Headline: Enchanted Colony Tree Appears In The Woods

Story:
On the morning of April 23rd a skyscraper tree appeared on a clearing in the forest. The tree had unexpected effects to the area surrounding it, such as making the plants near the tree healthier and brighter in color. A colony of refugees was discovered within the tree, all of them different species with the connecting factor of reptilian biology.

The island officials have made contact with the refugees and Manta Carlos government has begun integrating them to society. The tree is beginning to open up as well, selling unique fruits and vegetables to visitors, and the children of the residents are joining Starlight Academy.

Headline: Solstice Reopens after Three Day Maintenance Closure

Story: The grand reopening of the ever-popular space station amusement park Solstice has crowds buzzing after a three day closure due to an unexpected maintenance closure. The park had a sudden full close after one of the artificial gravity wells located in the park malfunctioned, leaving parkgoers and employees alike caught in a zero gravity environment. The incident was believed to have been caused by a faulty generator sequencer, but no official answer has been given at this time from the park at time of this report. Octavia Note, a representative of the park, had this to say in regard to the closure.

"We care about the safety of our guests and employees here at Solstice. After the unfortunate incident, we strove to make sure that we would have no future incidents. Our team, in cooperation with the space station's engineering specialists, proceeded to not only repair the malfunctioning unit but also assessed the other units within the park to ensure the incident would not repeat. The mice overseers look forward to everyone's return for a fun celebration!"

Headline: "Bag-o-Holding" Seller Caught for Identity Theft

Story: Five months ago a self-starting entreprenuer named Ivan Alaska released a product he called the "Bag-o-Holding" on his online store which sold approximately 500 units. The bag, based on the Dungeons and Dragons item of similar name, was a simple pouch linked to a personal pocket dimension, or so it said on the product page. However, a formal investigation after a number of reports stating missing items revealed that the bags all linked to the same pocket dimension, with the items inside tagged by the individual bags to avoid mixing.

However, Ivan had full access to the inventory and 3 months after his product released, he was faced with financial troubles and stole an undisclosed number of IDs and credit cards before fleeing to Sweden under the alias Jake Orlando. However, investigators finally apprehended Ivan in his hotel room on May 1st. He surrendered without resisting. Ivan is currently awaiting trial.

Headline: New Perfume to Keep Pest Away!

Story: Finding yourself assailed by buzzing insects as we are heading into the summer but hate covering yourself with oily and stinky insect repellent? This season you are in luck thanks new line of perfume created by a group of chemistry graduates from Starlight Academy. Banding together, they created a new company called Fragrant Aromatic Solutions and are looking to bring a revolutionary line of repellent that leaves behind no oily residue, smells pleasant, and can be enjoy by everyone of Manta Carlos diverse residents! “The thing about most conventional insect repellents is that not only are they unpleasant, they are also quite harsh on the noses for the more sensitive senses of smell. So, me and a couple of my colleges banded together to tackle this issue to create a new kind of repellent that would work as pleasant perfume! It has taken us longer than expected but we wanted to make sure we did this right so that everyone can enjoy being bug free and smelling nice without doing harm to those around us” answered Abaeze Bello, one of the researchers whom work on creating the insect repelling perfume.

“It’s not so easy to just synthesize a fragrance into any sort of repellent that everyone can enjoy. We had issues along the way such as using Greek catnip oil for one of our earlier experimental perfumes that worked well but proved to have had… unforeseen consequences on the more feline members of our staff.” recalled Alexandra Cortez, another researcher whom worked with Fragrant Aromatic Solutions. So far, the perfumes come in fragrances of traditional repellents such as lavender, lemon eucalyptus, and citronella but they hope to introduce more fragrances such as strawberry and coco butter down the line. While these perfumes won’t be on shelves till the end of the month, they company is accepting pre-orders online for eager customers to be sent to their homes once the first bottles are ready.

Headline: MCPD seeks assistance from public in missing persons case
Story: The Manta Carlos Police Department is currently investigating the disappearance of Carmin Bennet, an 11th grader at Starlight Academy. Bennet was last seen on Sunday, May 10th leaving the community center, and has been out of contact since then. While the MCPD originally found no signs of foul play, recent discoveries have raised alarm, and increased the amount of police attention on the case.

Anyone who has information on Bennet's disappearance is encouraged to contact the MCPD.
