Shale couldn't help but quirk a brow at the challenge that had been selected; he was certainly glad that he didn't have to physically compete against his mom, and if he had been expected to he almost certainly would have lost on purpose. It wasn't that she was weak by any stretch, but something like that simply didn't feel fair to him. "I, um...origami? I've never heard of that, honestly."
He shuffled over to the kitchen table and grabbed a little sphere of granite from a basket on the countertop as he went, idly shaping it into an apple after going to sit down. In truth, since it was only just a bit after three, his vision was still rather on the blurry side. It would gradually clear up over the next hour or so, but as it stood it would be rather difficult for him to see what he was doing. "Oh, uhh, mom, things are still pretty hard to make out, if that's something that matters. I'd be okay waiting an hour or so, but if you don't want to that's alright too."
