It wasn't often that Cytus was fed up with something, but when she was, it often concerned her own well being. She was kind to everyone, tried to stay out of trouble, but on certain occasions, trouble found her instead. In this case, the trouble that caught her was the bug that had been spreading around the island lately.

Despite her resilient body, under her hard light holographic clothing and skin, underneath a layer of armor made of who knew what was a seamless mesh of organic and cybernetic parts of origins not of this sector of space. The emphasis was on the organic of course, and while Cytus was capable of taking care of herself, finding someone well versed in medicine was likely to be more of a help than a hinderance.

Of course there was an on-site nurse at the school, but their facilities were limited. The Manta Carlos Hospital was the end all, be all of medical facilities anywhere considering their clientele.

Considering her lack of knowledge of the written English language as of yet, the reception found it simply easier to sit her in the waiting room while a pool of nurses got together to draw straws on who would try and learn practically a whole new field of medicine.

Welcome back to school maybe.

Emeraude was on her last few hours of her shift when the Head Nurse rallied the majority of the new hires to her office for a little “raffle”. Of course, the Nurse knew for a fact that if there wasn’t such a high demand for nurses outside of the Operating Room due to the Flu going around recently, she would’ve stayed within the limits of her comfort zone in the operating room. The OR was her haven; the boxed space where she was literally the master of whatever was needed to be done. She was confident in her abilities there.

This? Not so much.

So it was not very surprising that when she came out with a marked piece of paper in hand, she was slightly irritated. Not so much about dealing with the patient or the virus going around, but rather with the fact that dealing with this patient may take time. As a parent, the first thing she always wants during the day is to go home early to be with and to take care of her family.

But of course, she had an oath that she took to heart. Sighing, the blonde took the chart from the Nurse’s station and straightened herself up to not least looked disturbed by this assignment.

It’s not like she was ever really worried about being sick with the disease; her powers made it… rather impossible to become sick; at least, impossible for her to be REALLY sick.

The doctor already notified, the Nurse made a peek at the chart and at the group sitting at the waiting area of the lobby. “Calling for a Miss…” she paused a bit to check the name, “… Cytus…? Please come with me to Evaluation Room 2.”

And there, Emeraude walked to the exam room, taking a seat and waited for the lady to come by, take her seat and become comfortable. “Hello. My name is Mrs. Awren. I’ll be your nurse for today before your doctor sees you.” She smiled, hoping to keep the woman comfortable. “What brings you to the Emergency Room?”

One of things that Cytus enjoyed about the island was that she was not particularly an outsider. Certainly she garnered a look or two from young ones, but that had happened even on Aridia. But here, differences were looked at as normal, aside from certain others who hated pretty much everyone.

Her name though gained a few extra looks strangely, although she'd had trouble thinking up a theory for that.

When her name was called, the lady silently arose from her seat and walked with the nurse who had summoned her. The wait time had not been too bad considering the population of the island was roughly three times what the Aenari had been at their best.

She was lead into what could only be described as an impressively clean room. People certainly took their medicine seriously here.

"A pleasure, Ms. Awren. My name is Cytus, I believe I have been suffering from the same epidemic that many of my fellow students have. My ability to see has been diminished."

She was of course talking about her 'ability' as Starlight officials called it, although it was a natural trait of her species.

"I also felt it would be wise to seek medical counsel if I am to remain on the planet for an extended period of time."

Diminished ability to see? Well, that was certainly the lighter-side of the flu right here. Some people were outright transforming to other beings, sneezing out fire or pooping wine and other not-so-fun freaky stuff that come out of random orifaces or dimensions. Either way, Emeraude was more or less inclined to use her power blatantly to save time, but of course – paperwork was a formality that could not be skipped.

Everything was okay, until she saw this rather eerie scribble of a language that she barely understood at the demographics page. Emeraude inwardly put her palm against her forehead, restraining herself from sighing out of the realization why everyone in the hospital avoided the patient. Wherever she came from, this was certainly not a language anyone here understood.

She spoke English just fine though; so it’s definitely a little puzzling – at least, until she looked up and took a close look. “Oh. Well then.”

She paused a bit, putting the chart down. “Alright, Cytus.” She said, “Is it okay if you tell me where you came from? I don’t want to assume.”

"I am sorry if my case proves difficult, I can seek consultation at a different facility if necessary."

Although that might mean leaving the island, and from what Cytus had gathered so far, that might be a near impossible task. Of course she would try if it was necessary...but it was preferable not to leave the island unless it was an absolute necessity. Cytus was never brought up to be a doctor, and thus not knowing the relevance of Ms. Awren's questions, answered them faithfully in hopes that it would help.

"A small moon in what humans call the Homonculus Nebula, what used to orbit Eta Carinae. It is...a long way away."

7,500 light years and some change. And a three year trip to Earth that resulted in the loss of her power to remotely meld with anyone else's mind. It was something she was working on, but couldn't work on until this virus was fixed.

"I understand if you cannot diagnose me immediately; nor is it necessary. My engineers have provided me with documents on both my original organic and the added mechanical parts of my design, should they be required."

Of course Cytus did not expect that she would get a mechanic of sorts at the hospital as well; she could fix herself for the most part, although it might help to seek someone well versed in different technologies somewhere down the road.

Emeraude laughed lightly, hoping to lighten the mood even just a bit. “Oh, there’s no need to leave. I’m very sure there is someone very competent that will be able to help you.”

Admittedly kind of tooting her own horn to a degree; she was likely the only one who will be able to do anything with Cytus considering the lack of knowledge on Alien biology available to most medical personnel. She cautiously stood up, walked to the door and peeked out for a moment before closing the door and locking it shut. The next couple of things she was thinking of doing was going to need some level of… well… discretion.

“I’ll explain all the secrecy later. This is more about me than you being who you are, I’ll assure you.” She flashed a hopeful smile as she returned to her table. “I’m no doctor, but can I see those documents? I believe I know how we can get you home fully healthy and get you both the biological and mechanical recovery you seek.”

"I appreciate your help greatly, thank you."

Although not showing it, Cytus was deeply grateful that she would not have to seek off-site medical help, which would likely be an impossibility. It was unlikely she would catch anything truly deadly, but it was always worth finding a competent medical professional, even if they did know nothing about you; yet.

What was strange was nurse's absolute persistence on secrecy, but before Cytus could ask why, she was shut down by Ms. Awren's acknowledgement that it would be explained later.

The Aridian was curious as to why. She was a nurse, and no doubt that Cytus should be seen by one of the primary doctors of the facility? Or was the medical system here simply different? Supposedly she would find out just a little bit later.

"Certainly. I have had help in translating in at least the basic diagrams you may need. More advanced topics may require additional work. Hopefully you find them useful."

Cytus had brought a small bag along with her, and a tablet that worked like many on Earth. She handed over the device, containing just about everything that Ms. Awren would ever need to know.

“Well, let’s start, then.”

Emeraude took a deep breath and took her seat before accepting the device, going through its contents like a hawk. Studious as she was, it didn’t take long for the nurse to find her solution after some skimming through; the book had more than enough information. Now, it was certainly time to put things into good use.

“Hold out your hand to me. I will be holding your hand, and I will feel warm for a second or two, then you should feel the rest of your body gaining some warmth. After that, that should be it.” Emeraude laid out her hand on the table, waiting for the alien to place her hands onto hers; the procedure would begin and proceed just as the nurse described.

First, Emeraude’s hands became increasingly warmer, almost fever-like, and soon the feeling would progress through whatever biology was in Cytus’s artificial body to radiate across her systems. It didn’t take long before she would feel rather normal. Ideally, Emeraude did this to the unconscious as to prevent them from associating their recovery with her and her Vitakinesis, but this was certainly the kind of situation that requires a bit of tact considering she wouldn’t be able to get her ability to work if she didn’t have a decent understanding of how the alien’s body worked.

The information provided was more than necessary.

No sooner than it was completed, Emeraude finally let go and began scribbling something onto a piece of paper and to the chart closeby. “How are you feeling now?”

Cytus' body remained perfectly still except the hand she was requested to give to Ms. Awren. In her mind, the procedure she was describing was extremely strange to her. Like Aridian and Aenari medicine, humans often relied on large amounts of technology and knowledge available to them to make the best decisions for their biological well-being.

Ms. Awren had just skipped practically the entire book on medicine and gone to a treatment that was quite frankly, just as alien as she was.

As expected, Cytus' hands got quite warm, and the feeling began to spread. And just as suddenly as this virus that had been going around had infected her, the sickness she had been feeling from the foreign agent was disappearing. In the last few moments, its possible that Cytus own ability would connect with Ms. Awren in a way; the meld, the way her own species had socialized with each other. And instead of the blank 'thank you' that one would normally get from the alien talking, there would be a very warm smile and thank you transmitted by thought. Only briefly, but enough.

Cytus released her hands and looked around, blinking several times and rubbing one hand across the slight ridges in her head.

"I feel much better, thank you. I was under the assumption that human medicine was technology dependent. Was I wrong, or is this treatment unique to you only?"

Emeraude nodded. “Yes, it’s actually exclusive to myself.” She sighed, stopping writing for a moment before continuing. “Humanity is a very technology dependent species; majority of our medical knowledge comes from hundreds of years of medical trial and error, something I avoid completely by being simply capable of manipulating biology itself.”

She pushed a strand of hair behind an ear, finishing up whatever she was writing on the little board. “If word spreads that I can literally heal just about anything from simply understanding the process of its biology, I’d get a bunch of attention that I’d rather not get. This is why I became what I am; doctors get too much attention and I am currently in the best position to help patients at random due to the nature of my profession.”

Emeraude gave the alien a smile and passed the piece of paper she had been working on in the past few minutes. “This is my address, and I drew a map on how to get there from the closet landmark. My husband specializes in machinery, so he’ll be more than able to help you with any cybernetics you have; in fact, he’ll be happy to do so.” She stood, picking up the chart and the device that she was given and holding it close before finally opening the door to indicate that Cytus’ visit was close to over. “If you drop by sometime over the next few days, I can give you immunizations to basic known diseases in the planet to date and we can talk about making sure you keep yourself well taken care of, yes?”
