Preening his feathers carefully, Garry nattered and cooed happily to himself as the warm afternoon sunlight flooded through the huge shop windows of the now quiet antique shop.

It had been so long since the Hyacinth Macaw had seen the sun for longer than fifteen minutes that as soon as Monday had opened the shop, he had flown happily to his perch and had not moved from the general sunlight areas in the store.

In fact, so happy at this reappearance of sunlight, Garry had hopped from sunbeam to sunbeam following the rays of warmth all around the shop. And now, the sun was coming in through the shop windows at an angle, and Garry had flown onto the back top of an early French 19th-century red velveteen and black leather settee, settling down contently as he cleaned his feathers, taking little notice of the world beyond the window pane just a few feet away.

Interior designing was a lot harder than Camille had expected. He had thought he was a natural, that it would be a breeze. But the job included a surprising amount of math, something Cam was horrendous at, and there were some styles he had to use and master even if he hated them.
But the fun parts kept Cam at it and from returning to modeling. And whining at Kal helped as well, even though Cam felt bad about making his boyfriend sit through that.

But today was about pleasure and rewarding himself, as Cam walked happily along the street and window shopped. He had a specific list of things he needed today. Cam was changing up his place a little, call it a small whim of inspiration, and he was hunting for some decor he was lacking. Cam had a lot of money, but he was still trying to stay sma-
Oh my gosh, that lamp is so amazing!
Cam stopped and stepped closer to the window he was just passing. It was an antique shop, that had just the kind of lamp on the window that Cam's mom would've loved. Her birthday was coming up, maybe Cam should add that lamp to the list.
What Cam saw next was maybe even better. There was one of the most beautiful parrots Cam had ever seen on the window. It was strangely good at making the settee it sat on look even better. Cam smiled and walked inside the shop.

Cam looked around, the shop had a very nice air to it, and was full of very nice-looking decor. Cam wasn't an especially big fan of vintage or antique, but he appreciated it and how it looked.
The first thing Cam did, however, was head over to the bird. These kinds of moments were the times when Cam was the happiest about being able to talk to animals.
"Hello~ You're very pretty, what's your name?"

Garry, who had been semi-slumbering and nodding off in the sun, woke himself up when he heard the bell over the shop's door tinkle. Watching the newcomer as he entered Monday's shop, Garry only turned his head and hunkered down in his feathers still a sleepy little parrot.

However, as the man moved towards him, Garry suddenly realised what was happening and stuck out a feathered leg and flapped his wings, stretching a bit as he woke himself up. Then he turned his body around, claw over claw gripping the settee until he was facing the young man. Curious now, Garry bobbed up and down excitedly when he spoke to him.

"Gar-ry," he chirped happily as he looked at the young man excitedly.

(I am assuming Camille is just talking to him normally for the moment.)

Cam smiled and chuckled, when the parrot obediently chirped its name.
"That's a cute name. Nice to meet you Garry."
Cam brought his hand up and stroked Garry's feathers with one finger. He couldn't tell, if the parrot could understand human phrases, or if his animal speech ability was working. Nevertheless Garry didn't seem surprised or anything, most animals were surprised they could understand Camille's words.
"You know, I can understand animals. So you can speak normally, I will understand you. Say..."
Cam looked around in the shop and then smiled at Garry.
"Do you know what kind of things are sold in this shop? I'd appreciate the help of a shop assistant~"

Garry actually stopped and looked at Camille, cocking his head to one side and then the other when he told Garry he could talk normally and he'd understand him. It had been many years, maybe a decade even since Garry had come across an animal speaker.

In fact, he wasn't sure whether to believe him or not, but as Camille continued to gently stroke his feathers, calmly like somebody who was used to dealing with birds, Garry opened his beak to speak, then closed it again rather unsure of himself.

"Antiques," Garry got out uncertainly, his speech sounding like a tiny chirp to anyone nearby, "Monday sells antiques," he tried again, this time a bit more confidently as he looked at Camille, waiting for some sort of confirmation that he had actually understood him.

Garry spoke, and Cam smiled a bit more widely upon hearing the parrot's voice. There had been times when Cam got annoyed at understanding the birds chirping outside his window, or knowing what dogs barked and growled, but during these kinds of moments he was happy to be able to communicate. Cam loved animals.
"I know, and they're great. You and that settee match really well, you make it look very nice."
Cam grinned a bit, and looked down at the settee. It made his spirits rise, it had red, his favourite colour, and Garry was red as well.
"So Monday is the owner of this shop? That's an interesting name. Do I call you Garry, or do you have a different name you'd like to be called with?"

"Oh, wow..." Garry chirped or rather spoke excitedly when Camille confirmed that he could understand him. "You can speak parrot!" he exclaimed very happily as he ruffled the feathers on his whole body excitedly, and then smoothed them flat against his body.

"Yes, Monday is the owner, his name is cursed," Garry explained helpfully as he walked closer to Camille, "He is also the one I chose to be my owner," he added, quite proud of the choice he had made all those years ago.

"I am Garry," he said happily as he reached a foot out to Camille. "Garry is my name," he explained excitedly.

Oh my goodness, this parrot was precious. Cam was squealing internally as he listened to Garry chatter so happily. He had a non-stop happy smile, and nodded along as Garry explained who Monday was.
"Monday must be a great person then, or at least he seems to have a good taste."
Cam chuckled, referring to both the antiques and Garry. He was just going to ignore the cursed name part, Cam had learned to not react to every little curse or spell or constitution by now.

Oh no, a tiny handshake. Cam was barely holding in the squealing as he gave Garry his finger and shook his leg.
"Then Garry it is. And I am Camille, but call me Cam. Do you want to tour the shop with me, or is this sunspot just too comfortable to pass by? I'm sorry if I disturbed your nap, by the way."

"Cam, Camille, Cam..." Garry gushed happily when he introduced himself and shook his claw, very pleased that the young man had known what Garry had meant to do. "Very pleased to meet you," he chirped.

"Tour the shop with you, yes, yes," Garry chattered as he flapped his wings a few times before suddenly taking flight and flying around Camille twice before settling on his shoulder, fluffing his feathers as he made himself comfortable.

"Garry knows, Garry can show you all the things Monday has," he stated proudly from a top his shoulder, feeling very glad to have met Camille and to know that he was able to help him.

Garry didn't seem that hesitant to leave his little spot and happily flew on Cam's shoulder. Cam smiled and brought his hand up to again stroke the parrot's feathers with his finger.
"You can? You're just the expert I needed, thank you Garry."
Cam chuckled and began walking and looking at merchandise.

"So, what do you know about the things sold here?"
Cam asked from Garry after a minute of browsing. The antiques seemed high-quality and genuine, not fake. Cam wanted to see how intelligent Garry was, thus far he seemed to be a bit more intelligent than most birds Cam had met.
