I fight against that tendency, because quite frankly I need all the meat I can get. Small portion sizes really won't do it for me." He had too much muscle to make do with the tiny circles of meat served at most restaurants. Depending on the place, he often ordered two or even three different meals so he could get enough to sate his appetite. "I imagine you eat a lot of raw meat?" A lot of his meat was cooked so lightly that even calling it blue was being too kind. He never got sick though, and his body seemed well suited to consuming the rawest of meat.

He let out a small laugh at the idea of a bison dessert. "I only know of a single dessert recipe that uses bison meat, and I opted to skip over that one." Bison dessert balls were aptly named, and he wasn't exactly keen on the balls part of it.

"You can go for a swim if you'd like. I prefer to relax after dinner, although I imagine swimming is probably more usual for you." He wasn't going to stop him, but he wasn't going to go for a swim either.

RE: A Taste of Bison [Crit]

"I eat 'em as raw as I can get 'em, and that's not very raw at most places. I know they got health code standards to uphold but... Look at me. I'm a shark. We eat tin cans sometimes. I can handle some raw beef."

Lelei had to hold back a chuckle as he spoke both highly and lowly of his people, of his species. Truthfully, only the animal kind of sharks ate random garbage like cans and licence plates. The upright kind like Lelei were more discerning with their food.

He raised a curious look at Ignatius from over his whiskey glass.

"Sounds curious. Maybe next time we could try that recipe and get a verdict on it."

With a contented sigh, Lelei rose from his seat to walk closer to the pool. Unlike humans, whom had some strange taboo against swimming after eating, Lelei liked a good swim after a meal. Nothing too strenuous, of course, just a nice relaxing dip. Ignatius' fancy pool begged for him to try it out. But Lelei didn't want to swim alone. Not while Ignatius was around anyway.

Looking over to one side of the pool, Lelei spotted a raised portion that poured a steady stream of water into the main pool. From the circular shape and bubbles, Lelei could immediately tell what it was: a hot tub. He got an idea. Walking over to Ignatius, he put a hand on his shoulder and motioned to the hot tub with his whiskey glass.

"How 'bout relaxing in the hot tube with me then? No swimming involved, but we can still relax in the water. With our drinks, no less."

Most people tended to blanch at the idea of eating certain parts of the animal. He supposed it was a cultural thing - some would eat brains without a second thought, while more North American sensibilities tended to be disgusted at the very idea. He supposed he didn't know anything about sharkman cuisine - maybe he wouldn't be bothered.

Ignatius considered the night to be more or less wrapped up. He'd recline in his chair, let himself digest... Lelei would go for a swim, and then no doubt he'd leave, so that Ignatius could retire for the night. He considered his host duties to be essentially finished.

Or so he thought. He glanced up as Lelei put a hand on his shoulder. It wasn't so much the interruption - it was the body contact. Ignatius would have been lying if he hadn't guessed at Lelei's intentions. It would have been hard to miss, with how many passes he'd made. But he'd tried to tell himself that he was imagining it - or perhaps that he wasn't imagining it, but that Lelei would get the hint if he brushed him off.

Apparently not on both accounts.

His face was deadly serious as he glanced back at Lelei, eyes sliding up from his hand to his face. "No thank you. I'm not that interested in the hot tub - it was my father's choice to install it." Simple, to the point. Ignatius was nothing if not blunt in situations like this.

Lelei's hand was removed from Ignatius' shoulder the moment the man's deadly gaze rose up to meet Lelei's. Hanging just a few inches above his shoulder, Lelei and his hand were frozen for a moment while Ignatius laid out his response clearly and concisely. The hand was lowered back to Lelei's side soon afterward. His smile had faded a little, but he kept his eye contact with Ignatius. An understanding had certainly been met.

"Then, uh, I'll just be over there by myself then."

With slightly less-than-confident steps, Lelei increased the distance between himself and Ignatius. At the edge of the hot tub, which was already bubbling, Lelei looked over his shoulder to Ignatius once more while he began to strip off his shirt.

He looked again when it was time for his pants, and he waited until Ignatius was not looking before stripping nude and quickly descending into the hot water. Some of Lelei's tension left him as he submerged himself up to his chest in finely warmed and roiling water. He leaned back and nursed his whiskey.

There was some time before Lelei spoke out again.

"... Hey, Ignatius..."

By that time, Lelei had loosened back up from the initial shock of the refusal. Some part of him knew what he had been doing to/with Ignatius. It was only until the hot tub that he consciously acknowledged it.

"I apologize for my forwardness. I mean no disrespect by it. Truly."

Work was a solace for him at times like these. Work was something he had almost complete control over. It was something he could control almost every part of. It was something he could just do, without having to worry over little things.

So he did. He waved one of the staff over and had them fetch a hefty folder from his desk. From there, he settled in on a chair, completely ignoring his houseguest as he started to read through the file. He completely missed Lelei undressing, and had almost forgot about him when he finally spoke.

He glanced up when Lelei addressed him, and he did his best to leave his expression blank, even if he was a bit too serious. "It was nothing. Say no more about it - it's already behind us." He was eager to move on, to simply pretend it hadn't happened, and already his eyes were wandering down to the folder in his lap.

Ignatius might have thought he could hide it from Lelei. But Lelei could just sense it in the man. Ignatius was hiding something, or pushing something down, and Lelei had a sneaking suspicion as to what that something was. Between the way Ignatius shot down Lelei's offer for the hot tub and the way Ignatius was doing his best to separate himself from the situation at hand, Lelei could see that Ignatius was not quite as... "out in the open" as Lelei was.

Now Lelei had nothing but circumstantial evidence to Ignatius' predicament, but all the signs seem to point to that direction. If he was wrong, then things might be awkward. If he was right, the consequences of poor words and actions would be so much greater. So Lelei had to tread lightly.

For awhile, Lelei relaxed in the hot tub without another word. His silence acknowledged Ignatius' desire to let the moment pass without further complications. He slowly finished his whiskey and thought about his next move.

Ignatius' staff proved to be on point as they offered Lelei a towel almost the instant he started rising from the comforting water. He still did nothing to hide himself as he dried off, albeit quickly, then dressed himself.

"Alright. Well, thanks for having me over, Ignatius. It was actually a really nice dinner and evening with you."

One of the staffers offered to escort Lelei out. As he passed Ignatius, he had one last thing to say.

"I wish you a good night. You have my contact info. So if you ever wanna get together again, just you and me, perhaps to talk privately about something, I'll always be available. Thanks again for the bison."

[thoth=http://i.imgur.com/1r3hMmE.png]Ignatius hadn't noticed anything weird about him getting in, but obviously his staff did, having rushed over with a towel. Ignatius did notice when Lelei was getting out, and while he didn't see anything and tastefully averted his eyes, it was just another black mark in Lelei's record. Who thought it was polite to strip naked in the hot tub of a man who was only a little bit more than a polite stranger? Ignatius had invited him over based on a shared interest, but it would be a stretch to call them friends.

And as Lelei said his piece, Ignatius could only think to himself that at the very least it had ended on a good note... until Lelei had to ruin it by saying one last thing. One last thing that caused him to grit his teeth, even if he didn't even deign it with a response - or a goodbye.

Who did he think he was, actually? Why in the hell would ignatius want to privately talk to him, just the two of them? He couldn't be sure exactly what Lelei meant, but both options were insulting. The idea that he'd just cough up his secrets to someone he'd more or less just met was absurd, and the idea that he wanted more private time with Lelei was laughable.

He let the staff escort Lelei out, and off the property.

He would not be getting another call.
