Evie stifled the last of her giggles as Angelo approached, blinking twice at him. She didn't think Angelo was going to like what she did or anything like that, but he did seem a little more upset than she was expecting.

"Well it was either that or the itching powder, and that one seemed a little more disruptive than it needed to be." She said, jokingly, shrugging her shoulders at him. "It's just a dumb joke Angie, chill out."

Nepotism tended to be seen in a very black and white manner. Nepotism was good for the person getting the position, and bad for everyone else. But the truth was far trickier. Nepotism, even in the best of situations, had a lot of misses.

Could Angelo have the job he had if his dad didn't own La Bussola? Probably. Would he have? Absolutely not. He was in the position he was in because his dad owned the restaurant. Because he'd been there as the restaurant was renovated. Because he'd sat with his dad as they worked on the menu. Because he'd tried all the food and given his advice.

He was currently the only employee working the front of house at a high class restaurant without supervision at seventeen because his dad owned the whole place, and there was no way around the fact that he'd developed a bit of a complex about it.

He had to prove he could do it.

"I'm trying to be professional here," Angelo said, a tone of exasperation in his voice. "It's not really a place for pranks like this."

Naturally, Evie wasn't aware or all that concerned about Angelo's need to prove himself. She was just trying to relieve her boredom. Wasn't her fault that he couldn't take a joke.

Then again, he did seem kinda stressed about it.

"Fiiiiiine. I guess I'll behave myself. You don't gotta worry about me." She said with a shrug, lounging back in her seat. "Plus I'll give an extra nice review for your professionalism if you keep talking to me."

She gave him a small conspiratorial wink before adding on,

"You can tell big daddy Angelo that you dealt with a nasty rude customer today, make him be all proud of you. See if it gets you a raise or something."

Big dadd- Oh. Did she think...? She totally thought, and that was enough at least make Angelo snort a small laugh.

"I don't live with the other Angelo anymore," Angelo said. "I live with my dad, actually. And I don't think a raise is in the works any time soon. I didn't even want to get paid while the restaurant got off the ground."

It only occurred to Angelo after the fact that they might have just said big daddy Angelo because they didn't remember his last name.

"Oh, right, different dad. Alien dimension shenanigans. I forgot about that."

She also, as a matter of fact, did forget his last name. No need to mention that though.

"God, you're not even getting paid? When you're charging this much for food? What is wrong with you Angie?" She shook her head in a gesture of mock disappointment. "Jeez, you're really a boyscout through and through, huh?"

It was a rhetorical question, knowing what she did about him she wasn't all that surprised to hear that.

"Aaaaanyway, as long as you're not really mad at me can I still have my food?"

"I am getting paid," Angelo corrected almost immediately. "I tried not to be, but by dad insisted and said something about 'labor code violations'. I think he just wanted me to have spending money, and was confident that my wage wasn't going to be the difference between La Bussola doing well or not."

He couldn't help but smile just the same, the previous seriousness largely gone as she called him a boyscout.

"If you insist, I suppose the boyscout will have to go get it," he said, vanishing off to the back to collect the food. He brought it all out at once, since it was a bit of a mixed meal, laying it out before her.

"Are you going to eat it and then talk when I come back to pick up the plates? Or are you going to try and eat mid-bite?"

"Ooh!" Evie's eyes lit up once the food was finally placed down in front of her. She didn't even wait for Angelo to finish speaking before she grabbed a slice of the Sardenara and took a bite out of it.

"Well, tha' depensh," She answered, her mouth full. "On whether ya trusht me enough to leave me alone."

She finally swalled the food, before humming to herself with a satisfied smile.

"Hmm, this is pretty good!"

Angelo was really not sure if he trusted her enough to leave her alone, but he supposed he couldn't spend her entire visit babysitting..

"Everything here is top quality," he said. Ingredients, cooking, authenticity... his dad had put a lot of work into things.

"I'll be back in a bit though. I need to check on all the other tables."

He shot her one last please behave look, and then scooted off to deal with everyone else.
