Tekall had waited all day for the gym to empty out. He had nothing against the many students that had been filtering in and out over the course of the day, many of whom were going to gym as part of their PE classes. But Tekall had been growing more and more impatient for a time where he could have the gym to himself, and his own devices. He had so many ideas buzzing around in his head, and he needed to get them out into the real world before he lost them. Now the room was empty, and he could starting setting things up.

For a moment, he stood in the middle of the gym. Hands on hips and his eyes scanning the far walls of the room, Tekall sized-up the space he now had to himself. He smiled and nodded, vigorously, seemingly happy with what he had to work with. Without taking his hands off of his hips, Tekall rose up into the air using his little wings.

"Lets see now... What do I have to work with...?"

As he rose upward, closer to the ceiling, Tekall whipped his head this way and that, looking for something. That something turned out to be a stack of hula hoops, left over from some other activity. He immediately swooped down on them and hauled them away, along with some ropes used for climbing tests.

"Nice. Now then."

Going on a plan known only to him, Tekall began arranging the hoops and ropes along the ceiling. Using the exposed beams, Tekall hung the hoops at various heights around the gym, two hoops per side of the gym. It was far from random. He spent a minute or two getting the right height for each hoop, measuring against the distance from the ceiling or the floor.

"So this will be the Main Goal... And those are Side Goals..."

Wei had just finished his Student Council activities. He'd never been Auditor before, so he had to take a few crash courses with Solis, who was Auditor before him. Solis had been a good Auditor--he had the intimidation factor, he had the cool facade...

The small monkey just couldn't really imitate that. Solis just had a certain bù zhīdào in the way he works that was impossible for Wei to grab onto.

Part of it, he guessed, was because he wasn't that scary. When people saw him they tended to first of all assume he was a small, cute monkey girl. Which could be scary in the right hands. But Wei was not scary. Mostly he was just furry.

Fluffy and fuzzy. Nothing scary about that.

The small student council member strolled into the Gym, looking around. For a moment he thought the place was empty--of both people and things.

It wasn't until he noticed one of the lower hula hoops at the further end of the gym that he realized that he wasn't alone. Looking up, he noticed that the climbing ropes were being used, and someone was flying above his head, doing.... something with them.

Weird.

"Uh," Wei began walking a little closer to the person. Not that it mattered--they were above his head either way. "What are you doing?"

Most of the hula hoops had been strung up in their respective places, It even looked like a completed aerial course of some kind had been completed. But Tekall was unsatisfied. Every time he flew back to the center of the field and looked at all the hoops and their arrangements, he shook his head. Then he was back to adjusting heights and futzing with the exact placements. This process happened several times, and sometimes he even mimicked throwing a ball through a hoop as mental testing.

He had been so wrapped up in his creation that he had not noticed when someone had entered the gym. Even when the person had called out to him from below, he seemingly ignored them. His head was just completely occupied with the tiny details of his goals. Zipping over to a hoop, he started adjusting it once again. That was when he noticed the new person.

"Huh? Oh! Sorry! I didn't see you come in!"

Tekall floated on over to the new person, fuzzy and cute as they were, and stepped back onto the floor.

"Here to check out the early phases of my new sport?"

He pointed upwards to the hoops with a smile.

"I don't have a name for it yet, but maybe you could help me with it.

I'm Tekall, by the way."

Wei watched as the winged man worked, moving and adjusting each hoop slightly. He seemed to be completely engulfed in his work, whatever it was. For a moment, the monkey entertained the thought of calling out to him again, but he didn't want to break his concentration. Instead he just watched as he worked.

The hoops suspended in midair reminded him of the hoops in that book about the wizard boy hidden in Britain, who rode his flying broom and zoomed around the field attempting to catch a small, hard-to-see ball to end the came and clinch victory for his team.

Was that his intention? Did he want to remake the Quidditch game for Starlight Academy?

While in the middle of adjusting a hoop, he seemed to notice Wei sitting there.

"Oh, you're working on a new sport?" Wei asked, looking at the hanging hoops. "That makes a lot more sense than what I thought you were doing."

Wei held out his hand. "I'm Wei Hu Sun. Nice to meet you."

Tekall was almost immediately taken by Wei's appearance. He had never seen anyone so fuzzy and furry. Then again, Tekall had never seen or done a lot things before his enrollment in Starlight Academy. Life on the run meant most of his priorities were about keeping distance from his former master and just staying alive, which left very little time for mingling with people or experiencing the many new things around him. But now that he was seemingly safe at the Academy, Tekall had time to, for example, design his new sport and fawn over his new friend Wei.

Wei's outstretched hand was taken and shaken with enthusiasm and a great big smile.

"Very very very nice to meet you too, Wei!"

The shaking slowed but never really stopped as Tekall used his other hand to point at Wei, complete with a bit of a sideways look.

"And yeah... What else did you think I could be doing? Isn't it pretty obvious?"

Still shaking Wei's hand, and even going as far as to draw Wei even closer, as if to hug him, Tekall turned and motioned toward all the hoops.

"I mean, I don't know. Are there other things people hang up goals for?"

This handshake was going on a lot longer than Wei initially anticipated. Yet he didn't really have the heart to tell Tekall that this was not how long handshakes usually went on for. He seemed so enthusiastic that he just didn't have the heart to do it. Curse his niceness.

When he was pulled closer he wondered if this would be how he died. There were certainly a lot of people at this school, some of whom were predators. Perhaps the fact that he'd just walked up to someone with no thought or hesitation was a bad idea. But when he wasn't eaten, and was instead shown the hoops that were hung in the air, he gave a slow nod.

"I thought you were remaking a Quidditch field. You know, Quidditch? That game where you ride on broomsticks and throws balls into hoops....?"

The continued handshaking finally came to an end when Wei mentioned some weird name, and not just some random weird name. It sounded like it was a name of some other sport that was not the sport that Tekall was currently trying to construct. His gaze whipped around to look at Wei, intensely.

"Kid-Itch? What is this Kid-Itch?"

He sounded a little worried, a little angry and a little curious. Wei's hand was finally released from Tekall's. But his hands found new purchase on Wei's shoulders as he held him still, looking him right in the eyes.

"Is there already a sport for flying people?! Who made it?! Have they made it official yet?!"

Tekall let go of Wei, worried about the future of the sport that he was trying to create. If someone else had already made something similar, it could hurt his chances at spreading his invention to the general public and generating interest. However, even if that was the case, he could study it and perhaps improve on it. If he learned enough about it, he could put enough distinguishing factors into his invention so as to set it apart.

"This could be bad..."

"Quidditch," Wei corrected him.

And he immediately regretted bringing it up. The winged guy (was he a demon? Or a dragon? Maybe a dragon-demon?) seemed to freaking out at the idea of someone having made a flying sport before he managed to get around to it.

He was relieved when his hand was finally released, but was surprised when those same hands found his shoulders and pulled him closer, almost like they were about to start hugging. This was weird. He was not prepared for this today. He wasn't ready to deal with all of this.

Admittedly, Wei was very open to friendships, and meeting new people and making new friends, but this guy was just.... something else.

A whole other flavor.

When he asked if it had been established, that was when it sunk in that he had never heard of Quidditch. "Oh, no, I mean, it's not a real sport. It's a sport from books."

Wei tried to chuckle. "But I guess people will immediately compare your sport to Quidditch...."

"It's not real?!"

Tekall spun back around to face Wei, eyes wide and teeth showing through a a big grin. He wiped his brow in exaggerated relief, and stood up straighter with his renewed confidence.

"Whew! Well, that's a load off my mind! I thought I might've had a bigger challenge getting MY sport out there to the public. But..."

He looked upwards again, at his hoops.

"While I don't like getting compared, maybe I could use some pointers from it..."

Shaking his head, he brought his gaze back down to Wei. Their introductions had been harried, with few words exchanged to get to know each other other than to express his exuberance for his hobby and passion. As his mood calmed, he found himself embarrassed for being so forward and rude with Wei. With a small sigh, he shook himself out of his own head.

"But! But besides that! Are you a student here too? I'm still kinda new here. Learning the ropes and all. So, uh, if I'm breaking any rules here, just, uh, keep it between us? I'll be your friend~"
