<div align=center>The city was shrouded in darkness... Well of course it was, it was night time, but where shady traders peddled even darker goods, the darkness was all the more prevalent, here, the city was awash with tableaus that spoke of the cities seedy underbelly, here on the corner by a shop labelled in languages old and forgotten stood a Vampire, leaning in close to a female mage, attempting to seduce her away for a night that would end in him fulfilling his hungers, but unaware that she too sought him, for his blood, for his hair, or perhaps for a sought after fang that would lend strength to her spells.

There a human stood, entering a store that catered to the darkest of arts, Necromancy, shopping for bones, for dust and for spiritual essences for their own magics, there they sought the power they could gather to force the world to submit to their will, even if it took countless years more to hone their craft.

And there a mere human criminal raced from a shop of magic, his arms loaded down with artifacts he could never understand, he fled into the night to find buyers for his ill gotten gains, hoping that he would never be discovered by the angry store owner!

~

It was among those tableaus that the demoness found herself, crouched in the darkness of a secluded alleyway and crouched over the fallen body of a mortal man. His body was emaciated and drained, the Succubus' wings were spread wide behind her, fluttering as she reached for the mans neck, pressing two of her fingers to his carotid artery before lowering her lips to his.

Had the Succubus known what stood behind her, what studied her back as she crouched over the man perhaps she would have been afraid, or perhaps she would have continued whatever it was she was doing to the gentleman that lay dead beneath her tender mercies!

In the darkness she was a sight to behold, in her natural state the demoness was unrecognizable as one of the students of the Academy, her demonic wings were spread behind her, glowing a faint, eerie blue as she tended to the man beneath her, her skin was a soft, blemishless grey and long red hair that would have come to the back of her knees spread out behind her, lifting and twisting under some kind of dark power.

An ornate brassiere kept her petite chest from the prying eyes of those about her a pair of tightly fitting, matching shorts obscured her waist from the greedy eyes of mortals as well, but aside from those garments the Succubus left her flesh exposed, allowing all who wished to gaze upon her long and desire filled looks upon her toned body!

Flickers of that same blue light danced over her skin but here in the safety of a dead end alley, in the middle of the night surrounded by the seediest of people on the island, ironically the Succubus felt as safe here as anywhere else, but had she known, had she been aware that others might find her perhaps she would be a little more alert!

But she had hunted here before and she had not been caught yet! So what reason did she have to fear? What creature could find a demoness in the depths of the darkest parts of the island!</div>

The crime rate in Manta Carlos City was looking a lot like the frequency of teen pregnancy TV shows: inexplicably on the rise. The Manta Carlos police were assuming the sudden spike in criminal activity in parts of the city were also due to the same reason: magic. Well, magic and young people.

The official school year at the Academy was starting up again after the summer months and that meant that a lot of new young people with supernatural abilities were moving onto the island. The influx of new kids also brought their fair share of bad apples and evil vampires and the like. Thankfully, it seemed that most of the disturbances were centralized in the Underground district, where seediness and darkened alleys were a mainstay.

Lelei was being called in more frequently by the police with the rise in disturbances, and assigned the more dubious or dangerous cases in the Underground. The cases ran the gamut from magical burglaries to vampiric sexual harassment to illegal potion making with intent to distribute. Soon enough, however, Lelei found himself involved in less humorous cases as bodies were starting to show up.

Keeping with the theme, the first suspects were vampires, of any number of proclivities. Classic vampires were rules out, however, as the bodies lacked the signature puncture marks or lack of blood. New age "energy vampires" were suspected, but their victims were rarely ever killed, just left pale and tired and resembling a vegan. When reports starting coming in that a "magical hooker" was around the scenes before police arrived, people starting raising eyebrows, including Lelei.

He needed to patrol and stake out more often to catch this culprit.

Nights went by, but eventually he struck gold. After following a pair of suspicious people, a man and a woman, Lelei caught the culprit in the act! The reports were mostly correct too. The girl looked like a magical hooker demon, complete with short shorts and boobs spilling out of her top. Lelei was too late to save the man, but he could prevent further crimes.

He ran right up behind the deadly, sexy lady.

"Freeze! Put your hands where I can see them!"

Unlike many of his police associates, Lelei was no given any kind of gun or weapons. It was unfortunate, but he could handle himself with his body alone. Plus, his hands were way too big to hold any regulation firearms, and nobody really trusted a giant shark man with a gun anyway.

<div align=center>At the command to freeze the Succubus kept her head still bent low, her lips upon those of the man beneath her. As the powerful males feet slapped upon the ground behind her, running closer, she finally looked up though and immediately recoiled! As she collapsed back onto her hind quarters the shark man that had joined her would be surprised by something... Interesting!

A brilliant blue energy was lingering around her lips, but it wasn't flowing from the man to the succubus, it had been flowing the other direction! She hadn't been extracting something from the emaciated man, she had been infusing him with something!

"What... What in the hells? Who are you?"

The Succubus offered a small smile though, recovering her footing and rising before the dangerous looking creature, she did lift her hands however, but that small smile simply refused to fade away! The Succubus cocked her hips slightly as she looked to the man before her, whatever he was, whoever he was he seemed to be something of an authority figure!

"Well I suppose you want an explanation? Or are you just planning to slap me in irons hrrrm?"

She gave a light laugh at that, preparing to run if he made even a single hostile movement towards her, she was ready for him! Now that he had announced himself at least. The demoness was prepared to fight if she had to, but for the time being at least, she seemed willing to try and solve this with words, she seemed willing to talk with the powerful creature that had caught her seemingly in the act of killing a helpless citizen!

Her tongue flickered outwards, carrying traces of that luminous blue energy that Lelei had already seen, as she licked her lips traces of that energy was left behind, coating her lips as though it were a lipstick.

"And I suppose... I should go first shouldn't I? You can call me... Lily, I found this man in this state, but I could still feel warmth from his skin, I had hoped to revive him and learn what had done this to him, sadly he is too far gone, even my energy can't wake him"

But would he believe her after the way he had found her? Crouched over him like this, and then there were the eyewitness accounts of whatever he was tracking! Her outfit and her nature most certainly weren't doing her any favors!</div>

Where most police officers would have drawn their sidearm or held up their flashlight, Lelei simply stood intimidatingly close to the perp with his hand and arms out in a wrestling stance. His lack of any real, recognizable weapons often put him in a precarious position when facing a suspect who was armed, but that was a rare situation. Most of the time, the appearance of a giant shark man was enough to get a suspect to stand down, even when they did have a shiv.

"I'm with the Manta Carlos police! And you will stand down now!"

Lelei was no magic interpreter nor a sorcery aficionado. The only thing he knew was what he saw, and what he saw was what looked to be skimpy demon with her lips all up on that body' business. So many magical creatures used their mouths for various nefarious reasons that it was safe to say that this girl would not be any different, no matter what she was saying.

The girl was cocky, and it showed. Her cocked hips, her licked lips, and her devilish smile all spoke to a girl that thought she had it all in the bag. If she thought her feminine wiles would sway Lelei's judgement, she would be in for a surprise.

Lelei preferred boys.

"A likely story, missy. Now turn around, get on your knees, and put your hands behind your head! Then you can tell your story to the investigators when they show up."

<div align=center>The succubus clucked her tongue as the shark headed man seemed unaffected by her nature and little displays she had decided to put on, was he uninterested in women? Or did he just have no attraction for those outside of his own species, whatever the case the succubus was not impressed. She did not however immediately comply with his request, instead narrowing her eyes at him with a critical look.

"If that were true you would have flashed a badge, how do I know you're not the one responsible for this and planning to add another body to your collection?"

She did however move to her knees, keeping her hands in the air as she looked up to the impressive figure who had caught her in such a compromising position, she was beginning to look rather unimpessed however, especially as her hair was forced to arch itself up, moving, swaying about her so it did not drag on the ground as she, at least partially complied with Lelei's order.

"And if you were with the police you would want every part of the story, not just to arrest the first person you saw on the scene, so who are you really?"

From her questions from her tone the Succubus was trying to make it seem as though she were the one in charge, as though she were the one questioning him and not the other war around, she did still have one more potential ace up her sleeve... Not that she was earing any sleeves but that was kind of beside the point.

"Besides, had I wanted to harm someone you think I would have done it out here in the open? I am what I am, and what I am is more than capable of making a man spring for a hotel room at the very least, besides, if it had been me that killed him he would have a smile on his face"

Perhaps not the most solid defence the succubus had ever made, but she kept her eyes on Lelei, as long as he kept his distance, as long as he was willing to listen she would remain on her knees, but if he tried to close the distance between them the Succubus would launch herself backwards, pushing off the ground with her knees and beating her wings to carry her backwards until she could maintain their distance

"You have no weapons, you have only your fists and your body, maybe your teeth, you have only feet to chase me with, if I really was responsible and wanted to get away..."

She flutered her wings at that, lifting an eyebrow as she kept her eyes locked on the shark man, it was true enough, at least from appearances, if she wanted to run she could always just fly away... So why wasn't she?</div>

"I don't have to explain myself to you. Just know that I AM with the police."

The woman did have a point in that he lacked the badge and the proper procedure training to be considering a police officer, which he had implied with his previous commands. But, then again, he was not PART of the police. He was an independent contractor. That was what the police referred to him as in their official documents and tax returns. As the PMC is for the military, Lelei was for the police. Though he tried to remain true to their standards, he was not totally beholden to them.

Part of the reason for not following complete police procedure was that he specialized in handling the more-than-normal cases and suspects. The kind of folks and crimes that the regular police officer was not totally prepared for.

Lelei was unfazed by the woman's words. He maintained steady eye contact with her as she descended to her knees without turning around, and her hands still up. His own hands came down slightly, looking a little less threatening as he reached onto his belt to grab a pair of cuffs.

"So you ARE some kind of witch hooker. There's probably a real magic word for you, but I don't know it."

To an outside oberserver, yes, the woman might have seemed like quite the victim. She was on her knees and Lelei was cautiously approaching her with his hand slowly reaching out to her wrist. He was already very tall, so a woman on her knees right in front of him might have looked... suspicious. Especially considering the way he dressed: custom-tailored pants and boots with no shirt and a belt full of police-esque stuff.

"And if you're implying that you plan on running, I would not advise it. Don't make this any harder than it needs to be."

<div align=center>"Witch hooker?! Is this your first day on the job or what?"

The succubus' expression transformed almost immediately from one of frustration and more than a little anger, to one of incredulous shock! This... Man didn't even know what she was! Perhaps he was simply new, simply untrained in recognizing what it was he hunted, but if that were the case then it was time that he gained his first true lesson.

"Now I understand, you're new to this aren't you? Don't worry I'm not going to run, but before you handcuff me allow me to dispel a few misconceptions you have"

She rose then, slowly, if the shark man raced towards her she would leap backwards, dodging to one side and extending a leg to trip him up, but if he simply watched she would rise to her feet before approaching the body and moving into a squat beside it she would hold a single hand over the dessicated males corpse.

"First of all, know your prey, Succubi are demons that feed on lustful energies, men, women, human, vampire it doesn't matter, we can snack on energies spilled freely when those around us are... Excited, or we can claim a mans soul at the point of his climax if we so choose."

If he listened, or at least allowed her to continue she would gesture to the body of the man that he believed she had slain and she would continue her little lecture, but if he tried to use her little lecture as a chance to rush her she would again attempt to move away, again she would attempt to trip him if he charged, she had no intention of fighting him, and she seemed content enough not to run if he was willing to pay attention.

"Vampires you know of I have little doubt, they feed on the blood of mortals and drain their victims, those that pursue this until the death of their victim can drain the corpse entirely of blood, but they leave two distinctive fang marks on the victims neck, this body has been drained, not of energy which would leave it utterly markless but dead, but of its liquids, not just blood look"

If he had shooed her away from the corpse by this time she would still gesture to it, inviting him to look upon the body again, but if he had been intrigued by her little lesson and was willing to let her remain at the side of the body she would be able to point things out as she examined the body of the man she had found.

"Blood, saliva, I suspect if you were to check this man at the morgue you would find every bodily fluid drained from him, this is not something my kind can do, or if it is it is not something I am familiar with, I suspect something else, something akin to a vampire, but what bothers me is the lack of marks, this suggests his liquids may have been drained through... Existing orifices, perhaps his mouth, or perhaps through the pores of his skin"

The succubus would draw a little back then as she looked to the shark headed man who claimed to be working with the police, still not choosing to flee, but still not allowing herself to be caught so easily, her eyes flickered and glowed from within with an eerie violet light.

"As it is I find myself extremely upset by you, your unwillingness to listen to explanations, your pursuit, wanting to slap me in handcuffs simply because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, tell me, if you were treating a man who had been bitten by a savage animal, and someone attempted to arrest you simply because you had big teeth, and they refused to listen to reason, would you be pleased with that officer? Would you comply without a word? Or would you be offended by the mere thought that they believed you responsible just because you seemed like a suspect?"</div>

The apparent succubus was really lucky that Lelei was the patient type, despite his outward appearances. The entire time she was giving her speech on why she probably did not commit the crime in that alleyway, he was calmly trying to grab a hold of her wrist to cuff her. But every time he got close, she flittered off in some other direction, leaving him swiping at the air. It was an annoying process of trying to play catch up with the colorful woman, yet he resisted the urge to just pounce on her and hold her down.

"You think you're so smart, don't you?"

He tried getting at her wrist again when she finally quieted herself.

"Wrong place at the wrong time. Of course I assume you did it. Any officer would, miss."

It was rare for Lelei to wish he was not as big and bulky as he was. But the girl's constant evasion was making him feel that way. At the very least, back up was probably on the way as they spoke.

"I only have your word to go on, and there's not other witnesses her to corroborate your story. So I can't simply assume you're telling the truth either. You kids always think that talking or fighting enough puts you above the law."

When he saw an opening, he took it and shot his hand out with more speed than he had shown before, putting a firm grip on her wrist.

"If you're really innocent, the investigation will say so and you'll get off scot free. And even if you, being a talky little know-it-all will never help the situation. Just comply and let the law work."

<div align=center>Truth be told the Succubus was enjoying he game of keep away more than she s willing to let on, but every now and then a bright twinkle would sparkle in her eyes as she let her arm linger for just a moment longer than necessary letting Lelei feel as though he were sure to succeed before pulling herself away just in time, but as her little lecture came to a close the Succubus waited for Lelei's next attempt at grabbing her and simply extended her wrists, robbing him even of the satisfaction of finally catching her!

The contact was warm though, there was an undeniable softness to the Succubus' skin, but despite its seeming gentle nature it didn't bruise or chafe in the shark mans rough hands. A strange, sweet scent was rising from the womans body and this close to her Lelei was sure to smell it, but even Naamah didn't know how it would effect him, she had used her pheromones on males, females, those who were gay and straight, and even animals before but never had she tried to use them on aquatic beings. Still if she could skew his view of her then perhaps she would have a greater chance to talk her way out of this.

Whatever else happened the Succubus refused to reach the station.

"It doesn't work, assumptions are made based on race, gender and species, I will be found guilty even if the murder doesn't fit the M.O of a succubus kill simply because I AM a succubus, after all even if I'm not guilty of this murder I'm surely guilty of another you don't know about"

Cynicism? The Succubus spoke in a low voice as the shark man shackled her wrists, but for a moment she looked up at him with big, gentle violet eyes, she was the victim here, that was the impression she wished to convey, and if her pheromones did do their job then perhaps he would even believe her!

But for the moment at least the demoness would allow herself to be led, Lelei was in charge for the moment, and the Succubus would comply with his requests and orders, at least for the time being, but she was not done being devious, if the shark man attempted to get her to enter a vehicle, or a building the Succubus would recoil, shaking her head and looking up at the imposing figure that was her captor, she would inform him that she could not enter without the permission of the owner, it was a lie, but one that Lelei would have to deal with.

If on the other hand he chose to keep her in the alley and call in the murder to his friends on the force the Succubus would wait, even going as far as to sit upon the ground and place her ankles together.

"Well if you intend to keep an innocent woman hostage without any real evidence on a murder outside of her abilities then you better do this right, cuff my ankles as well, you wouldn't want me escaping after all"

She didn't speak with agression, even now she kept hostility from her voice, instead there was a false resignation, she was behaving herself, but how long would it be till she tired of this game?</div>

There was something--and Lelei honestly hating using this phrase--fishy about the young woman's actions. Not the fact that she gave a huge speech on why she should not be put in cuffs, nor the fact that she nonchalantly avoided his grasp the entire time. It was when Lelei finally actually caught her. He thought it had been opening and he had been quick to capitalize on it. On reflection, it seemed too easy and her attitude quickly changed to that of that of a victim once the cuffs were on her. A stark contrast to her talky self earlier.

As he cuffed her wrists behind her back, Lelei had to stop and stand still for a moment while he blinked noticeably for a few seconds, as if he was getting his vision back. He thought he had... felt something as he had leaned over to better get at her wrists. Heard? No... Saw? No... More like he got a tingle. A tingle that had similarities to when he smelled blood in the water or sensed fish beyond his ability to see. It also made his snout tingle a little, and the tip of his fin tint pink like he was blushing. The feeling was quickly suppressed, but not extinguished, as he continued to his duties.

"I don't want to think you did the crime, but I have to assume it based on what I see. Innocent until proven guilty and all. Just cooperate until the investigators arrive, alright?"

Even with her hands cuffed behind her back, Lelei kept a hand on her shoulder as they waited near the entrance of the alley for the other officers. With her new attitude, and the tingle, Lelei felt more inclined to be easy on her. Hell, somehow he was even starting to think that she might be damn easy on the eyes, even if she wasn't a cute boy.

"On your feet, honey. The others are here."

The flashing blue and red lights clearly signaled that the officers had arrived, and they were quick to file into the alley and section it off around the body. They knew their duties and they went about them as any respectable law enforcement officers would. When they started questioning the girl, they allowed Lelei to stay very close to her, just in case.

One thing they also did was clarify her situation, something that Lelei had failed to do due to his lack of actual police training. She was not under arrest, yet. Only they could arrest her. She was being detained, a state that could very easily be reversed if they saw no reason to continue holding her, and it would not even go on her record.

"Just tell them the truth. It's the best way to do this..."

Meanwhile, investigators were already taking pictures of the body and examining it. One thing to note was that there seemed to be one other person who seemed out of place on the scene with the police: a fellow in plain clothes with a bad full of books and tomes. He was going through them as they looked at the body.

"... He's another contractor for the police. A magical investigator. If what you said was true, he'll vouch for you."
