going to try doing work here again anytime soon.
He was still moving out when he noticed. . .something sitting down at a table, doing homework. Manta Carlos was full of strange beings, but this one was different. Instead of causing a ruckus or talking or even interacting with others, this one was working, two small, bizarre creatures sitting and watching. Some would pass the trio, playing with them before they eventually let out random apologies and walked away.
The being was different in more ways than simply being quiet. Their hair almost looked like a cloud of gas, strikingly different with its pastel hues. Their face almost resembled the stars themselves, shimmering like the night sky he had only just recently seen for the first time. They had horns too, and big, coned ears that all had the same odd pastel coloring. And their eyes. . .they were the same as well, though they seemed eternally. . .caught in a position he couldn't understand. But to add to the oddities, the being was giant, sporting two pairs of arms compared to his one.
And no one ever bothered the strange being.
So, maybe it would be quieter to sit with them instead.
Gray moved to the table, setting his books down before he took a seat at the far end of them. He kept his head down, already opening a new book to work with. Hopefully the others would take the hint and stay away from him, too.
