Events were a good start for any newcomer to socialize. And Aura figured it would be nice to see what events looked like here in the academy. Not that she'd die if she doesn't get the chance.
She lurked in the corners, near the tables, but she didn't sit down just yet. The night was young, and her feet can take standing up for a while more even with her black three-inches-high wedge sandals. If she seats down, she'd only waste her effort of dressing up nicely for the ball. Her forehead down to her nose was covered by a half mask etched with black roses. Her hair, temporarily dyed purple, was tied up to a high ponytail. Her wavy hair still flowed down on her back, and her hair on the sides of her head freely draped over her shoulders. She was wearing a dark purple dress with a high waist line. It was plain, and the fine silk dropped to her ankles like waterfalls as outline to her shape. Its only designs were the small shiny beads on the waist length just a couple of inches below her chest. Her sleeves were just as flowy, reaching to her elbows.
She was walking around, observing. Observing was what she always does best and she learned best this way, with many things. Tonight, so far, she learned how people danced in a masquerade ball, and how everyone acted so formal. People would approach one another as strangers at first. Or at least that's how they made it seem. She sighed. On her part, everyone really was a stranger.
