Hunter was a little fazed by Fleur for a moment. Six people at breakfast every morning? She literally topped his highest number every morning before even leaving the house. "Well, you have the advantage there. If I lived with anybody I'd probably talk to maybe the same number, but no such luck there."

And now he was a bit curious. Fleur's sister would probably be happy she wasn't with her? That certainly seemed a bit off. Weren't siblings normally supposed to get along? But then again, Hunter didn't have any siblings, so, what did he know? He decided to let it drop. He didn't want to question Fleur about her family life when he had just met her. Although she did seem pretty open, it still felt fairly rude. "Well, as long as you won't get in any trouble, then everything'll work out fine then."

Hunter then began to think of how many stories they'd have to climb to get to the roof. If he remembered correctly, he was told the school had three floors. That would mean they would have a decent climb up ahead of them, but Hunter felt like he could use a good walk. That and a little open air wouldn't hurt either. He was then pleased when Fleur began to agree with his idea, and then stared wide eyed at her for a second. Phasing through the Earth? While on the fence on whether or no she was serious, judging from her smile and tone of voice, he was starting to lean towards she was fairly serious.

He had never considered the idea of passing through anything bigger than a building, and the Earth was definitely bigger than any building. It was then however he began to ponder the idea. Maybe he could pass through the planet. It was just a giant solid mass, after all. A giant, solid mass with molten hot magma at the center. Hunter was unsure how his powers worked with liquids or gasses, but if it did work with those substances, then he could walk through poisonous gas or water like he was just walking through air. "It's a possibility, I suppose. I mean, if I fell fast enough, and if I can phase through whatever is in the Earth, even though it would still take a while, it could possibly be done. But I've never even tested phasing through water, so I don't want to go messing with the Earth's molten core just yet."

Fleur had more questions than Hunter had answers about his power. She barely knew where to start. What happened if he rematerialized part way inside a solid? Would his arm fall off or something? How could he change direction when phasing? Could he still apply force against an object? The fun thing about powers was in all the ways they could seemingly break the laws of physics. For instance, Fleur routinely broke the laws of thermodynamics and conservation of matter.

“Alright, I won't push you off the roof. Yet,” teased Fleur. The smirk on her face was entirely unaffected by those more sinister connotations. She was surprised, though. If she could phase through stuff like a ghost, she'd practise everything out. She'd phase through people to see if they got a tingly feeling, through liquids and gases to see its effect, and just overall have fun experimenting.

Once they reached the top, Fleur ran out to the edge of the balcony to enjoy the view. She could see the city in the distance, and massive ocean largely in the background dwarfing their existence. The world seemed so incredibly large when there was nothing like trees or buildings to get in the way of your sight.

“Maybe it's lucky you're a ghost,” Fleur said, “You get another chance to enjoy the world and everything in it. There's too much even for a single lifetime.”

Hunter was a little disappointed that he couldn't answer many questions about his powers. To a certain degree, he was a bit scared to test his abilities to a certain degree. He had no idea what would happen. What if while testing the extent of his powers, something caused his phasing to fail and he perished once more? And that was another concern.

Could he even die again?

If he did die again, would he just come back once more to the land of the living? And if that happened, would he lose all of the new memories he had made so far?

Pushing his morbid line of mental questioning aside, he rolled his eyes jokingly and smirked back at Fleur. "I appreciate not being pushed off roofs. Thanks. And I'll refrain from sneaking up on you in the dead of the night and scaring the heck out of you." He inwardly questioned if his little mock threat was too stereotypical of ghosts, but he just mentally shrugged. Gotta work with what works.

As they reached the rooftop, Hunter watched as his serpentine accomplice ran over to the edge of the top of the building. She obviously wasn't afraid of heights, and Hunter was glad he wasn't either. That seemed like it would be a gigantic pain with all the towering structures, both natural and man made, in the world. Also it would limit one's travel options to just land and water vehicles which normally aren't as effective as planes.

Moving over to join her by her viewing area, he pondered Fleur's words.

Was he lucky? By anyone's standards, coming back to life after bleeding out in a ditch, most likely resenting all the things you haven't gotten to do in life, without a scratch on you, would be considered lucky. Hunter supposed that he was lucky to have come back from such a thing, even if it cost him the memories of whatever life he had prior. But to a degree, he was curious at his luck. Why was he able to come back from such a thing, and not other people in the world who probably deserve a second chance more than him?

"I suppose you're right. A second chance at life to experience all you can is something people normally only dream about. I do wonder though. Can I even die again? If I've died once, can I die a second time? And if I do wind up dying again, will I just get back up again and forget all my new memories? I wonder if I even technically age anymore. Cause if you die and come back to life, do you age like a normal person, or stay the same age that you died?" Hunter realized he was going a bit crazy on the question front, and decided to stop before he said anymore. "Sorry, I went a bit nuts with the questions that I know you can't answer. I'm just a bit of a weirdo, aren't I? I didn't mean to dump all that on you."

Fleur shook her head. “I don't mind talkers,” she grinned. Hunter was definitely a talker, once he started going. It was like observing a snowball descend a mountain, and by the end of it the massive boulder of snow could plow anyone over with enough thoughts and questions to make a final exam. It was true, Fleur didn't have a clue about any of his questions, but she was glad he asked them all the same.

“What's important is you try to figure it out. Just like we try to figure out what careers we want or who we like or blah blah blah,” Fleur looked back out to the balcony. Clouds gathered over top of them, and suddenly the school was made a little hazier with a light drizzle of rain. There was a small roof, a spire protecting Fleur and Hunter from the rain overhead, but the air was cooler all the same.

“When I was first born, everyone knew about my bones. I got a lot of attention because of it, from my family. But then my brothers and sister got powers, flashier powers, and I didn't know anything more about myself. It took a long time before I could produce rain.”

She sighed, “By then, I was an afterthought in the family once again. At least with Grandpa-” she paused for a moment. It was probably not appropriate to talk about it with strangers, even a new buddy.

“What do you hope to learn here, anyway? What brought you to this school?” Fleur asked, leaning against the balcony until her spine started to fold strangely over the railing. Her hair dangled downward with the rest of her head and shoulders. Her arms reached out towards the ground, while she felt the rain on her face.

Hunter gave Fleur a gratified smile. "I appreciate that. I really do." The young undead realized that, once brought out of his normally quiet and out of the way state of being, could chat with the best of them. He liked that he could have a conversation with people who wanted to talk, and could manage to have a short, semi-conversation with people who were normally on the quiet side too or were in a bad mood as well. In assistance with this, Hunter normally wasn't prone to sudden, unnecessary outbursts... Key word being normally.

Hunter watched as the clouds moved in, the soft patter of precipitation hitting structure and land accompanying the look of Zeus above bringing in the wave of clouds to cover the school. While moving over with Fleur to keep semi-dry under the spire, he considered her words of wisdom. "Hmmm, figuring things out is good." He smiled to himself, sitting down, hugging his knees. "Y'know, I've noticed that I like learning and talking about things about and with the people I meet. Maybe I should stop trying to figure out others enough to try and figure out myself. That could work."

The shower covered the roof in a haze, and a light breeze began to blow, making the fall of the rain lean slightly in the direction of the zephyr. The temperature began to drop to a degree. Not unpleasantly cold, but a somewhat nice cool. Holding up a hand, Hunter examined the appendage, before making it fade in and out of vision. Hearing Fleur talk about herself and a little about her past made him feel a little out of place. He felt bad that he couldn't share anything from his childhood or any other time to compensate her.

Hunter didn't even take give much heed when his new friend cut her sentence short. He wasn't one to pry too far into other's lives or inquire on what could be a sensitive subject. If they wanted to tell him, they would, or would in time. "Well, you're family, forgive me for saying so, seems very impressiveness equals attentiveness. I can't really imagine giving my friends or family differing amounts of attention based on their looks or abilities. But that's just one mans opinion."

While Fleur occupied herself with bending her back at an incredible angle, Hunter decided to test something while he answered her question. He held out his hand, feeling it immediately softly barraged by the light beat of the rain, and then willed his hand to become intangible. Before his eyes, the droplets of water began to pass through the space where he knew his hand to be. Once again, he smiled to himself. Maybe he should actually try testing his powers more.

"Well, truth be told, I'm not sure what I want to learn. I know I should learn all I can about my powers, but other than that, I can't think of anything else so far." The brunette began to do what he had done with his hand earlier, but instead of turning it invisible on and off, he began to let it go intangible and back to normal, feeling the rain and not at alternations. "I came here because I have no ties to anyone else in the world. That, and because I wanted to get a decent education in a safe environment with other people like me. I feel that's why a lot of people probably come here, but, once again, that's just one mans opinion, cause I really haven't met anybody other than you."

“I don't mind, it's true.” At least, for one or two of the Tenebres. But it was also a condition of her family. When an estate and heirs were in the picture, it was important to make impressions. At least, that was how her grandfather saw things. In the end, her older brother would receive everything, even bypassing his father when the time came. Her grandfather's affection felt meaningless at that point, yet she still remembered it fondly.

Fleur watched as Hunter experimented with his power. She smiled, observing what she thought was the rain drops passing through his hand. It was certainly difficult to make out from her angle, but Fleur grinned in congratulations for Hunter's effort.

“I'm here mostly 'cause the rest of my siblings are here. If they weren't, I'd be back in Canada.” Fleur came shortly after her two brothers, and alongside her sister. Together, they completed this generation. They were safe from the machinations of her grandfather. So she was told.

“I don't mind it here though. I'm sure you'll learn more here than you realize.” Fleur straightened herself back to normal, leaning her backside against the railing and smiling to Hunter. “So? What will be your next experiment? Ready to put it through a whole body of water?”

Hunter was in the middle of willing his hands back to being invisible out of a sense of not having anything better to do, and held up the out of sight appendages in alarm at Fleur's suggestion. It looked quite humorous seeing him waving around two stumps that he forgot had the extremities needed to express his defense. "I wouldn't say a whole body of water yet! I withhold the right to say no to anything bigger than a pool!"

Realizing he was overreacting, Hunter put his arms down, and noticed that his hands weren't within the visible spectrum. "Well, that's embarrassing.Imagine the looks I'd get holding up stuff with invisible hands. That'd be funny." Returning the referred appendages back to normal, Hunter nodded at Fleur's logic. He could see why, logically, a family sending a child to the same school as their siblings. "I bet. I'd be a bit put-off leaving... wherever it is I came from, to come to a school out in the middle of nowhere too."

Deciding to stand up, Hunter stretched his arms above his head, and another idea came to mind. It may have been a bit stereotypical, and a bit too close proximity for some people, but it couldn't hurt to ask Fleur to participate in a experiment.

He hoped so, at least.

Willing his entire body to go intangible, much like how he had when he passed through the wall earlier, he gestured to Fleur. Thinking more on the idea, the more curious it made him. Somehow, talking to someone who had unnatural abilities like him made him want to find out a little more about his own powers. "This might sound a bit weird, but do you mind walking through me? I kinda want to see what the reaction from passing through people is." Hunter expected the reaction to walking through a ghost to cause chills and strange feelings, based on ghost stories, but for all he knew, it could cause nothing at all. He was leaning more towards the first reaction, but he would have to see. Fleur would also have to agree to the test, so he was prepared to slip back to solid in a second.

“It's easier with family, at least,” Fleur explained. She imagined her big brother, when he first came here, was quite on edge. But really, Fleur hadn't stopped loving the island since she arrived. It was full of interesting people, interesting ideas, and interesting adventures to find. It was just a matter of sticking her nose where it presumably didn't belong, and finding something new.

Once Hunter suggested an experiment of his own, Fleur was all grins. “Now we're talking,” she bounded from the balcony and waited right in front of Hunter. So he wanted her to pass right through him? Well, hopefully she did. Otherwise she'd end up tackling her friend right to the ground.

“Of course I'll do it. What the worse that could happen? Hmm... other than end up being fused with you. That'd be awkward.” She stroked her long ponytail, flipping it up and pondering a life with a boy stuck inside of her. Kinda gross, actually.

“I'm ready,” Fleur announced nonetheless. Once Hunter gave the order, Fleur stuck out one hand and just about charged right towards him like a football player. If it didn't work, he'd end up flat on his back in not time.

Keeping himself from ignoring the natural instinct to dodge Fleur's charge, Hunter held still, if a bit stiff, keeping his body untouchable. While watching her approach, Hunter muttered, "Please let this work, please let this work, please let this work!." like a mantra, praying to the universe and whatever deities existed out there that he didn't openly invite himself to being run over again, this time by a human body.

When the serpentine girl should've made contact, her hand meeting where his body should be, it began to pass right through, as if she was just passing through an empty space. As soon as this happened, Hunter let out a victorious, "IT WORKED!" in his mind, but wasn't prepared for what happened next.

As more of his friend began to pass through, he wasn't prepared for his body to let out an intense wave of coldness. It was like by passing through him, Fleur was opening up the door to a freezer rather suddenly. Even in his phasing state, Hunter could somehow feel the wave of chill being released into the area around him. A cold chill ran down his spine, and he was certain that Fleur was having the same reaction.

Once she had made a full pass through him, Hunter, still a little chilled and elated from the success, smiled genuinely and quickly turned to his new and only friend so far. "Thanks so much for doing that. I almost can't believe it worked!"

Fleur also had to avoid the desire to flinch out of the way. She was fairly strong, especially for her size, but that did not mean she could avoid a painful bruising in colliding with Hunter. Even with her hand out in front of her, if she did knock into him Fleur wouldn't have time to keep the rest of her from tackling him as well.

As it turned out, her hand passed through him. That cold sensation tickled along her skin, and Fleur only slowed for a moment when expectations of reality had betrayed her. She charged all the way through Hunter, and her body shivered at the end of it from the chill. It felt creepy, though exactly what she'd expect out of a ghost.

“It did,” Fleur smiled back at Hunter. However, she didn't quite finish taking the chill out of her spine. She wiggled her back and winced, “You really feel like a ghost too, by the way,” she rolled her shoulders about now, trying to warm up her body.

“See what I mean now? You just need to be fearless and experiment. Maybe you'll even jump off from this tower one day,” Fleur teased.
