Adelina looked at him as he studied her, not really feeling comfortable with that. She didn't show it, though, and remained silent, eyes narrowing a bit. She raised an eyebrow when he asked her old she was. "I honestly don't know why you care... but I'm fifteen, turning sixteen at the end of the month," she said. She didn't bother to ask how old he was, since she didn't care.

Andrew could only guess that she didn't care at all how old he was. But he didn't really care that she didn't care. "Cool. I'm turning seventeen on November 17th." he said. "How old is your sister?" He was only half curious, but it was worth knowing to keep the conversation alive.

Adelina rolled her eyes when he told her how old he was going to be. She really, honestly didn't care, and she didn't know why he had told her. "Yeah, whatever," she said with a sigh. "And my sister is twelve, turning thirteen in a few months." An eyebrow raised again somewhat, not really knowing why he had asked her how old her sister was. It was probably only for conversation, but it still confused her a bit. "Yours is turning seventeen as well, obviously."

"Obviously." Andrew replied with a grin. He thought for a moment, he was completely out of ideas to keept the conversation going, but he wasn't willing to give up. "Your parents still alive?" He asked. Dang. That was brilliant. Could you get much stupider? He kicked himself inwardly, wishing he could take his words back, but it was too late.

[sorry, I couldn't really think of anything else to put.]

"Your parents still alive?"

And those were the words that set this young woman off. Her eyes immediately filled with anger and narrowed; now THIS was something he had absolutely no right to know, or even ask. She could feel a very, very thin, and barely noticeable layer of ice begin to cover her fingernails — something that happened sometimes when she got angry — but forced this not to happen.

"You... have NO Right... to ask that..." she growled in a threatening, dangerous tone of voice. She took the death of her parents seriously, and it was a painful thing to be discussed. But, instead of becoming sad at its mention, she got mad instead. She knew that saying this to him would probably understand that they were dead, but she hadn't said it directly, and therefore, she wouldn't blame herself for him finding out.

"I know, Andrew said tensely, "And I'm really sorry. I should have thought before I spoke." He figured that she wouldn't forgive him, but he was truly sorry. His parents were dead too, after all, and he'd get angry if someone asked him about it.

Adelina looked away from him, silent for quite a while. I wish mom and dad had lived... she thought to herself. Then I wouldn't have to put up with idiots like this guy, and I could be at home. She sighed, trying to think of what she should say to him, or if she should even say anything at all. She wanted to stay silent, but she knew that he wouldn't leave even if he did. But even so, what was she supposed to say? What he had just asked was something that wasn't exactly forgiveable... well, not yet at least. He had no business asking her that; besides, what kind of a question is 'are your parents alive?'?

She was supposing that she was going to have to force herself to be nice to him. Being mean wasn't working, obviously, and he would probably stay here as long as he wanted to and keep on rambling if she was silent. She sighed and and rubbed her forehead for a moment before sitting down on the cold roof, and pulling her knees up to her chest.

"Whatever..." she said softly, forcing a more calm face and expression to come to her face. "I guess if you're really sorry, then..." She didn't finish, since in her mind, he really wasn't forgiven. The young woman just looked at him, as if to tell him to sit down as well.

Andrew sat down next to her. "Again, I'm really sorry." He over emphasized the word really. He paused for a minute and stared straight ahead. He didn't really want to, but....
He sighed. "Do you want me to leave?", he asked quietly.

Adelina nodded when he apologized again. She still hadn't accepted it, but she decided it was best not to drag the whole thing on and on. She bit the inside of her lip in thought when he asked her if she wanted him to leave. She did, but... she shook her head. "No, it's ok," she said in a soft tone of voice again. "You don't have to leave if you don't want to."

Andrew was genuinly shocked. He smiled with relief though. He turned his head to look at her. "Really? You sure?" He asked. Don't push it...

He turned his head and stared straight ahead again, waiting for her to tell him to go away.
