An arm wrapping itself around her startled Ania, and she looked up in surprise. "I'm okay. He just surprised me, I think." She felt horrible for worrying him, but was still pretty excited about him hugging her close. The promise of cooler clothes made her perk up considerably, and Ania didn't feel so out of place anymore. A sly smile graced her features when she heard what cover up story he had created. "No ring? How shameful! I hope you're not thinking of children, too." She thought she preferred this story to the sibling one. This would create much more interesting things to talk about back home.

Movement caught the corner of her eye and she turned to watch the strange man bring back a pile of fabric. Were these the clothes or did he expect them to make their own? The way they were piled in his arms made it look shapeless, and Ania wondered if Hadrian had accidentally asked for plain bolts of fabric instead of clothes. "Um. Those are the clothes, right?"

<div align=center>"Ah, he's a little strange looking," Hadrian admitted, the owner of the shop was on the older side, perhaps in present times people would assume he was sickly or dying, there was a strange sunken sort of look about his face, but he was friendly enough. "He means no harm, though, I think he has a daughter that works here sometimes, she is less odd looking." It was true, she didn't have a ring, perhaps he should find her one. Silver was pricey though, Hadrian would been able to easily afford it back home, but he didn't have enough roman coins to purchase one here, which he regretted just a little. "Alas, my fair lady, perhaps I can find a jeweler for you back at home?"

He thanked the man as he presented the garments to him, on closer inspection they were clothing, and pretty clothing at that. Each went well with the other, though Hadrian wasn't all that keen at the idea of wearing a toga. He'd have preferred the other kind of clothing, he didn't recall the name. The garment that had been found for Ania was dyed a pretty light blue color, decorated with darker blue and pastel red. "I'm sorry it's not silk." He murmured, "I didn't have enough for the both of us." </div>

More than a little strange looking. She didn't want to say anything, though. That would be mean to the person that gave them clothes. "So you've been here many times?" Enough to meet both the man and his daughter, she assumed. Maybe this was his favourite place to visit? She would have to remember that. "Oh! No, you don't have to buy me anything so expensive as jewelry. I'm happy with nothing!"

Touching the fabric tentatively, Ania was interested in the texture of the cloth. Hers was a very pretty blue, and she was enraptured with it. "Silk! No, this is perfect!" Ania was enraptured with her gift of clothing, and hoped that she would be able to keep it as a memorial of this trip. Looking up at Hadrian with a curious smile, Ania brought a hand up to draw his head down a bit more. Standing on her toes, she gave his cheek a quick kiss. "Thank you, Husband. This is much better than a ring."

<div align=center>"Kind of," Hadrian answered, it had more been that the owner of the shop had helped him out of an odd situation a little while ago and then been curious by the way he'd been dressed, but that was another story for another time. It was much easier to dress appropriately before you time traveled, but of course he hadn't owned anything designed for girls, but he didn't mind. If anyone checked Hadrian's wardrobe they'd find everything from a Cavalier's dress to a knight's armor. Most had only been worn maybe once or twice, they made for good Halloween costumes, though. He dug around in his pocket and handed the shop keeper a fistful of strange looking coins.

Hadrian had no problem with her keeping it, he'd bought it for her anyway. He was glad she liked it. "You're welcome." His eyes widened in surprise as she kissed him, and a warm smile crossed his features. It was nice to see real emotion portrayed on his face for once, it was rare for him to meet someone that brought his nicer side out. "Would you like to get changed?" He asked, "I'm sure there's somewhere in here where you can."</div>

"Yes, I think I'd like to get out of these gross clothes." The clothes she had on were dirty and dingy from the mixture of dust and sweat that clung to her skin. No matter how much she tried to clean herself, a new layer of dirt settled in it's place. After a while, Ania gave up on trying to remain clean and let the world settle on her body. At least with new clothes, she wouldn't sweat as much.

"Where are we going today?" There was so much to see and do, but they probably had a time limit of some sort, right? "Do we have to be back by a certain time?" She didn't particularly want to go home, but it wouldn't do to live in the past. If she accidentally got lost, would she have to live here? She didn't think anyone would know where to find her. The thought of being left behind was very scary, and she reminded herself that she must never lose sight of Hadrian. "What if I ... Get lost? What happens if no one finds me?"

<div align=center>Hadrian would have liked to change clothes, too, at least a toga was looser than what he was currently wearing, his clothing choices usually consisted of shirts and waistcoats, he more or less always looked fancy. He wasn't sure what they would do with their clothes they were wearing now, they could find something to carry them in or maybe leave them here and come back for them later. Besides, he wanted to see what the girl would look like all dressed up in a cute little robe, himself however, he'd have to just suck it up and wear it. There could be worse things, after all. Caesar wore a toga, Hadrian.

"What would you like to do?" He asked her, acquiring a soldier's hat was something he needed to remember to do, it was pretty likely she'd be able to charm one off someone, as for being back by a certain time, they probably shouldn't spend more than a day here. "I suppose when we get bored, or when we start feeling tired, it'd be a good idea to get out of here before night." Not for any reason, it would have just been nice to go home to sleep. "I won't let you get lost," he promised, "if you do, then I won't go home again until I've found you."</div>

After thinking for a moment, Ania decided that she wanted to go see the people fight for a bit. At least, if it got too messy, she could look away or something. Perhaps someone would even give her a hat. That had been her original intent, hadn't it? "Can we go see the gladiators? Are they fighting today? Is it too messy? I don't want nightmares ... " The last time she had witnessed a bloody fight, she had bad dreams for days. Still, it was interesting to watch.

His reassurance that he wouldn't leave without her set her at ease. Hopefully he meant it, too. Latching back onto her new friend, Ania eyed her new dress-thing suspiciously. It looked awfully odd; hopefully it wouldn't look too silly on her. Looking back the way they had come, Ania wondered if the little alleyway would be alright to change in. She didn't think these people had anything like public bathrooms yet, but then again, most history professors neglected to talk about the bathroom patterns of the past...

<div align=center>"I'm not sure," Hadie answered, eyes flickering up to look at the shop merchant, then back down at Ania again, "there's probably something going on." Gladiator fights were a regular occurrence, the Roman people liked a bit of blood and slaughter in their every day lives, it seemed. If he thought it was going to get too bloody he wouldn't let her watch, he'd feel bad if she got nightmares from it, she was so sweet, and there was something going on behind her eyes. Most girls he talked to had the lights on, but sure enough, when you knocked no one was home. "We can go and have a look."

Hadrian didn't like the idea of taking his clothes off in an alley, his gaze met the sunken one of the merchant and the two conversed for a moment or two, the strange man smiled and nodded about something, Hadie thanked him. "He says we can get changed in the back room, if we like." He offered, laughing softly at the suspicious look on her face, "don't look so worried, it'll be cute." He murmured, running a hand through his hair, it was damp with sweat, and that made him cringe. His fringe stuck up when his hand came away again.</div>

Hopefully they would be able to see a show together. It would definitely be exciting, to see little men running around in their cute little hats. Hoping that a grateful smile to the shop owner would ease the language barrier, Ania thought it was very nice of him to offer the back room. "Yes! That's much better than an alley." She had been a bit apprehensive about the whole ordeal, but this was going much smoother than she had predicted.

Cute? She wasn't cute-- she was majestic. Like a unicorn! "But I'm not cute, you're cute! I'm a majestic creature." Tossing her hair in a fake display of pretention, Ania paused to study Hadrian once more. His hair stuck up in a funny way, and it made her giggle a bit. "I think you'll look cute in a toga, too. Do people wear stuff under togas? I'd hope so... The wind would be very problematic." She had heard that men didn't wear things under their kilts in Scotland, and decided then that she would make it a point to never look under a man's kilt.
Wandering further back, Ania hoped that she was headed in the direction of a back room. "D'you think this is the right way?"

<div align=center>It was better than an alley, regardless of how arrogant Hadrian was, it wasn't likely that he'd start taking off his clothes in front of strangers. He absently followed Ania, getting a confirming nod from the shop keeper, suggesting that this was the right way and the right door. "You want me to wait outside?" He asked her, "while you get changed, I mean." The boy added, lifting an eyebrow. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable, he wanted to do more or less the opposite of that, in fact. He didn't mind waiting outside for a little while, he didn't think she'd take all that long, anyhow, though on second thoughts, did she know how to wear it? He had absolutely no clue how to wear a toga, despite all his research.

"I'm cute?" He asked, the corners of his lips curved up into a tiny little smile, "I'm rugged and handsome." He teased, lifting a hand to gently pet the top of her head, "but thank you." He laughed at her next question, and nodded, they'd been given a tunic each to wear under it, and he was pretty sure (or at least he would have hoped so) that both of them were wearing underwear. "I'm pretty sure I'm wearing underwear, at least, when I last checked."</div>
