Personality Description:

Wanderlust: Mimzu enjoys exploring and seeing new things. The unfamiliar is exciting for her but her tendency to wander leaves her ending up in places she should not be.

Finder Keeper: Likes to collect seemingly mundane objects and add them to her growing collection of nick-knacks. If they find something of interest that is own by someone else, they may attempt haggle said object of interest off the person.

Good Natured: Is kind and has a friendly disposition to anyone they meet. They are young and naïve but their heart is in the right place.

Active Abilities:

Enthrallment: Mimzu is able to dominate the minds of marine creatures nearby and exert control over them. Smaller creatures like fish and crustaceans they can control with ease and requires little concentration to command swarms of lesser sea critters. Bigger and complex forms of sea life like sharks and large squids requires more concentration from Mimzu whom can only control a few of these animals at any one time. Highly intelligent and very large sea creatures like seals and cetaceans are near impossible for Mimzu to enthrall and is only able to compel these creatures to distance themselves from her. Though they are not able to control merfolk and other sentient seabound beings, they are able to cause intense headaches for a single individual at time. Species whom originate on land are unaffected by Mimzu’s attempts to control and enthrall them to her bidding.

Echolocate: Relies quite bit on echolocation to navigate around in her deep-sea environment. Underwater this allows to “see” nearly 2.5 miles out in the ocean but on land her natural sonar is not as effective, being only about to make out things with their echolocation up to 300 feet.

Crab Calvary: A large crustacean of uncommon size, Mimzu relies on her mount to carry them onto land. An oversize glass dome (hypothesized to have come from an old diving bell) is saddled atop the giant crab's back and held securely with braided rope. It is within this glass dome filled with sea water that Mimzu resides in while carried onto land. The crab itself is incredibly strong being able the carry the weight of 2.5 tones on its back even out of the water. The crab is also capable of surviving out of the water for several days and its omnivorous diet allows it to be feed a large variety of food. The crab's tough shell is as durable as plate mail and its claws capable of splintering the trunk of an average tree. While powerful, the crab is naturally cumbersome and slow, capable of moving up to a modest 10 mph

Language Charm(Deep Mermish): Mimzu also possess a simple language charm to help translate the natural tongue used by her mermaid clan into something that English speakers can understand.

Passive Abilities:

Glowlight: Can use bioluminescence to light the area several feet around her for a few feet. They are able to control the brightness of bioluminescence but it can’t be entirely turned off.

Aquatic: Adapted to life in the water, Mimzu is able to breath underwater and is able to swim up to 25 knots.

Darkvision: Living in the depths where little to no light ever reaches, Mimzu’s large eyes is able to use what little light there is to see perfectly in the darkness as a human would in sunlight. Mimzu's eyes are also well tuned to the green/blue specturm of light but are unable to see the color red.

Pressure Resistant: Is able to withstand the crushing pressures of the ocean depths.

Regenerative Healing: Is remarkably hardy and can heal from nearly any physical injury if given a few days to recover. Only extreme and sudden trauma such an organ failure or excessive bleeding can lead to Mimzu to expire.

Shell-Cracker: Don’t let those little conical choppers fool you, they are quite capable of breaking shells of crabs, mollusks, and even sea turtles if given the chance.

Long-Lived: While the maximum lifespan of her particular species is unknown, their slow metabolism suggest that she could live up to several centuries.

Weaknesses:

Conductive: Their salty flesh is highly conductive and thus more vulnerable to electric shocks. Even minor shocks can cause her spasm uncontrollably.

Light Sensitive: Like many deep-sea denizens, Mimzu eyes are poorly adapted to operate in bright and well-lit areas endemic to surface life. While they are able to cover their eyes with their hair to shield them, this leaves her unable to see and will require her to use her other senses or someone else’s guidance to navigate around.

Thin-Skinned: Their thin, translucent skin makes them vulnerable to the deadly rays of the sun can makes her prone to desiccation. Thus they have to keep themselves moist and can only really afford to be out of the water for more than 10 minutes.

Biography:

Emerging from her frail egg in the deepest and dark depth of oceans abyssal plane, tiny hatching cried out for those who did not come. They cried out again but meet only with disheartening silence as the empty eyes of titanic skulls looked on with indifference. As those bony leviathans that laid motionless in the ocean muck, the newborn braved into the blackness, their cries carried along the ocean floor for any who would listen as they swam into the pitch blackness. They sung their lonesome melody until at last they were finally answered! Were they the family they longed to find and their search to be over? The hatching swam as far as their fins could take her but their endless swimming made them tired. Struggling to keep up, they collapsed into ocean floor, cushioned by the organic ooze as they slowly closed their eyes. But when they next awoke, they found themselves carried in the tender arms of an elderly merman, tended by a band of fellow merfolk. And those she looked nothing like herself, she knew that she finally found the family she had been looking for.

After her recovery, they were adopted by the Dulla-Di clan and raised by the elderly merman who found her, naming her Mimzu. They were raised under the careful watch of the elder merman, to whom she took to calling him her Pappy, and raised in the ways and culture of the Dulla-Di clan. The clan’s nomadic lifestyle suited Mimzu well whom had a natural appetite to explore and collect trinkets on the ocean floor there her natural tendency to wander has cause a few problems growing up. Despite lacking any talent to undoing curses which clan Dulla-Di was so famous for, it was discovered that Mimzu possess some ability to dominate the minds of lesser marine animals. It was seen as a novel ability at first but some members grew concerned as Mimzu started was able to control larger and more dangerous creatures such as sharks. Their worry naturally gravitated to thought that Mimzu may use their ability to control them. Even with this mistrust against Mimzu, they were still seen as family and thus tolerated by the Dulla-di clan. Though never told directly, Mimzu overhead whispers regarding these concerns against her and began to fear her own powers and the growing suspicion compelled her to stick more to the outskirts of wherever the clan made camp so to lessen their worries. This arrangement worked well but all that began to change with the arrival of princess Illu of the Ta’zzi clan.

Though Mimzu was a bit smitten with the exotic Ta’zzi princess, she was unsure about this magical island she promised to take them as she preferred the nomadic and elusive ways of her people. But was Izzu preached about how wonderful this Manta Carlos was the more Mimzu found herself a bit intrigued with the place the princess speaks so fondly of. Though it took Illu some haggling to finally get the leaders of the clan to agree to move to the island, when the news finally Mimzu couldn’t help but feel both nervous and excited for the development. Upon reaching the island, Mimzu was ready to explore the island but was forced to stay in the waters around the island to tend to of her sickly and aging Pappy. With Pappy’s health continuing to deteriorate. He used what little strength he had to make arrangements for Mimzu to be taken care of while tending to school on the surface as well as trying to work out who will take care of Mimzu should he pass away. Understanding his adopted daughter’s reluctance to alter her appearance, he also helped Mimzu create her own means of transportation by strapping a giant glass bowl onto the giant deep-sea crab to carry her onto the land. While a bit cumbersome, it works well for Mimzu is finally ready to explore the wonderful Manta Carlos as told by princess Illu!

Resources:

Mimzu owns and relies on a giant crab as her survive animal to lead and carry her around the island. Mimzu ends to carry all of her belongings with her at all times on herself and her crab mount. These mostly consist of trinkets and found items on the bottom of the sea from old bottles to antique keys that dangle from the ropework.

They also have a small allowance and dorm room provided by the school while arrangements for a more permanent residence is still being worked out.

Has a pair large plastic sunglasses they found in the ocean that somewhat helps with seeing while the sun is out.

Additional Information:

Has a very poor grasp on the English language without her charm but is working on learning the language.

Her giant service crab companion is named “Sebastian” based purely on a suggestion a stranger told her.

Mimzu is nickname as their full name is incomprehensible to most beings due her language relying on echolocation. Her full name roughly translate to "Flickering ghost"
