Running Into Bad People

Vidi had been in the city. He didn't like it as much, but since succeeding the role for the Rosales' gang he was made to move around more than he preferred. He told Shay he wouldn't be participating as much but the gang's people were quick to turn their heads to his direction. He'd hesitated at first, but in the end, he couldn't say no.

The demon looked down on the girl that had ran into him, looking down on her with blank eyes. He'd kept his ground not to fall back, but he could have also handed it to the support of one of the members that chose to walk with him. Lilac eyes stared down at the girl as she profusely apologized, as if they were trying to figure her out; actions and mannerisms and all.

Following the girl's gaze, he found a crowd that appeared to come to their direction. They didn't look like some pleasing company, he thought. The person that stood behind to call for him, noticing his odd silence. "Vidi?"

Vidi only gave him a glance before he spoke to the girl, "No harm done, miss," he said, kindly dismissing her. He threw a glance at the approaching group, a little curious. Fully ignoring the quiet whisper of his companion he turned back to the girl, "Having problems?"

Vidi and his companion stayed quiet, just as he'd always acted, especially in tense situations -- he wouldn't consider this tense though. A roadblock perhaps, or just an interruption to journey back home. Being in his position while still being a college student made it that his time was expertly organized; not a single moment wasted. His companion was keen to remind him that, "Vidi, I do believe we still have things on schedule. "

The other group approached, their presence seemingly tickling the child of Envy in him for a brief moment. He shrugged it off as he eyed the other man down as they came close. The other gang member seemed like he was first offended by how casual he'd spoken to their boss but Vidi showed no reaction, even raising his hand to keep them from doing anything rash. The hellion's expression remained aloof.

"You're mistaken, I'm in no way associated with this girl," he said. "But I don't really appreciate how you seem to be referring to her as an object. It would be better for all of us if you be on your way and leave her be."

The man behind VIdi seemed to step forward, as if he would have attempted to shield the hellion if he hadn't been stopped by the demon in question. Edward simply towered over Vidi but he didn't falter, looking back into his eyes with the same apathy in his gaze that he showed Caspian. "Mhm, I'd guess it's easy to tell what I am. Though I highly doubt you know who you're actually talking down to," he told him, an equal calm in his tone, but seemingly far colder.

Vidi stood his ground, never really making a move as to prevent a scene. Edward moved away on his own, and the demon just blinking as he moved to grab the girl. For a moment, the pair seemed to simply watch and stare as she was dragged away; and yet even before either of them could do anything, Caspian had acted out on her own behalf, summoning blades to trap her captors for her to escape.

At any instance, Vidi's guard would have made the effort of standing before Vidi when the girl ran to him if the latter hadn't been insistent in keeping the man standing behind him. Quite honestly, Vidi hated the gesture. He also wouldn't have equally appreciated how Caspian decided to apologize for something he wouldn't have cared much about. Before she got past him, he made a grab for her arm, effectively stopping her there.

"Razon, call your unit over and handle the situation. I'll meet back up at the manor," he commanded. The man addressed seemed to frown but there was no discussion to be done, and he did what was ordered. The demon on the other hand turned the other way, taking along Caspian along with him. He didn't say anything until they've made a turn at the next corner, but even then he didn't turn his gaze to her nor did he stop walking "Apologies don't really cut to replace lost time; so why don't we just waste it altogether?"

Vidi stopped in his tracks when Caspian had wrenched herself free from his grasp, turning to her with a brow raised in query. If he had been apologetic for roughly handling her, it didn't appear on his face nor did he voice it out; if anything he looked just about exhausted enough to even address the issue.

"Between you and me, I'm the one needing a break here," he finally replied, responding to the girl's smirk with a wry smile of is own. "While you've been running around, I've had Razon's hawk eye following me around the whole day and constantly reminding me about my schedule." Vidi dropped the smile, running his fingers through his hair as a tired, heavy sigh left him.

By then the mask he'd put up since earlier was gone and it would have been clear in his eyes how much whatever he had up in that schedule was running him dry. It wasn't the lifestyle he'd been born to, Vidi knew, he wasn't even fit for the role but for some convoluted reason, all heads turned to him after the legal guardianship for his siblings had been settled.

"Apologies," he said, voice sounding a little stiff as if the word itself had been foreign to him not too long ago. "I needed an out. If you want to leave, you're free to go. You won't need to worry about those guys following you; I'm pretty sure they have their hands full right now," he explained to her, though vague as it sounded. If he were to be honest, even he didn't want to think what his people were doing at the moment.

Hesitation seemed to stop him from talking further for just about a second, seeing the flushed look from the girl. A little earlier he wouldn't have noticed anything but sitting around Shay with this face for long enough provided him a reference. Vidi averted his eyes from hers, almost like keeping eye contact with her had made him a bit self-conscious. "I'm heading downtown to a cafe to wind down. If you're interested, I don't mind the company."

After getting a positive reply from her, Vidi turned on his heel, subtly offering an arm for Caspian with practiced ease before they went on their way. The quiet whisper of anxiety at the back of his mind was pleasantly silenced that she hadn't declined the offer once she stood next to him.

"I can make a guess from what happened there," Vidi replied as she tried to explain her part, "I wouldn't be going out if I had that sort of company around me if I were you. But I guess your way's rather admirable if anything." Though regardless of company, Vidi would have preferred the comfort of home over anything.

The hellion glanced towards Caspian, right on cue to catch the bright expression she had on her face -- neither would have noticed but both turned away at the same moment with Vidi feeling the self-conscious side of himself resurfacing for a second which he managed to brush off once he spoke.

"No reason to apologize," he began, his gaze forward as they continued on their path, "And I do think they have iced tea and chips, last I visited. If they don't we can move on elsewhere -- there isn't any problem with that."

The pair would have found themselves in front of a quaint-looking cafe after the short walk; a little rustic in design but it gave off a spring feeling with its theme. Vidi was never one for it, but along the way of being dragged to various establishments for meetings, he found a strange comfort in the natural lighting of this particular cafe.

Finding his calm once again, he freed his arm from her hold, only to lift her hand up with his other when he turned towards Caspian, a small smile on his face as he spoke. "Ah-- Right. Excuse my rudeness, I never made a proper introduction, did I? Vidi Rosales, pleased to be acquainted." Vidi lifted her hand, placing a light kiss on her knuckles in a quick movement as he did. "Caspian, I presume?"
