Name: Wilhelmina Winterborn
Goes By: Willa, Mina, “Prancer”
Age: 15
Birthday: December 8th
Zodiac: Sagittarius
Gender: Female
Species: Porcupine Caribou/Reindeer Shifter
Sexuality: Heteroflexible
Religion: Animatism
Category: Student
Grade: Sophomore (With Specialized Classes)

Appearance:

  • Thin frame; small breasts; tight waist; pear-shaped body (hips still filling out); tight and toned; very petite overall; fragile and delicate
  • Baby bump is showing - not much, but a little is inevitable with her tiny build. It’s small but growing, poking out against her usually-flat stomach
  • Skin is a pale, dusty tan; naturally quite soft, but also a bit dry; easily bruises
  • Freckles along shoulders and base of neck, as well as cheek/bridge of nose
  • Heart-shaped face, lacking baby fat; soft but high cheekbones; gently rounded chin; small, refined nose
  • Large eyes; heavy lashes; gold in the summer and blue in the winter
  • Plump, pink lips; wide, bright smile; happiness is infectious
  • Dark, slightly-reddish-brown hair; loose curls naturally; styled into a long pixie cut
  • Still has that glow of youth about her, despite the fact that her body is that of a young woman
  • Caribou ears set high on the sides of her head; small but fluffy tail; small set of antlers atop her head
  • Dresses breezily in the summer and snugly in the winter. Adores oversized sweaters, soft scarves, and faux-fur garments in chilly weather, as well as sundresses, skirts, and cut-off-shoulder crop-tops in the warmth. Style generally fits into the romantic category, with some casual chic influence. Likes accessories, especially big dangly things, belts, scarves, and hair pieces.
  • Favored colors change with the season, but she enjoys bright themes (cyan, peach, pink, white, etc) and the autumn color scheme (reds, oranges, browns, etc) the most. Her favorite weather is sweater weather, just as the leaves are turning, and early spring, when snow melts and leaves begin to bud. Shows in her clothing choices.

Personality:

  • Energetic, lively, bright and high-spirited
  • Generally confident, but can be over-confident at times
  • Good-natured, for the most part. Prone to moral choices and helping others rather than cheating them
  • Not a very good liar and is more apt towards the truth
  • Though she may sugarcoat due to her personality, will always say what’s on her mind. Don’t expect a filter, just a thin buffer or two.
  • One thing you can count on Willa for is honesty
  • Truth, morality and justice matters to Willa. She wants things to work out in the end for everyone, and dislikes the phrase “life isn’t fair”
  • She knows life isn’t fair - she’s lost a baby, and before she was much older than a baby herself - but she is very against people getting away with murder, for lact of a better term, with no retribution whatsoever
  • This can get Willa into trouble at times as she takes matters into her own hands if justice is not found
  • Can usually keep a secret and doesn’t mind sharing her own if she trusts the person she’s telling
  • If the secret she’s keeping is big, though, Willa may have to let it slip to her closest friend — but only if she knows the friend won’t tell!
  • Really does want to make the world a better place, but it isn’t her life’s ambition
  • Goal in life is actually to travel. She wants to see the world and to experience as much of it as she can. Wanderlust is ingrained into her bones, as is a love for adventure
  • Enjoys freedom
  • Very determined when she sets her mind to something
  • Needs constant change and excitement to be comfortable
  • Hates monotony and craves adventure, becomes very restless and unfocused if her needs here are not met
  • Can has a bit of an attitude at times if being restrained
  • Isn’t comfortable with clingy people and feels suffocated when people try to hold her back
  • On the bright side, it means she isn’t easily jealous
  • Enjoys feeling wonder and never wants it to fade
  • Very imaginative and creative, loves to spawn ideas and share them with those around her
  • Runs on emotions more than logic, meaning she generally trusts her gut and is impulsive, rather than crafting a plan
  • She crafts plans sometimes, though, but only for the big things — for the projects she’s exerting major effort into, and even then, the steps of her plans are usually emotionally-influenced anyway
  • Optimistic and almost always can find a bright side in something, or at least a poetic justice
  • Generally very positive
  • Good listener, nodding more than she offers advice unless advice is asked for
  • Tries to offer a warm presence when someone is in pain, as she hates to see people hurt or cry
  • Loves gifts, and loves giving gifts
  • Has a big, open heart with mercy for all parties, and is good at seeing both sides of a conflict
  • That doesn’t mean she trusts everyone. Willa is surprisingly less naive than people usually assume, and though she has her idealistic attributes, she knows when not to trust someone
  • Carefree and positive, rarely worries. Believes in the idea that “whatever is meant to be, is meant to be, and that’s what’ll happen in the end”
  • Doesn’t mean she has to like what’s happening - she just believes it’ll work out in the long run
  • Still, though she’s far from a worrier, Willa is nervous about her pregnancy, and this is more than understandable
  • She’s already lost one child, and she doesn’t want to lose another
  • Will do anything in her power to protect any of her precious people, especially her unborn baby, even if it means giving her life
  • Already loves this baby fiercely, and wouldn’t give them up for the world
  • Is actually stupendously excited to be a mother and desperately hopes this baby survives
  • Is terrified, however, when she actually sits down to think about it, that she will miscarry again
  • Is also terrified that she won’t be a good mother, as she’s so young, still learning and growing herself, but she wants to try. She’s going to try her damndest for this baby. She is.

Powers:

Well, everyone knows about Santa’s reindeer, right? Though Willa has no connection whatsoever to Santa Claus, Wilhelmina and her herd have never really stopped to question why they can fly. They just… can, from the time they can walk onwards, just as easily as Rudolf and all his brethren.

Once again, Willa has literally no special connection to Christmas, but that doesn’t stop her from possessing the Christmas Spirit. Inexplicably, Willa always, always knows what to get someone for a gift, whether it be a candy on halloween, flowers on Valentine’s Day, or stocking stuffers on Christmas. Furthermore, Willa also has no need for shopping, as she can literally spawn these perfect gifts out of thin air. The catches are the following:

1) Any object Willa spawns has to be the perfect gift of someone around her, even if it's a stranger she just met;

2) She has to be aiming to give this gift away, and if she doesn’t do so, it will despawn with the passing of the holiday, birthday, or other occasion (24 hours if a spur-of-the-moment urge);

3) The objects cannot be game-breaking or overpowered, meaning no laser guns to blow up the moon, no whale spears, and no one-drop-KO poisons in a vial, etc.

Gifts are spawned complete with ideal wrapping.

Species Traits:

Shifting:
Wilhelmina, along with the rest of her race, possess two forms - caribou and human. Their caribou forms are proportionate to their maturity in human years and possess no special attributes. They are Grant’s Caribou, or Porcupine Caribou, and are generally found in Alaska. However, human forms are a bit different, retaining tails, caribou ears, and antlers (if in season). Fur/skin color schemes pertain to those of natural coat colors, as to eyes.

Herbivore:
As a caribou shifter, Willa is unable to digest meat and other animal products. She must pertain to a strictly vegan diet, which, honestly, is perfectly alright with her. Wilhelmina can digest eggs, cheese and dairies in very small quantities, but anything more than a trace or two and bad things will happen. Willa enjoys her diet anyhow and doesn’t wish to stray from it.

Cold Resistance:
Growing up in Alaska will give anyone thick skin. Being a caribou shifter will cement it. Though Wilhelmina can still get cold, she won’t contract hypothermia from exposure to snow. It’s extremely hard for Willa to be affected by cold weather in her caribou form, though she’s far more sensitive in her human due to a lack of fur and excess body fat. Still, even naked in a snow storm, Willa would last quite a bit longer than any average human.

Changing Eyes:
Uniquely within caribou, Wilhelmina’s eyes change with the season. They are gold in the summer and blue in the winter, the color change an evolutionary adaptation to the dramatic lighting shifts in her native habitat.

Night Vision:
Much like cats and other animals, a caribou is able to see in the dark. There must be light for Willa’s eyes to reflect, of course, but she can see considerably better than an ordinary human.

Smell and Hearing:
As per her species, Wilhelmina’s senses - smell and hearing, that is - are equal to that of a caribou’s.

Snow Treading:
Caribou are known for their ability to easily tread large snow drifts. Willa is no exception to this, and she maintains her balance in the snow even shifted into her human form.

Migrating Instinct:
Caribou are migratory creatures by nature, and Wilhelmina is no different. Though she isn’t constricted by her need to wander, this instinct does give her an insatiable thirst for adventure. During migratory seasons, Wilhelmina needs to move and explore the islands, create little quests, and generally just curb her urges. If she isn’t able to explore, Willa grows quite restless and miserably, unable to focus on anything but exploring the outdoors.

Strength and Endurance:
Caribou traditionally are strong enough to pull sleighs and possess the stamina to match. Even in her human form, Wilhelmina possesses these attributes, though they remain proportionate to her size.

Birth and Infancy:
Pregnancy lasts only seven months in comparison to the usual nine. When a caribou shifter of Wilhelmina’s race is born, they are born in their human form from a human-shifted mother (this is mandatory, and the shift will be forced upon labor). However, they open their eyes within minutes and develop rather quickly, able to walk within 2-5 months of being born. Speech also comes quickly, as does association and intelligence. By the time children are five, their mental and physical development levels out to a normal human’s, but their quick growth during infancy is vital to survival. Also, it should be noted that there is no set breeding season for Wilhelmina’s caribou herd. Though the largest number of births occur in March - May, around the time of the usual breeding season, there are births sprinkled all throughout the year. Springborn, Summerborn, Autumnborn and Winterborn are given to calves as a means of tradition based upon their birth seasons.

History:
  • Born into a herd of Porcupine Caribou shifters in the Alaskan wilderness. Their status as shifters was widely unknown, and despite knowing/being educated of modern society, as well as the english language and such, they prefered to live in the wilderness apart from things. No taxes, jobs, and property laws that way. The herd moved in their caribou forms and only switched when entering a town was necessary, small groups arriving and pledging themselves as gypsies. They also generally gave themselves names in both caribou language and in english, as it was easiest to function that way.
  • Spent much of their lives migrating throughout the land, evading predators and scavenging for food. Close relationships with nature. Camps were set up and transported via wagons (pulled by their caribou forms, of course) in secret from society. In the wagons were collected food, blankets, shelters, collected textbooks, etc, so that they were as educated and caught up to things as usual humans. Their only separations were their powers and way of life.
  • One aspect of their way of life that remained closely tied to caribou was their policy on offspring. When a girl reached her sexual maturity, she was considered old enough to bear children. Regardless of their views on the subject, they would be impregnated and expected to continue contributing to the herd. They figured that keeping the herd’s numbers stable - winter and predators were common killers - was more important than the individual’s views. Though it was scarring, members moved on, and so Wilhelmina was far from an exception.
  • Willa’s first pregnancy occurred when she was 13. She carried well for the first six months, but after a sudden seasonal epidemic struck the herd, her child was miscarried. She was allotted a year to recoup, as regardless of herd mentality, she was a wreck after losing the baby.
  • Later on, at age 15, Willa was impregnated again. However, due to her small size and young age, she was one day singled out by a wolf. It chased her far from the hood, and her only saving grace ended up being a tree. She climbed it and waited several days, feeding off the branches until the wolves finally abandoned their sitting. By the time she finally climbed down the tree, she had completely lost track of the herd. Willa then resorted to wandering.
  • After a time, she ended up discovering a town. While in the town, she met a scout from the Academy who offered to bring her to Manta Carlos. Having nowhere to go and figuring she could find her herd’s location more easily with their resourced, Willa accepted his offer.

Additional Information:

Wilhelmina is currently pregnant. As other creation, she’s around week 10. This will be updated as she progresses IC. Please message me for possible threads! I want Wilhelmina to have a lot of IC relationships before she finally has her baby. She’ll need support, whatever the outcome, as she’s not so old herself.
