Every place has rumors, and Manta Carlos is no different. This thread exists to help people get a feel for what kind of gossip their characters would be hearing. If something's going on in-character, and you think other characters would know about it, be sure to post here and let others know!

Rumor: Aedes has been absent from school since early December and rumor has it that she was sent to Juvie Island for blackmailing a student. Who that might no one knows for sure but people are talking about it.

Who's Hearing It?: Anyone attending Starlight Academy and those whom are familiar with Aedes

Rumor: There's a new drug hitting the streets of Manta Carlos. It takes the form of a dark red crystalline powder and goes by a number of names: Fall and Devil Dust, among others. The police have gotten small amounts off of some arrests, but so far haven't made comments about further investigation. Rumor has it that the stuff is made from demon blood.

Who's Hearing It?: The police, definitely, as well as some of the less scrupulous members of the Manta Carlos community.

Rumor:
1) There may or may not be a ghost haunting the halls of the academy dorms at night. People are seeing shadows that seem to move, and a feeling that someone is watching you can be felt by some dorm students as they pass the halls on occasion.

2) Some trashy tabloids have been circulating that the relationship between Yuki Hayashi, brother to the heir apparent of GeneCorp, and his family has completely broken down. Reports state that he and his family are no longer on speaking terms, and that he's even plotting a coup to take over the family business.

Who's Hearing It?:
1) Students of the academy would hear about the ghost, especially those who have rooms near a certain red-haired actor...

2) Anyone who reads rumour magazines and tabloids would see this story mentioned on the front page, but not necessarily as the main story. Yuki's friends and acquaintances may or may not have had copies of the tabloid posted to their front door by a mysterious source...

Rumor: The Dark Crystal Academy ruins may now be accessible due to security recently becoming lax.

Who's Hearing It?: Mostly students, and those around the school. Especially those who have strong connections to DCA

Rumor: Aedes has been seen back at school. It seems that her time at the Isles have changed her. Less snarky and more reserved, maybe seeming a bit lost at times. Most see this as welcome change as the tiny terror seems to have calmed her temper considerably and is trying to become a better person... or at the very least knows to watch her words more closely for now on.

Rumor: Jae Yi-Lin either got into a fight, or he's hiding something. He came into school March 11 with a nasty looking black eye and more bruising was seen under his hair. Jae himself was heard saying the injuries were an accident and has said nothing further on the matter.

Rumor: While Orsick Drakenhardt talks about wanting to help new students, when it comes time for him to actually help a new student in trouble he won't do anything.

Rumor: New student Ida, a small red imp, got detention on her first day of school. She supposedly kicked over the recycling bin in a classroom and then tried to frame it on another kid. She also put a very rude note into another student’s locker, and again tried to frame somebody else for it. Another one claims that she dumped her food tray on another student, but this time she apologized. Unfortunately, the student was a fae and she was supposedly doing it over and over on purpose just to bug them. And one last rumour says she stole a teacher’s glasses and attempted to burn an ant kid with them. It’s unclear which of these actions landed her in detention.

Rumor: This past weekend, a sudden influx of supernaturals have appeared on Manta Carlos. Instead of coming through one of the typical portals, they have been seen exiting and entering a vacant house near the city. One of the most interesting of these residents is Xiraev, a prominent incubus-vampire philanthropist in the supernatural community who houses the supernatural in New York City. In the Narrow Reality, he goes by the name Xavier Fisher and works as an investment banker.

Who's Hearing It?: Anyone can hear, but people at the school will hear the most as these new citizens become situated on the island. Scouts and Veil agents would be knowledgeable about his situation. He connected his house in New York City to a vacant house with the help of witches and Veil agents.
