Closing up the shop early, Monday took the stairs two steps at a time as he hurried to make sure everything was ready for their coven's Valentine's dinner. He had spent a few hours the night before preparing the dishes and rearranging the furniture to make room for everyone - five coven members (hopefully) this year - since Thursday and Friday were off doing their thing as always - as well as Candle and Ganymede and a few extra chairs in case unexpected guests arrived. It was always a good idea to set an extra chair a dinner - or so his mother always used to tell him. You never know who could show up unannounced.

Popping a few things in the oven, Monday ran down the stairs when the doorbell rang and brought up some catered desserts. Monday had asked a bakery in town to do desserts among them were two dozen heart-shaped cookies, a black forest layer cake and some chocolate covered fruit which he put in the fridge until later.

Gabriel had definitely not left it all to Candle to prepare, even though he knew that he could have if he had really wanted to. Candle already did enough helping around the shop, looking after the general housekeeping, Garry and making sure Ganymede was generally okay - all of which he was extremely grateful for.

Seeing that everything was okay for now, Monday checked that Garry was behaving and then went to his room to have a quick shower and change for the evening before his coven started arriving.

For once Tuesday wasn't playing with the idea of being "fashionably late" to a party. A dinner with the coven wasn't necessarily what would have come to mind if she was asked what she wanted to do in Valentine's Day but it was good a good thing to go to. She could spend some quality time with her brother and sister witches, and if she desired any more from the night... well she could always skip out to go to a bar later.

So she was there around when the invitation had requested. Dressed in a classy dark violet dress with black stockings and matching shoes. Cami accompanied her to the door and waited to see her inside but would not be spending the evening there unless Tuesday called for her.

Tuesday knocked on the door, a bottle of decent wine hanging in a bag from her other arm and a single earbud playing music in her ear. She couldn't afford anything too fancy but she knew how to pick good stuff for the money.

Wednesday hadn't paid Valentine's day much thought, the holiday was typically reserved for couples, and while she was starting to make friends on the island, romance was far from her mind with any of them. With no other plans for the evening, a dinner with the rest of the coven sounded appealing. It would be nice if they could all get together and relax, without having to worry about some horrible spell backfire like unlike most of their gatherings.

She was still sore about Monday's notable absence from the last one of those, but she wasn't about to admit that.

She arrived promptly on time, only carrying Frodo in her arms. Wednesday had decided to leave the gift bringing to Saturday, she wasn't sure what the appropriate thing to bring would be. As soon as they got near the door, her cat immediately began to tense up and hiss at the sight of Tuesday.

"Oh don't you start..." She grumbled, letting the cat jump out her hands onto the ground. "Go on, you explore around here. I'll call you when we're done."

The cat complied, padding off as Wednesday pulled her coat tight around her blouse, keeping out the evening breeze while she waited for the door to be answered along with her sister witch.

"Hey, Tuesday." She smiled. "It's a nice night, isn't it?"

It was time for the dinner party, and Ganymede didn't actually have to do any work for it. He could just sit and relax, if he felt like it. He could just attend, eat, talk and go to his room when it was done. He was swelling up with feelings about how far his social standing had come.

He still helped, of course - partly because he felt guilty for doing nothing, partly because he wanted to use his magic. The other witches would notice the area outside Monday's store was totally clear of snow, as well as exceptionally clean and presentable. Ganymede was not dressed very formally as he saw it, wearing a suit with a red tie.

Gany happened to be closer to the door when those knocking sounds started. Not to mention that he was faster than Monday. "I'll get it!" He called through the apartment.

The door opened, and the first thing Ganymede noticed about the two witches is that one of them was terrible. She couldnt hide it behind the fact that she brought wine - Ganymede knew in his heart that the woman was bad news. It made the hairs on his catlike ears and tail stand up on end.

He could still be polite. After a moment's hesitation, he smiled at the two of them.

"Welcome! My name is Ganymede." He would bow very briely to them. "Please come in."

Cami's ears perked up as the other witch approached and she gave a playful growl towards Frodo just because. Then she trotted off after glancing at Wednesday.

Tuesday gave the cat an over-dramatic wave and then waited for the feline to run off before approaching her sister witch. "Guess we're going to another party together," she laughed as she lightly clapped her hand on Wednesday's shoulder. Now free of its knocking duties for the moment. "You're right too, it's a little chilly but otherwise not too bad."

Then the exceptionally polite catperson answered the door. Right, Monday had been taking in quite a bit of "help" around the place lately. Tuesday got the distinct impression she was being sized up or something but shrugged it off. She didn't care.

"Thank you Ganymede," she said as she nodded at him. "I'm Tuesday and this is Wednesday. Is Monday not ready for us yet?" As they spoke she was ready to follow him inside. The bottles were getting damn heavy.

Wednesday blinked in surprised, evidently expecting to see Monday at the door, rather than a small boy. She wasn't very good at reading people, but judging by the feline features, she could make an educated guess what he might be thinking. Sharing a mental link with her familiar meant she was pretty familiar with how cats thought of Tuesday. She hoped it wasn't as bad with someone sentient, but she wasn't familiar enough with the curse to know for sure.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Ganymede." She said after the introduction, giving him what she hoped was a reassuring, friendly smile. She followed after Tuesday, sparing a curious look around inside. She was less familiar with Monday compared to the rest of the coven and she was curious to see how he lived.

Monday and Garry had both heard the door ring, and Monday was thankful Ganymede had decided to answer because he was holding a hot casserole dish of vegetables that he had roasted ... some of them had even darkened to a nice brown crisp.

Setting the dish on a rack, he took off his oven gloves just as a blue streak went zooming past his shoulder towards the door... Garry ... Monday chuckled to himself.

"Wendsday, Tuesday... Wendsday, Tuesday... " Garry squawked happily in greeting, landing close by, when he saw who was at the door. He knew the coven witches - had seen them before and it was a happy surprise to see them again.

Following behind the parrot, Monday grinned when he saw the two witches. It had been quite a while since he had been able to get out of the house safely with all the snow that had been falling. At times, Monday had felt unnaturally anxious, afraid it never would. Thankfully, it had and the roads and paths seemed clear once again.

"Welcome, and thanks for coming tonight," he greeted Wednesday and Tuesday warmly, looking at the two women, just very happy to see them both well, alive, and safe.

"I see you have met Ganymede," he said as he glanced down at the nek0, feeling oddly proud for some reason. "oh, and Garry too," he added laughingly when a loud squawk was heard from behind him, reminding him of his presence.

Tuesday smiled at the very animated bird streaking towards them. "Hey. Got any cute chicks you're sending valentines to today?" She teased Gary as she removed the jacket she had been wearing. Not entirely sure where to put it.

Then her smile turned towards Monday. Unfortunately she hadn't seen a whole lot of him lately. "You know me, call it a party and I'm on my way." It wasn't entirely accurate, but close enough. "Good to see you though Monday."

Tuesday glanced back at Ganymede and nodded. "Probably shouldn't have me sitting too close to them though." The cat ears and tail made it pretty obvious they wouldn't be able to get along.

"Ah, some your guest have finally arrived Monday?" remarked Candle, whom finally made their appearance. The fiery orbs that are their eyes out to the current guests that have arrived. From the gaggle that Candle listened in on earlier, they presumed the two women to be witches Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday spoke of the two of them at great length in previous discussion though this was the first time properly meeting the two of them.

"Greetings ladies Tuesday and Wednesday. I am the one called Candle. I help assist Monday with his store along with other mundanities. It is pleasure to make your acquaintance." politely greeted Candle. Though in actually Candle cared little for either of them, they were esteemed guest of Monday and as guest they should be treated with... respect.

At the mention of Garry sending a Valentine, Monday glanced at the bird strangely ... He had found the curtain in the shop window ... his red damask turn of the last century curtain with an oddly shaped hole (heart?) bunt out of it. He doubted very much that it had been Candle, especially considering the singed cut out was a good 15 cm from the floor... the perfect height for a parrot.

Ignoring Monday quite deliberately now. Garry flapped his wings when Candle came in the room and puffed out his feathers, happy to see her, watching as Monday formally introduced everyone and invited them into the house, offering everyone a drink.

"What can I get you Tuesday? Wednesday? Candle?" Monday asked politely as he looked at Ganymede and told him to help himself to the beverages in the fridge that he had picked up for him when they had gone grocery shopping the day before.
