Jacob was indeed finding the situation just a tad unsettling. As he set the various glasses down on the table near Uzume, he sensed the harmony that the two women were getting into. They both had the same mischievous twinkle in their eyes, and the alcohol tolerances to put him to shame. If he did not know any better, it would seem that Uzume was going to turn his sweet little Lenn against him after a few glasses of her (admittedly very good) drinks. Of course, it would all start with a little ladies gossip, which he was surprised to find Lenn slipping into quite readily.

"There ya go, indeed..."

Uzume popped open a liquor bottle and started mixing while glancing at Jacob.

"A nightclub, huh? THAT was where you stumbled home from that first night? I didn't take you for a clubbing man, Jacob."

"Y-You saw that?"

"And I saw Lenn sneaking out the morning after. Lucky night for the both of you, I presume?"

It looked like Uzume was just having way too much fun teasing Jacob about his personal life, using the strangely extensive knowledge she had about him, and it was working on him. It was all in good fun, but it was still a sight to see Jacob being taken down a peg by a girl that only just barely came up to his shoulders. While he shuffled slightly bashfully at the idea that his antics with Lenn weren't so under wraps, Uzume remained straight-shouldered and in-command.

"We met when she barged into my place the first time around--"

"We met because I wanted to get to know my neighbor, with drinks."

Uzume poured a two tall glasses and a separate shorter one with a different drink. The two she kept for herself and Lenn, the other was for Jacob.

"Like now. Long Island Ice Tea. My own mix. Anyway, I guess you could say we got close because, like you said, he's a sweet guy."

Jacob smiled a little and took a sip of his own drink, which was more colorful than the ones Lenn and Uzume were drinking. Judging by the slight smell, it was also fruitier, and probably less strong too.

"Well, when it became clear I couldn't stop you from coming in, I sorta just began to roll with it."

"And I'm honestly thankful for it."

Uzume strolled over to the couch and plopped down on it, crossing a leg over the other.

"Coming over here is the only way I can relax from my job without my girlfriend here."

She probably looked like some college student trying to sneak out of the dorms with shoes in her hands. It was a tad bit creepy how close tabs were kept upon Jacob. It felt like Uzume was the residential lady that poked her nose into people's business...Or person in this case. She'd probably make an excellent person in charge for the local neighborhood watch. Speaking of that night, it went...smoothly up until the point where she was too drunk to do anything and took comfort into Jacob's sheets instead. Then again, it worked out anyway because instead of a one-time fling, here she was moving in with him...Even if it was for a unique situation.

The girl was sharp and Lenn didn't expect anything to go past her...and it was also amusing as hell watching Jacob squirm from the antics of a someone who he had to look down at height-wise. She thanked her for the drink and well, everything sort of made sense. There were people out there that simply clicked together like pieces of a puzzle coming together. She could see why though. Jacob was a really nice guy and those were extremely hard to come by; a rarity in her job. Those guys were the first ones to go and Jacob almost fell into that lot. That's why she decided to put down her gun...or just hide it, really. Paranoia lasts forever.

One thing that was new though was the fact that now she too was lounging on the couch with her new neighbor. And to think it took nearly four drinks for her to somewhat warm up to Jacob's presence the first time they met...

Socializing was kind of cool. It was another way to gather information and it didn't involve mentally breaking people or punching the intel out of someone. It was relaxing and the drink was delicious. Best part of all the whole thing was spatter-free. Now an interesting (and sort of relieving) thought was the casual say about Uzume's 'girlfriend'. "Oh? Keepin' away from 'yer woman? You two aren' gettin' along er' sumthin?" curiosity was aroused, but wait...That was none of her business. Maybe she should throw something in there. "Ah, sorry luv'. None of moi buisness there."

"Oh, no. You misunderstand. I would rather relax with her, but I can't right now. Professional obligations are keeping us apart at the moment."

Uzume was starting off strong with her drink. The first sip she took of it was a long one, leaving the glass almost half empty by the time she pulled it away from her lips with a satisfied sigh. The smirk she gave Lenn immediately after it almost looked like a non-verbal challenge. Jacob himself was taking his time with his drink while he sat in a lounge chair next to the two women.

"Yeah. How's Shiren doing anyway?"

"Busy. Her father is still training her to take over the company. Which leaves me high and dry. *sigh* But it looks like I got a NEW friend to keep me company now."

She held up her glass to Lenn to toast.

"So tell me a little about yourself, Lenn. It's been so long since I've had a little girl talk, and throwing around Jacob for a spar gets old really quickly when he can't fight for nothing."

Jacob chuckled behind his glass. In addition to barging into his apartment to hangout with him, Uzume also had a fondness for using him as a training dummy to keep her martial arts training from getting rusty. Obviously Jacob had been too busy lately to indulge her in that, but he wondered what she would think once she saw that he had developed some fighting prowess recently. No longer would he be the subject of getting thrown to the mat by a woman half his weight in the middle of the gym.

"And if you want, we can do a little trade-sy. A bit about you, a bit about me. Maybe an embarrassing secret about Jacob~"

When Lenn thought about it, she had no idea how Jacob really fought and that apartment incident hardly counted for anything. It was more of a hit-and-run situation. What she did know was that Jacob was lousy at dodging bullets. Honestly, when she looked back at that situation besides Jacob nearly dying on the operating table, it was kind of...funny to her. It was funny in a sense of that there were a ton of morons trying to ice a single woman and her lover. There were...What, ten? Fifteen? Twenty of them? She couldn't keep track. It was hard when your body felt like it was about to melt and there were men stitching bullets into your apartment walls. Hopefully the security deposit helped with the mess...

She took a generous sip of her drink and she would have been lost in thought if it weren't for Uzume wanting to know some 'embarassing' things about Jacob. Hm, talking about Jacob being lousy at avoiding pot shots was probably a bad idea. She shrugged with a smile. "Well so far, Jacob's off th' hook. Sometoimes he can snore loud enough to wake th' ded, but thas' all oy' can give ya fer now," she casually said and finished off her drink. That was a safe play. Ah well, she was going to be living with him now. Surely he was going to slip up at some point.

"As fer me...Well, oy' model for a few gun magazines...It's fun. Pays pretty decent. There wasn't much excoitement in m'life 'till he decided t'bug me in tha' noightclub," she said with a laugh. In a way, this whole thing was a bit more exciting than a mission. It almost felt like she was an agent; a spy that had to keep her second idenity under wraps.

Jacob cocked his head a little at Lenn's snoring comment.

"I-I do? No, I don't! Do I?"

There was just the tiniest hint of slurring in Jacob's speech, and he was already starting to sway gently from side to side. Uzume might have made Jacob's drink on the light side, but it was relative to her own tolerance with alcohol. Jacob was damn cheap date, so even Uzume's not-that-hard cocktails were guaranteed to have him out in about three glasses, sometimes two. Uzume was well aware of that too, and she giggled to herself as she watched Jacob try and come to terms with the snoring revelation.

"My my. Something I DON'T know about you, Jacob. I like that."

She too finished her drink and the glass up while she looked at it pensively.

"There's a lot you don't know about me."

"Oh, please. I don't have to root around in your garbage for clues. You're an easy read.

Just like your photos, Lenn. I knew I've seen you somewhere else before. YOU were that woman in one of my subscriptions making that sniper rifle feel like a king. Got a thing for guns?

Jacob seemed to perk up a little at the question from behind Uzume's back. The question seemed a little too on-the-nose to him. It might have seemed to follow logically from Lenn's mention of her modeling shoot, but with Uzume...

Lenn knew exactly where this was going. Uzume was sharp for a reason. She was observant...Perhaps too observant for her own good. Then again, Lenn couldn't jump to any conclusions (or to the gun in her bedroom) based upon an observation. Poker-faced Lenn remained unfazed. Of course Uzume would have recognized her from the magazines. Although it was one hell of a coincidence that Uzume was subscribed to The Gentleman's Gun, there wasn't any proof that Uzume knew what Lenn really was behind the lingerie. This was just a shot in the dark.

Uzume must have been talking about the front cover of the twenty-fourth issue. The lingerie shot with the Barret 50 Cal was by far the photographer's favorite. There were other photos, but that particular one seemed memorable. Plus it felt good, cold, and heavy in her hands. "Oh? Heheh, ye' thas' me alroigh' with the fifteh cal. Th' love of guns comes with th' family oy' suppose..." She shrugged nonchalantly, " Oy' didn' know you were into guns yerself! So wot do you do? Hunting? Naw...Tha' don't sound loike you..Though oy' know you'd make a great hunta'..." There were only a few select people that were involved with guns; people like her, collectors, and...cops. It was a shot in the dark that was too suspicious to take. Hopefully she wasn't playing host to an officer of the law...

It was apparent from the way he slumped back a little in his chair that Jacob was relieved that Lenn deflected Uzume's question so well. When Uzume had first barged into his apartment, Jacob had his suspicions about her motives.

The one thing he probably should have told Lenn was that Uzume was a private investigator, and a good one at that. The petite woman was like a blonde Sherlock Holmes in a pressed black suit. That was why she seemed to know everything about Jacob. If that was not bad enough, she had a strange sense of humor that hinged on her leveraging her abilities to just tease and kid around with Jacob. When the booze came out, he thought that maybe Uzume really was just looking to have a bit of fun. Then that question came up. It was the way she asked it, and he knew that tone. She was digging. Lenn and Jacob both seemed to know that that was not a good thing.

"Oh, I could definitely see the love you were showing that rifle. Though..."

She picked up both their glasses, and snatched up Jacob's, before heading back to the table to make more.

"... I doubt that it wasn't even getting half of what Jacob is probably getting~"

Jacob blushed brightly, but kept looking to Lenn to see if she was okay.

"I'm not much of a hunter actually. I'm more of a... finder. I look for things. People. Clues. And then I put them together."

Uzume returned with their glasses refilled. Jacob swigged his quickly with a nervous gulp.

"W-What's with all the mysterious talk, huh? You ain't gonna play mind games now, are ya?"

"You know I like playing games, Jacob. They're so fun! Solving puzzles is fun... Like the puzzle of that red... mess out in the hallway recently..."

Well in a sense Uzume was a hunter; a hunter of people like her who danced outside of society's law. Lenn loved being right about a lot of things, but she didn't like being right about this one. Uzume was following the breadcrumbs and the more she went for them, the deeper she was going to go until the point of no return. The young blonde was treading on dangerous territory and whether Jacob liked it or not, Lenn was going to show Uzume just how deep the rabbit hole goes... For now, Lenn was keeping herself on a leash.

She knew there was going to be people asking about the incident, but dammit, it had to be this particular person. Lenn knew what kind of games Uzume was playing and did not like that one bit. Still, she played along with chuckles from the earlier comments made about her and Jacob. This particular time though... She was listening intently. Of course, anyone would be curious as to why there was blood in a place where there was virtually no form of danger. She calmly took her drink from their guest. Lenn sighed, now looking a bit...disgruntled. "Yeh...Alroigh' you got me...Jacob didn' want me tellin' you this, but yer prolly' gonna find out eventually," Lenn confessed and craddled the drink in her hands. "You see...'Oy thought it wos' a fun oydea to teach him 'ow to shoot so we went outsoide of town. Got everythin' all set up an gave 'em my custom noineteen-eleven. It was fun n' oy' learned e's a lousy shot...So oy' gave 'em a chance at strip-shooting...an he dropped the gun. My custom has a hairloine-triggah' an' as a fellow gun-nut, oy'm sure y'know where tha' led to..."

It was a common thing for idiots to get shot by their own handguns by tweaking the triggers to a stupid degree. The trigger would be loose enough to crank off shots faster than a normal gun would, but at a price that it could misfire at anytime if the safety were off. Many people ended up in the hospital just because their guns misfired in their holsters or dropped it. It was a plausible story and she didn't mind being called an idiot. It was better than snapping her new neighbor's neck. "Stupid me thought oy' could treat 'em back at home, but oy' didn' see how bad it wos...So oy' took 'em to th' hospital..." She took a generous sip of her drink once again, sighing as the alcohol burned her forked tongue. " 'Oy choked up, panicked...It wos all my fault...Still feel pretty bad about it..." Her eyes softened up just a bit. No, she didn't feel bad about lying considering she had to do it nearly twenty-four seven, but her carelessness that night almost got Jacob killed. If she had been adamant about him staying home, if only she had her skills during the time... "Sorry...t'kill the mood....But there ya hav' it."

Jacob felt his mouth begin to open to add more to Lenn's story, but he clammed up quickly. He knew that even if he wanted to add more "evidence" to corroborate Lenn's tale, he would probably end up either piling too much on and making it obvious that he was trying to bolster a lie, or he was just going to say something that would make Lenn's story harder to believe. Lies on top of lies made explanation harder, ask any young child that tried to get out of trouble and just kept building a bigger ball of lies.

So instead, he busied his mouth with his newly-refilled drink. His body shivered at how strong it was this time around. With that one gulp he could already feel himself getting tipsy. Meanwhile, Uzume nodded along with Lenn's story.

"Mmhm. That's why you never try to teach a newbie on a custom. You should've stuck with a stock gun. But it sounds like everything worked out. Poor Jacob though... At least you tried to teach him something nice. Self-defense is always a nice skill..."

Uzume sipped her drink and, at that exact moment, as if timed perfectly, Jacob started to lean his head uncomfortably back in his chair. The drink fell from his hand onto his lap and then onto the floor. He was nearly sliding out of his chair by the time Uzume finished her sip. With a knowing smirk and a glint in her eye, she looked at Lenn.

"... And now he won't have to know why you tried to teach him how to shoot, hm? You think you really need his back up when the vendettas come to bite you in the ass?"

Completely unafraid of Lenn, Uzume rose from the couch and walked over to Jacob's passed-out form. She picked up the glass and set it on the table.

"Jacob is pretty naive sometimes. But I never thought he'd fall for a hired killer. You must have really won him over with that lingerie model cover. Then again, he does have a thing for younger women..."

It became immediately clear that Uzume was well aware of what Lenn was in reality. However, it also seemed that she was not exactly on the right track. She assumed that Jacob did not know about Lenn's past, and that Lenn was keeping that a secret from him.

Well she figured she'd give it her best shot. It was pretty bad timing for Jacob to pass out though because he could at least give some sort of validity that she was officially 'retiring'. Then again, it was one hell of a coincidence that Jacob just so happened to pass out on the second drink. He was a weak drinker, but not that weak. That was just paranoia talking, but still with Uzume's behavior and remarkably brilliant deductive skills...She didn't put it past her.

Really. She was really trying to be on her best behavior, but the more Uzume pried, the more twitchy her fingers felt. After all, she didn't kill anyone (shock, I know) during the shootout so technically it had been months. Still, that didn't mean she was rusty. Instead she feigned ignorance and laughed about these 'supposed' vendettas. Whether they decided to come back for round two or not, it didn't matter. She was going to tear them apart and make their lives a living hell if they so much as lay a finger on Jacob.

Lenn had to hand it to Uzume though. She was perfectly aware of who's killing range she was in and Lenn didn't need the Kimber 1911 under the couch to put down some serious harm. For a while, she left the detective in silence and decided to politely finish off the newly made drink. It didn't matter if there were drugs. They would pass through her system too quick for Uzume to do anything with that. Well, the cat was out of the bag. There was no use in hiding it. She sighed, this whole thing turning out to be nothing but bothersome. Of course, of all types of neighbors, she had to have one who was a law-abiding citizen. Just her rotten luck. "Thas'...Ex-hired killer to you, Miss Detective," the ice shifted in her cup. "It's loike you people want me to come out of retirement..."

She rose from her seat, heading in Uzume's direction with a...well, with a smile on her face. Who knew what the ex-hitman was thinking? It was probably hard to tell and to most, it would be unnerving. Instead of attempting to inflict serious bodily harm, she calmly reached past Uzume, picking up the little glass and heading for the sink. "Y'made 'is drink too strong. 'Ell have a hangovah in th' morning..." And the stain..gotta git rid of that first thing.

That wasn't the only thing she was thinking of. Should she remind Uzume that Jacob was very well aware of her past? This wasn't going to go well either way, but maybe it would have the detective back off just a bit. "Well thas' somethin' you don' mention on th' first date, love," Lenn chuckled and took a clean glass from the cabinet, filling it with tap water. Aspirin had to be somewhere...

" Oy' let him know on the fifth date." There it was. She tore a pair of capsules from the packaging and set it beside the water on the counter. Lenn was mighty curious as to how Uzume was able to obtain such rare pieces of information, but for now she turned, leaning against the counter, arms folded across her chest. "Well then? Congrats, love. You found yerself a retired professional killer. Wot do you plan to do about it?"
