Hiatus
Eve noticed Jake when he talked to him while running. Saying something about his expression? Eve looked at him and was about to ask him what he meant but a branch came into his way and Eve had to dodge it. Then he was too fascinated watching Jake get on all fours, like a wolf. Eve wanted to sketch that sight so badly he was already reaching for his sketchbook. But while doing so he didn't notice a root on the ground and Eve noticed it only when he had already tripped. Eve's speed was so great he did a flip before landing on his back, on some rocks. It hurt, of course, but Eve's body was tough so he knew he couldn't have been injured that badly.
"Ouch..."
Eve said quietly and sat up, rubbing his head. He estimated that if he had been a human his skull probably be fractured. But with him it was just a slight concussion. Or at least he thought so.

Jake heard it before realising what had happened. He stopped himself, skidding on all fours as he turned to the side. His fingers and toes dug deep into the soil as he came to a gradual stop. Without a seconds pause, he got back up onto two feet and sped over to where Eve was sat on the ground, his hand rubbing his head.

"Eve! Are you alright?" He had flipped a fair distance. Jake looked and sniffed for any signs of blood. Having no medical training, he had no clue what to do in that sort of situation. "How many fingers am I holding up?" he asked with three digits outstretched. Eve didn't seem to be in bad health. "Looks like you're thicked skulled too." He tried to joke about the matter. Joking often made situations better, Jake found. "I don't have any fancy cold fire but I can run and get something if you like?"

Hiatus
Eve looked up as Jake came over and started fussing. Well, it was to be expected. Eve must have flown pretty handsomely. Eve tried to smile at him to calm him but it ended up as a slight grimace when a jab of pain resonated from the back of his head. Oh well, it would go away after a while.
"Three. Three fingers. I'm fine."
Eve said and lowered his hands onto his lap, still sitting on the ground. He figured he should sit for a while.
"Yes, I'm thick-skulled, though only literally."
Eve chuckled a bit and then looked at Jake apologetically.
"You don't need to run anywhere, I just need to sit for a minute. I'm sorry to ruin the run like this."
Eve created a small flame, as cold as he could create it, which was as cold as ice. He ordered it to cool down the most aching spot on his head and it quickly moved to do just that.
"I got a bit too, how to say it, inspired, your running form was beautiful. Artistically speaking, of course."
Eve quickly added, not wanting to cause a misunderstanding.
"Forgive me if my words are confusing sometimes. Even the first time we met, I said your movements were nice."
Just the thought made Eve a bit embarrassed.
"I mean strictly artistically. Even if I'm g- "
Eve stopped himself before finishing that sentence. This might not be the best time to mention his sexuality.
"Anyway, you can go on without me. I'd hate to deny you of your run."

"Don't be stupid, I fell first. You haven't ruined anything," Jake reassured. He watched the dancing flame as it sauntered up to Eve's head. It was truly beautiful. It spluttered and swayed as the gentle breeze slithered through its flaming tendrils. Again, the compliments came his way, making him uneasy. Not knowing how to respond, he just smiled and look to the side.

What was he going to say? Before Eve managed to spit out the remainder of his sentence, the subject was changed. "What, and miss you fall flat on your face again? I wouldn't miss that." Again with the humour. It helped him worm his way out of the awkwardness. In fact, jokes went hand in hand with a smile when hiding many things.

"So, do you think we should give up on the running before one of us breaks their necks?" What was supposed to be a leisurely jog turned into a morning with many obstacles. Jake arose from his crouch to stretch his legs before he got a cramp. His hand reached down to Eve to aid him in getting up. "It's up to you, I have no plans what so ever."

Eve could feel how the pain in his head gradually toned down. Eve ordered the flame to disappear and it did it within seconds, returning to be a part of Eve's soul.
Eve noticed that his words made Jake uncomfortable, and he worried if he had realized what Eve had been about to say. It was unlikely but if Jake didn't feel comfortable around homosexual people then Eve wouldn't know what to do.

But then Jake joked around, making Eve crack a small smile, and Eve wondered if he had guessed wrong. Maybe his sexuality was still a secret. Though Eve didn't keep it a particular secret. If someone asked he answered.
"That fall was rare, I doubt you'll see another one. Or more like I won't let you see it."
Eve joked back but something inside of him itched. Something about Jake. He didn't know what it was.

Eve took Jake's hand and admitted that he had a point. This run had turned out to be pretty risky. But if Jake was free..
Eve suddenly became anxious when he thought of asking what he wanted to ask. He rubbed his neck and his gaze darted around a bit.
"Um, it's a little hard to ask this, but..."
Eve looked at Jake, it would be rude to ask this without looking at him.
"Would you maybe let me sketch you? It'll be quick, I promise."

Jake returned the smile as he lifted Eve from the ground. It had been really great to get his mind off of things and he enjoyed Eve's company. Though the smile faded and was replaced with a hint of shock. "You... you want to draw me?" It went without saying that Jake was quite self-conscious and the idea that someone would be staring at him and copying his features down onto a page unnerved him.

One question circled his head: Why? Why would anyone want to draw him? He ground his teeth together before answering. "Erm... sure." Though, he didn't seem entirely convinced. How bad could it be? "You ain't getting me to pose naked or anything." Yet again, the humour masked his embarrassment.

"Do you want me to just stand here or... I dunno, do something?" It was safe to say that this was the first time anyone had drawn him. At least, drawn him whilst he was in front of the person and knowingly being sketched.

As Eve had expected, Jake didn't take the request that well. He looked a bit shocked, in fact, and Eve wanted to take his request back. But soon after Jake agreed anyway, and that in turn surprised Eve. He smiled a bit and shook his head at the joke Jake said behind the agreement.
"I don't do nudes, except in class. And they have professionals for that."

Eve pulled out his sketchbook and pen, and again shook his head slightly.
"You don't need to do anything special. Stand, jog in place, do push-ups or whatever you want. I have a sharp eye, I can sketch you nevertheless."
Eve started sketching almost immediately after saying this, his pen flying on the paper. He wanted to make this as comfortable for Jake as possible, and avoided looking at him for long periods.
"By the way, before I fell 'flat on my face' or however you said it, what did you mean? When you said I'm not expressionless?"
Eve asked this as he sketched, concentrating on the picture forming. It was going to be good.
