Orion was right, they were painting in a strange way. How could alcohol help their creativeness? Faye didn't understand and she didn't think she ever would.

He mentioned something about her watching his drink and walked away. To where? She didn't know, she was paying attention to those creating art. It was nice to see others lose theirselves in their work. It was refreshing. They were extremely messy at painting, but Faye couldn't say much. But typically she didn't throw paint around, that was only a one time thing, she wasted a lot of paint that day, and the idea made her cringe.

Orion came back with paintbrushes, paintbrushes! She was beyond excited!

"Oh! Yes! I'm dying to paint." She took one of the paintbrushes and quickly walked to one of the canvases, it was like it was calling to her and she couldn't help but go to it. She sat down and got some paint the was next to the canvas, it was really convenient.

"Orion!" She pointed to the canvas next to her.

She was itching to paint. She began by painting a blue sky, and working in some clouds. She was kind of stumped on what to add next.

Before he could join Faye in the painting area, Orion was compelled to re-situate their drinks. It would have been rude to take up a table they were not using, and it would be easier if they just kept them somewhere close by too. He set them down a more nearby table then, before joining Faye, scooted a few inches farther away. Hopefully the very minor difference in distance would keep their drinks safe from any wayward paint drizzles.

He took the canvas next to her, as she had indicated, and started trying to conjure some inspiration for his own canvas. While Faye was instantly hit with something to make, Orion ended up chewing on a paintbrush and just staring at his canvas intensely.

"Mmmmm... C'mon... Gimme somethin', brain..."

Orion peeked at Faye's sky, and Faye's own stumped-ness.

"Got a bit of a block too, huh?"

That was when one of the other painters, splattered and slightly wobbly, came over to the two of them. Looking at their canvases and their expressions, he seemed to quickly pick up on their dilemma too.

"Looks like you two could use a little inspiration! Could I interest either of you in some?

He held up and shook a little metal flask.

"It's on the house, and don't worry about drivin'. We can call a cab if you're stuck with a little TOO much creativity."

Faye was lacking inspiration now, when only a few moment ago she was filled with it. She could hear Orion mumbling, and it seemed he was in the same boat she was.

"Yeah.. A bit," she said, annoyed. She didn't like when she had no idea what to paint. A lot of the time it came easy to her, but once in a while, like today she just wasn't in it.

Faye looked up as someone approached them, it was one of the college students she had seen pouring alcohol in their coffee. He looked at their canvases then back at them, and offered them a drink to help with their inspiration.

She started to decline his offer, she had never consumed alcohol before, and wasn't about to try it now, but then decided otherwise. "Actually, you know I would love some." She got up and fetch her drink from the nearby table, and handed it to the guy.

She muttered a thank you under her breath, wow she was a little on edge today. She sat at her canvas with her drink and sipped. It wasnt as hot as it had been, and she took a bigger drink, and then another.

She sat her drink down and picked up a paintbrush and continued to sit there. Of course the alcohol wouldn't kick in right away.

When the college student had approached them offering inspiration, Orion had expected Faye to politely turn him down. She did not seem like the kind of girl to jump at the offer of strange alcohol. But then, to his surprise, she actually took up the offer. Wide-eyed and not wanting to be left out, Orion also got his drink and asked for some inspiration.

"Well, lets see if this works."

Orion went full bottoms-up with his drink, chugging the entire thing down in one go and leaving a hollow cup behind. He could feel the caffeine flooding into him, masking the entrance of the alcohol. He wondered how strong it was.

His hand went right for a paintbrush and some paint, then right to the canvas.

"Might as well just start paintin' anything to get the juices flowing. I'll start with... THIS."

He held up his emptied coffee cup, with its fancy indie logo and cap. It was not much, but it would serve as a good warm up piece to get the momentum going until the caffeine and alcohol kicked in. However, Orion was not planning on doing a really realistic portrait of the cup, as evidence by him making the cup a deep shade of red instead of the off-white it was.

Meanwhile, someone had left the two of them a flask to use at their own leisure.

"I guess that's if we want MORE inspiration."

It seemed Orion was quick to oblige to the alcohol and he seemed to drink all of his in one go. Maybe that would help Faye? She took her drink and drank half of it trying to let it sink in.

She looked over and watched him paint, maybe that would inspire her.

After a few minutes she decided that she didn't want to go for realistic anymore. She wanted to just go for colorful. She took many colors and put it on her palette.

Faye decided the only way to get more inspirations was to add more alcohol to her drink. So she took it and poured a lot more than she really meant to. She swished her cup around and drank the rest of it. She still couldn't it as much, but she could get the hint that it was strong stuff.

Her mind was spinning a little bit, how in the world did this give anyone inspiration if they couldn't think straight?

She decided to just start making swirls of color on her canvas. Really the alcohol was an awful idea, and she shouldn't have taken more.

It didn't take her long to finish with her colorful swirls, but she still wasn't happy with it.

"I'm pretty sure that gives me the opposite effect of creativity." She turned her chair away from her canvas and put her chin in her hands.

"Oh, honey..."

Orion was content to leave Faye alone for a moment. It seemed to him that she needed space to let her creativity flow. Having him play around with her too much would have been more distracting than helpful. But when he glanced over after awhile, after his coffee cup painting had taken a garish colorful form, he saw that Faye was in an even worse spot than before.

Seeing Faye with her head in her hands and her back to the canvas broke his heart. He knew that art was her passion. If she was so despondent with her work, it was probably killing her inside.

"Nonono..."

He had to help her. Putting down his own brushes, he went over and knelt in front of her on the floor and put his hands on her knees.

"You're being too hard on yourself. You just gotta let yourself go and just... paint. Like... that. Over there."

Orion pointed over to the woman who was spinning and twirling as she painted on her canvas. While her strokes were more like slashes and swipes across the canvas, the actual result had some real form. It looked like she was painting a dancing figure too, and her animated painting style was lending a sense of motion and speed to the still picture.

"Just let your inhibitions go. Replace them with creativity and just create~"

Looking at the floor, she heard Orion say "nonono" she thought maybe he messed up, but instead she found him moving towards her, kneeling in front of her, and put his hands on her knees.

He was right she was being to hard on herself, but sometimes she couldn't help it. Art was the one thing that was suppose to come easy to her. She hated when she got this way. It was beyond frustrating.

She looked up at the mentioning of someone painting. It was awe-inspiring to watch someone get lost like that. But that just wasn't Faye at the moment. She continued to watch the girl.

"It is nice watching someone paint like that," Faye decided she just wasn't into painting at the moment. That's probably why she lacked inspiration, alcohol definitely didn't agree with her the way it did them.

"Sorry.. I'm just," she paused. She wanted to spend time with Orion, but if she mentioned something about not wanting to paint anymore, she didn't know what they'd do. "Never mind." She muttered.

Orion was without words. Faye looked so defeated and it was breaking his heart. The poor girl was in a slump and her passion, her love of art itself was suffering. Somehow, it felt like it was his fault that she was in such a low mood. Maybe he was wrong to push her to just start painting out of nowhere. If she was in the mood for painting, she would have done it herself. Or perhaps he was mistaken in indulging the alcohol in their drinks for creativity. Not everyone could just be the happy kind of tipsy.

Not knowing what to do or how to make anything better, Orion fell back on what he felt was a good enough response. Taking his hands off her knees, he shuffled forward until her could wrap his arms around her for a gentle hug.

"Faye... I'm sorry..."

He had no idea what to do in that situation, and he went with his gut.

"Is there anything I can do to make up for it? You want me to help you paint? You want to get out of here?"

Faye felt him take his hands off of her knees, and before she knew it he was hugging her. And to her surprise apologizing. What did he have to be sorry for?

She gladly hugged him back. "I'm not exactly sure why you're apologizing, but it isn't your fault my inspiration is failing me. It happens sometimes. Don't worry about it okay." She gave him a smile, and touched his cheek.

She breathed in his smell, it was hard not to being this close, and he smelled really nice. He mentioned something about making it up to her, helping her paint, or they could just leave.

"Leave?" She was confused. "Where would we go?" She wasn't entirely ready to go home, but being around the canvas was irritating her now.

"I don't know... But I'd go anywhere with you if it picked up your mood."

His own mood was raised somewhat when Faye gave him a smile. It might have been a perfunctory smile, one given only to soothe and not actually a reflection of how she really felt, but it was a smile nonetheless. He had heard that the simple act of smiling could raise a person's mood, and eventually make that smile genuine. So he took it as a small step forward, a step towards picking up their date again.

Rubbing her back slowly, he continued to hold her closely as he tried thinking of some place else they could go to be together. Looking out the window he saw that the sun was beginning to set, basking the area in a comforting shade of orange.

"Mmmmmaybe we could visit the park? It's still nice out and we could be alone together."

Turning his head the other way, he saw their coffee cups and the flask.

"And we could bring some drinks along too. Even if it doesn't bring about any inspiration, I think we could still have some fun with the stuff."
