She supposed it was true that people would get confused with their clothing. It wasn't often that people wore such things, after all. He was just cute enough to pull it off, though. "Just one? But you'd have a whole group to dote on you." Clutching Hadrian's hand in compliance, Ania pulled him along in the direction that the stream of people were going. They all had an expression of anticipation on, and Ania hoped that they were leading in the right direction.

The crowds seem to get thicker, and the noise got louder. Everywhere she looked, people were selling something. A building loomed in the distance, and she assumed it was the famous colosseum. "Look how big it is! Why don't we have buildings like that?" Wishing she could take a picture of everything, Ania looked around at everything in wide-eyed wonder. People in her time didn't make buildings and things with such care for detail. Finding herself very grateful to Hadrian to taking her, she thought that she would perhaps repay him by feeding him later. Boys liked lots of food, didn't they?

<div align=center>Hadrian shrugged, "that wouldn't be very gentlemanly of me though, would it?" He asked, Hadrian struggled a little to attach himself to people, he'd had a lot of girlfriends over time, but he'd never really had deeper feelings for any of them, it had always seemed to him that they were only there because he was pretty, which sounded awfully cliché in his head, but he liked to connect with people, there weren't many people he'd met that that could happen with. Hadrian was so stoic and quiet most of the time that people tended to think of him as untouchable and therefore avoided approaching him. He seemed almost the opposite of that in this situation. "It's nicer to make one person happy than have a whole bunch of people trying to make you happy."

He didn't really know the answer to her question, though he supposed it was because people didn't really need to have buildings like that nowadays. "I suppose architecture has changed, hasn't it?" He lifted his eyes to look at the building ahead of him, "we don't have to-the-death battles anymore." A thought crossed his mind wondering what would happen if that wasn't true, "will you be okay? You don't have to watch if it gets too, uh, bloody."</div>

Ania couldn't help but smile a bit when he mentioned that it would be easier to make one person happy. She wondered how people managed to keep a happy harem. It must have been a lot of work, especially if you weren't allowed to have favourites. "I wonder what would happen if we did have death battles. It would be awfully scary, to be forced into doing that ..." She suddenly felt bad, for wanting to see them. She knew that it was against their will most of the time, with a large portion of them being slaves and other such undesirable people.

Inhaling sharply, Ania considered his question carefully. She didn't want to lie per se, but she also didn't want him to take her back just yet. Well, at least if it got too bloody, she could hide her eyes. "I think I'll be okay. How long do these fights last?" She hoped the loser died quickly, though, she wouldn't be able to handle a slow death. Wanting to change the subject, Ania brought up the other reason she had come here. "Do you think they sell those hats? Or would we have to find a soldier...?"

<div align=center>Hadrian shook his head, he supposed it was just like war, wasn't it? Some people that went into wars never came out, and those that did were never the same again. He thought that the gladiators were trained for this, if he remembered correctly, some of them were even volunteers. He shook his head, he didn't like having dark thoughts. His eyes flickered down to the girl, the crowd had thickened considerably, despite their dress, they still looked relatively unusual, he could feel eyes on him, it made him feel just a little uneasy. His gait stiffened just a little, he hooked an arm around Ania's shoulders and pulled her close, "people are making eyes at you."

He waited a moment or two for her to answer, he didn't know they answer to her question, and he supposed it varied. "They don't always die." He told her, "sometimes they're just wounded and rendered unable to fight." Those wounds were usually fatal though, that was something he'd decided to leave out. "We'll probably have to find a soldier." They'd either have to steal it or charm it from him, perhaps they could find a nice one, maybe they'd have them guarding the Colosseum.</div>

She wasn't quite sure how to react when Hadrian pulled her closer. She looked at the crowds and confirmed that people were indeed staring at them. She saw more pairs of female eyes resting on her companion, though. Reaching up, she patted his cheek gently with a hand. "I think they're looking more at you." She was comforted when he said that they didn't always die. That was good, right? That meant they lived to see another day sometimes.

Her eye caught sight of a soldier and she pointed him out to Hadrian. "Look, there's one! Does he look like the type of person to give his stuff away?" She didn't speak latin, she wouldn't know how to ask in the first place. "How would we get it off him, anyway?"

<div align=center>Hadrian was feeling all too protective all of a sudden, and his air was very much like a mother bear protecting her children. He wouldn't forgive himself if something happened to Ania, since it'd be more or less completely his fault, he didn't want that blame to rest on him for the rest of his life. Plus it was an excuse to hold her just a little bit closer, "you don't mind, do you?" He asked, he'd let go if she objected, but it was useful for keeping up their rouse, or so he was telling himself, anyway. He laughed softly when she touched him, and reciprocated it with a pat on the head.

Hadrian paused, and looked up to where she had pointed the man out, he had stern, harsh features, his gait was serious and something about him reminded Hadrian of a vulture. Looks weren't everything, though. "You're probably gonna have to charm it off him." He finally said, he'd do it himself, but something about the man suggested that being hit on by a guy wouldn't be appreciated one bit. Perhaps if he thought Ania was some kind of exotic traveler he would be more open to giving her his hat? "Or we could come back after we've watched a battle, steal it, and run?"</div>

Ania didn't think she minded in the slightest. In fact, she was almost ... enjoying being so close to him. "No I — I like it." She didn't quite know how she felt about everyone else staring at him, but they weren't the ones being hugged, were they? Hooking an arm around his waist, Ania settled into place, watching the soldier with interest. "I don't speak much latin, though. He might get the wrong idea, too, if he sees me come back to you. Perhaps it would be easier to wait and snatch it afterwards. "

Should we go in now? It sounds like it's filling up fast." The people had poured into the colosseum already, and a dull cheering had begun in anticipation for the show to come. Hopping a little, Ania pulled towards the entrance, inhaling sharply when she saw the masses of seats, all pointed towards a wide circle. There wasn't much to see yet, nothing had started. "Where should we sit? Are we allowed to sit anywhere?"

<div align=center>Hadrian thought she was right, he could run fast enough and they could always go back before they were caught. We can't be arrested if we're not in the same time period! That was a good plan, he liked the idea very much, they wouldn't end up hurt because of it because, well, they could get away rather easily. He directed Ania carefully toward the entrance, joining the throng of people pushing to get in. He held on to her just that little bit tighter, as not to lose her. "Let's do that," he agreed with a nod, "you think you can run that fast?"

It was filling fast, he pulled her into a quicker pace, if they wanted to sit down they should probably hurry up, and as it was they were more or less just in time. "We can sit here." He told her, stepping back a short way so she could sit down on the little stone ledge, the seating looked more like stairs than seats, but Hadrian would rather have sat than not. He waited for a moment for Ania to sit down, before shuffling in next to her, and placing his hands in his lap. "We have a good view from here."</div>

She had never been a powerful runner, but she was just small enough that it was easy to slip into a crowd of people and blend. "I'm not very good at running, but I can blend in pretty well!" Perching at the edge of the stone seat, Ania felt a bit uneasy, feeling like they were being watched closely by the people around them. They weren't that noticible, were they? They looked more or less the same, maybe a bit foreign, but they almost looked like a real couple in this period. Maybe this wasn't how couples were supposed to act. She didn't know how to pretend to be in love.

Looking over, Ania decided that ogling was too temporary and was a little creepy. "Yes, very good view .. " Looking down into the circle, she thought hard about how she could further make it look like they were married. Holding hands was easy, and they had done it quite a lot so far. Quickly picking up his hand, Ania fidgeted for a moment before sliding under his arm, settling closer than she normally would have. This looked much more convincing, right? Staring hard at the centre once more, she perked up when something began to emerge. "Hey is it starting already? We really did make it just in time." She couldn't help but light up when a small team of horses came dragging the first competitor out in a little buggy. That was very impressive. "Look how pretty"

<div align=center>Being able to blend in would work well, he thought, if not he could just pick her up and run as fast as he could, she didn't look all that heavy to him, and Hadrian wasn't exactly what you would call weak. He wouldn't leave her behind in any case, nor would he let either of them be caught. He was hatching a plan in his head, if one of them distracted him the other could grab it and run. It'd probably end up going wrong, but Hadie thought he could fix it if it did, he was normally pretty good at fixing things, right?

He looked a tad surprised when she shuffled up close to him, though he didn't really mind, he played along and didn't resist to it, Ania was warm and she smelled nice, his head dropped sideways to rest it's self on hers. His eyes flickered down to the arena when she mentioned it. Music was playing from somewhere, he guessed there was a band down there, the first competitor were a large man, if Hadrian had stood beside him, the gladiator would have made him look tiny. He carried a large, double edged sword, Hadrian liked swords, he never used them for anything, but he liked very much to look at them. "He looks scary."</div>
