Coraline had managed to convince her handlers to leave her alone within the confines of the school after explaining that the school would be quite safe enough without them.

They argued long and hard against her wishes, but she eventually managed to convince them, with the help of a few of the islands snakes, poisonous and otherwise. The princess was walking the halls of the school, familiarizing herself with the halls, and where her classes would be. She politely greeted those she noticed walking down the halls, Mr.Slithers telling her when she was about to run into someone or something.

Mr.Slithers had most of his body wrapped around Coralines waist, the first few feet of his body resting along Coralines back, his head over her shoulder, catching the gaze of those walking bye. The green-haired girl was hissing back and forth to her snake in a heated argument about what they could smell from a class room, such a heated debate neither of them noticed that she was sti walking, not paying attention.

She bumped into another figure, and fell over, her spear clattering to the ground. She was a little disoriented, but Mr.Slithers' hissing helped her clear her head.

"I'm sorry, I was not paying attention."

Enelen was trying to make a point of walking around the school. Not because he needed to get around the school, but because he needed to walk. He teleported everywhere, and it meant his muscles were akin to limp noodles. Something as basic as walking up a flight of stairs was enough to wind him. He really had no physical abilities. Everything that could be done with magic, was.

He was exhausted before he was halfway through the school, and then life had to go and cap it off by having someone run into him. He actually fell to the ground, although he didn't drop his staff. A lifetime of living with it meant he wasn't going to let it go unless someone was actively trying to break his fingers.

He picked himself up with a small huff, glancing across the scene. A strange girl - a student, probably - with a snake wrapped around her. And a-

For a brief moment his heart fluttered with recognition. A staff. But it wasn't a staff - just a spear, and he let out a sigh, straightening himself up properly.

"It's fine. Are you alright?"

Coraline picked herself off the ground, Mr.Slithers moving from around her waist to wrap around one of her legs, slithering towards the ground and coiling nearby.

"I am fine, thank you." She said, before kneeling down and tapping the floor with her fingers, looking for her staff. Mr.Slithers hissed at her, and she hissed back, her hand instantly moving to wrap around the spear, standing up with it.

A faint, weak pulse of magic spread throughout the ground as she tapped it whilst standing up. Not strong enough to let her see, sadly. The ground here was just too artificial.

"Are you injured?" She asked as her snake started sliding back up her leg, watching Enelen closely as he did.

Blind? Blind. Enelen was fairly observant, and it didn't take a genius to realize that someone groping around the ground for their spear, combined with those odd white eyes would be blind. He supposed he probably should have gotten her staff for her - that was probably the correct thing to do, wasn't it? Only he hadn't wanted to. Grabbing another mage's staff was a pretty big violation of personal space, and even if a spear was no staff, it was close enough that his instinct would never be to reach out and grab it.

"No." He said simply, using his hands to dust off the dirt that his robes had collected during their brief stay on the ground. "And you didn't answer my question about if you were injured." Maybe she was deaf? Quite possible. Often things like that came in groups, didn't they?

Coraline dusted her skirt off once she stood back up, spear in hand. She made sure she had a better grip on it before responding to Enelen, idly noting that he was quite rude as to not have offered to help. Maybe he just had his hands full? That made sense to the princess.

"I did. I said that I was fine." She noted, Mr.Slither slithering over to Enelen's legs, sniffing at the age.

"Are you a student here?" She asked, realizing she could use this. Maybe she could make a friend and get a tour of the school at the same time. She smiled proudly at that thought. Ha! Take that handlers, she could do things on her own. "I'm new, and i'm trying to find my way around."

Enelen was almost indignant. Almost. He opened his mouth, ready to protest that no, no he was not a student, before realizing that she was blind - she literally couldn't see him. As far as she knew, she'd just run into a random person at the school.

"No, I'm not a student here - I'm a professor. Did the school not offer to tour you around? They have students offering them at the admissions office." The snake was making him wary. Why was it moving so close to his feet? He shifted his staff, nudging the snake away with the base of it. "I can direct you if you're looking for something in particular." He supposed that much would be easy, but he wasn't going to be willing to give someone a full tour of the school. That was why they had student tour guides after all. He had better things to do with his time then lead around every newcomer.

Coraline paused. He...wasn't a student? She blushed slightly in her embarrassment. Mr.Slithers hissed at being moved, and simply continued to slither around Enelen. The snake sensed power in the male, and he wasn't sure if he trusted the mage.

Coraline looked down, gripping her staff. "...My handlers didn't like the look of the students and wouldn't let me get a tour..." She said, quietly.

Enelen let out a sigh, nudging the snake away again. Why did it keep doing that? Was it even intelligent? Why was she even allowed a snake that was going to just wander around? If it was a pet, it should stay with her. If it was autonomous... Well, that was a whole other ball of wax.

"Then they were idiots. The school has an entire program to ensure competent students are giving the tours." He paused, glancing around before glancing down at the snake. "Unless your 'handlers' are the snake, they've left you alone now, so I'll walk you to the office and instruct them to give you a tour." Who had handlers? Was she so incompetent that she couldn't be trusted to walk around on her own without handlers?

Coraline huffed and pouted. Of course her handlers were idiots. They didn't like the look of the two students who were currently assigned to do the tours, so they refused to let her take one. She was eventually able to convince them that she needed to go wander around the school to get familliar with the building, but she was sure they'd eventually come looking for her.

"His name is Mr.Slithers, he's my pet. A familliar of sorts." That's what the wise woman said, though Coraline wasn't 100% sure what it meant though. "He's not my handler, he is much smarter than them."

She hissed at the snake, and he returned to her quickly, slithering up her leg and wrapping around her waist and stomach, hissing at her. She hissed back, and nodded at Enelen.

"That would be appreciated, thank you very much sir."

Enelen was a bit... dubious about the idea of snakes being intelligent at all. Certainly they had some intelligence, but there was a reason that snakes were not the dominant species on the planet. Hell, they didn't even have thumbs. Personally, he subscribed to the theory that people who could talk to animals invested them with a certain amount of magic by default, which enhanced their intelligence beyond the usual. That would explain why people could have whole conversations with otherwise unintelligent creatures, and yet ordinary snakes made no attempt to communicate or evolve beyond the utter basics of a predator's place in the environment.

He'd believe snakes were truly intelligent when he saw a snake that hadn't been in contact with an animal manipulator using tools.

He gestured behind him, starting the fairly short walk back to the administration wing and the main office. "The students are compensated for doing tours, and they're all working from the same information. You should speak to the administration about getting rid of your handlers. You're an adult, and having babysitters undermines that."

He hated walking.
