Tiffany Fairchild couldn't remember a time in her life where she'd been as nervous as she was just then. Her mind felt both blank and full at the same time, all her thoughts buzzing around one person--Isaac Montgomery. She made her way down the hall on unsteady legs, and she hoped that when Isaac answered the door he wouldn't be able to hear her heartbeat trying to hammer its way out of her body.

She glanced down at the phone in her hands--she'd sent him a text that she was coming over, that she had something important she wanted to ask him. He knew she was coming. Her eyes glew gold, and when they faded back to blue she was standing in front of his door with her fist raised.

Tiffany gently knocked three times upon Isaac Montgomery's door, and she slid her phone into her pocket and waited.

Things had finally started looking up for Isaac lately. He'd been spending most of his time with Tiffany - while she wasn't asleep, of course. Being nocturnal had its downsides when one was trying to court a human. She never seemed to mind it, though, and he was grateful for that.

She'd woken him up with her text that she was coming over. Isaac sighed and rolled out of bed, stumbling off to the shower so that he could at least be presentable before she showed up.

He hadn't quite expected her to be there so soon. He'd only had time to put pants on, leaving him shirtless when he went to open the door and let her in. He was still rubbing his hair dry with a towel. "Hey, what's up?" he offered, still kind of sleepy. His eyes were a dull red; he hadn't had time to feed yet.

[Emotions: attracted, nervous af, determined]

Well, Tiffany wasn't sure what she'd been expecting, but it sure wasn't for the door to open to a shirtless Isaac. Her eyebrows shot up, her cheeks immediately filled with color, and her heart started beating that much harder; it was making her feel a bit dizzy. For a moment her eyes were helplessly glued to his body.

"U-um," she started, tearing her gaze away to step inside. She reached to feel her hot face. It took her another moment to find her breath, though she had walked to get there. "I got here a little early, didn't I?"

Tiffany cleared her throat and took a leap, getting straight to the point. She turned back to look at him, though her eyes were firmly on his. "Isaac, will you go out with me?"

"A little," he replied with a smirk and went to pull on a grey t-shirt from his closet, hanging up his towel on a nearby hook. He mussed with his hair a little, getting it to fall the way he wanted.

Tiffany's sudden question caught him off-guard and he paused, turning to look at her.

Go...out with her?

He wasn't sure how to respond at first. Should he just play this off casually? He was worried that might insult her or something, he didn't want to treat this like it didn't mean anything to him, because it meant a lot. A whole lot. His red eyes were trained on hers and if he had a working heart, it probably would have skipped a few beats by now.

"Of course I will," he said carefully after several moments of stunned silence.

[Emotions: ecstatic, jubilant, crushing]

He said yes!

Tiffany's serious expression melted and softened, and she could feel her heart flutter. She was on Isaac in a flash with her arms thrown around his neck to hug him tightly. Her big bright smile was already starting to make her cheeks hurt.

"I'm so happy!" she laughed gleefully, pulling back just enough to get a good look at him. "I'll take good care of you, okay? It's my duty as your girlfriend!"

Speaking of taking care of him, Tiffany couldn't help but notice the red color of his eyes from this close. She tilted her head, the sweet smile still there. "Are you hungry? You can go ahead and feed from me if you want."

Isaac braced himself as Tiffany more or less lunged at him, catching her gently with his hands at her waist. Her familiar scent wrapped around him and he relaxed a little, comforted by her closeness. He chuckled softly when she promised to take care of him. He was used to taking care of himself...mostly, though thus far he hadn't been doing such a good job. He'd try not to be too much of a burden.

He blinked at her as she offered to feed him and tilted his head. It was a tempting offer. He considered for a long moment and then shook his head, "I just restocked, I should use what I already have." As much as he preferred how she tasted, he didn't want to put her out of sorts right now.

Letting her go, he crossed to his mini-fridge and pulled a thermos from it, popping it in the nearby microwave. "So...what brought all this on?" he asked, tilting his head at her.

Tiffany pouted a little when he turned down her offer, but she wasn't going to push him if he didn't want to. Giving him one last squeeze, she let him go to get himself some food, watching him all the while with a goofy grin on her face. She linked her fingers together and went to pop herself down on his bed.

"Well, I like you," she answered simply at first with a rosy blush. "Plus...I realized it was kind of dumb that, here I was, treating you like a boyfriend and liking you a whole bunch and we weren't even official official. I was kind of afraid you'd get tired, and that some other girl would swoop in and catch your attention..!"

Tiffany glanced down and away, playing with a lock of her hair. After a moment in which her eyes briefly glew gold, she looked back to Isaac. "I know I said I wanted to wait and get to know you more, but...I didn't want you to think it wasn't worth it, or that I was just toying with you or something, you know? I care about you a lot more than that, and you don't deserve to be left in the dust wondering if I really actually like you."

It was funny to Isaac to imagine that Tiffany thought he was so desirable that she might have competition. It wasn't like he had many other people in his life that were important to him. If he were being honest, the only significant person in his life right now was Tiffany.

He looked over at her while he waited by the microwave as it hummed away. "Because, as you know, I have tons of other girls lined up just waiting for me," he told her, obviously being sarcastic about it.

His smirk fell away and he became serious now, "I never thought for a minute that you were just pulling me around by my nose. That's just not like you." The microwave shut off - he'd disabled the tones on it because they were too shrill for his sensitive hearing. He fetched the thermos and sipped at it while he spoke, deep in thought.

"When we first met, I didn't expect you...or anyone for that matter, to end up becoming someone so precious to me. You're sort of the only person around here who's bothered to spend time with me. I consider myself lucky in that way."

He paused. Sipped. Tilted his head in consideration.

"I would have continued to stay by your side even if my feelings for you weren't returned. You've never abandoned me, the least I can do is stick around."

He fell silent, eyeing her from his spot by the microwave.

Isaac's sarcasm made Tiffany blush and glance away a bit bashfully. "Well, it's just...it's hard to imagine that at least some other girls wouldn't see you the same way I do," she said quietly, pulling her ponytail over her shoulder. "Besides, I didn't want to take any chances. I didn't want to regret not asking you for the rest of my life--well, maybe not the rest of my life. You can never rule out Alzheimers!"

Tiffany looked back to him and let the mirthful grin slip too. Her eyes softened as he spoke, her index finger slowly, idly twirling the end of her ponytail.

"I didn't want to leave you alone when I first met you. Everyone deserves at least one friend, and you kinda seemed like you needed one. Of course, y'know, I still prepared myself for total rejection at hands of bad boy, but that didn't happen, so I'm happy!"

She let her hair go and set her hands back on the sheets. "I'm glad you wanted--or want to stay in my life, Isaac," she said softly. "It shows me you actually care and that you're not in it for like, the sex or popularity or whatever."

After a moment of gazing at him, her eyes widened a little and she quickly added, "Not that I thought you were that kind of person! I know you're not like that. And I guess I know you're not the type to go around getting a bunch of new girlfriends; I was just afraid I'd lose my chance. As lame as that sounds," she laughed a little, though her eyes and tone were serious.

She tipped her head towards the thermos in his hand. "Is it good?"

The rest of her life, huh...

It wasn't like he hadn't thought about it before, but he tried not to. Tiffany was human. That made her mortal. She was going to grow older as time went on, while he just stayed the same, frozen in time like the rest of his kind. It wasn't a pleasant thought. He may have led a somewhat normal lifespan until now, but what was going to happen ten, twenty, fifty years from now? His master had been very old - so old that he used to say that time would fly by for him. A hundred years had seemed like the blink of an eye. Was that what it was going to be like for Isaac?

He resolved that for now, he was just going to enjoy the time he had with Tiffany and leave those other thoughts for later. He shook the subject from his mind and focused on the conversation at hand instead.

It was amusing to him, the idea that he would be involved in anything for popularity or sex, neither of which were terribly interesting to him. He didn't feel the need to surround himself with people, and sex was just...well, in his past experiences it had been meaningless, more for their desires than his own. Blood was the only thing he'd ever had a craving for ever since he'd entered this immortal life. Sure, he'd had whims and such, but never desperate needs.

He decided to keep all of this to himself for fear that Tiffany might misinterpret it.

Isaac looked down at his thermos and shrugged, "I wouldn't say it's necessarily good; it's kind of like drinking a flat, diet soda. It does the job when you're thirsty, but it's not nearly as satisfying. You get used to it after a while, I suppose."

He wandered over to the window and pulled the heavy black curtain aside. There were still subtle hints of a sunset, but it was mostly dark by now, and the stars were starting to come out. It was still pretty early for him to be awake, but better to be up now and have time to spend with Tiffany before she got too tired.

Dropping the curtain back into place, he turned to her. "Is there anything in particular that you'd like to do this evening?" He wasn't great at coming up with activities...he supposed that was rather one of Tiffany's strengths.
