Evie felt...odd being back on campus.

She'd spent the last two months locked up on the islets, framed for a crime she didn't commit by her doppelganger. The damage the fake had done was more or less repaired by now; the fountain in the centre of the courtyard that had been destroyed looked good as new, and most of the student body were aware she didn't do it. Life was moving on, like all the stress of being arrested hadn't even happened.

She supposed she didn't really have anyone else to blame for thinking she'd done it, given her own reputation. Everyone knew she was a troublemaker, she'd been caught doing plenty of petty vandalism before, and she had just turned eighteen the day before the crime. It wouldn't be hard to believe she just got hammered and blew up the fountain with her powers in a drunken fit.

But now she was out, and with all the DCA business happening, no one was really paying attention to what she was up to. It was time to move from all the stress of being locked up, and Evie knew just the way to do it.

So, in the afternoon, she stepped out from her dorm and began to make her way across the campus, not really paying attention to any of the other students and faculty around as she headed to the front gate.

It had been roughly a few weeks or so since Yoshihiro Joe had arrived at the Manta Carlos islands. Suffice to say, it had bee a whirlwind for him in the time between then and now. Not only did he have to do extra work to get up to speed with his class as part of his transfer to Starlight Academy but, well, he was still having trouble wrapping his mind around the existence of such fantastical and strange individuals. As one who had grown up in the Narrow Reality for most of his life, meeting vampires and werewolves in gym class and painting besides a chatty demigod and slime girl was... Hard to adjust to, at least so far. Thanfkully, he was gradually growing more used to being surprised by those he met, as well as not letting it impact his opinion of them.

No- he had no time for that. Not when there was justice to be served.

"Time Cop, clocking in. I've found a secure vantage point to observe for suspicious activity amongst the student body. I shouldn't get yelled at by passing teachers this time. No unlawful activity can escape my gaze." Yojo whispered to his tape recorder as he straddled a large wooden branch overlooking the main courtyard of Starlight Academy. It was a fairly uneventful day with not too much foot traffic passing by him. Still, vigilance was needed if one was too respond to a crime in the making!

Yojo took a bit of the dango he'd brought with him, making sure this time not to drop any onto the grass beneath him like before. He was doing an okay job of hiding. Hopefully he wouldn't be noticed unless consciously looked for.

Suddenly, a new development. A suspicious girl slinking toward the front gate of the campus!

Yojo's eyes narrowed as he pulled up a pair of binoculars to watch the stranger as she made her way over. It seemed she was thinking to herself... Yeah, she was in her own head- which meant she was seriously considering something important... Such as BEING A LIFETIME CRIMINAL. Yojo swallowed the rest of his dango, certain of his assumption as being objective truth. Oh yeah, there was no way he could let this one go without observing her more. "Suspicious individual going to the front gate. Possible delinquent activity. I'm going to go investigate from a distance. Time Cop out." Yojo said before turning off the recorder, hopping down from his tree, and sneakily following Evie as she exited the front gate.

Just where was she going, anyways?

It didn't take too long for him to discover the where. The trip from the campus to the city was only a short walk, the trees and plants surrounding the path quickly giving way to the tall buildings and busy streets. Evie slipped passed the many others walking along the side of the road, stepping around some of the larger creatures that inhabited the island as she made her way through.

It didn't seem like she was really walking with any destination in mind at first. She simply strolled along, occasionally checking her phone as if she were waiting for someone to call. When it seemed clear whoever she was waiting to hear back from wasn't responding, she returned her attention to the streets around her.

After a little while of walking, Evie finally came to a stop in front of an alleyway. She cast a quick look around her, checking if anyone was really paying much attention to her, before stepping inside.

Really, she was currently waiting to hear back from her dealer, it had been far too long since she'd last gotten high. But until then she needed to preoccupy herself. Inside the alley, she stepped up against the wall, and casually began to walk up it, as if the wall was the ground underneath her. She reached into one of her jacket pockets while she walked and pulled out a small can of spray paint.

With the amount of time she'd spent in lockup, she needed to do something. Something to assert herself now that she was free to do so. Something like using her powers to scale a wall to a place no one else should be able to reach and leave a little mark for herself. Not her most original mischief, but sometimes falling back on old habits helped.

Maybe that's what she needed for today.

Not her most original mischief, but sometimes falling back on old habits helped.

After walking up two stories she sat down cross-legged on the wall, and started to spray paint onto it.

Just when he thought that she was going to stop and do something shady, she just kept walking. Did she know he was following her? She couldn't have, at least, not from the way that she was acting so far. What's more, her head was tucked down to look at her phone, only occasionally looking to make sure she didn't bump into someone while she walked. It was only when she stopped in front of a benign looking alleyway that she halted to look around and see if anyone was paying her any mind. Thankfully, this wasn't Yojo's first stalking pursuit, and he knew better than to try and look away erratically to avoid eye contact. Instead, he kept his eyes forward, a trained and glazed look in his eyes as if he were looking through the girl to the street ahead rather than right at her. It seemed to work, she disappeared in the alleyway a moment later.

Bingo, he was on to something.

Yojo stopped near the entrance to the alley, waiting to hear the girl's footsteps walk away from him before poking his head out somewhat to spy on her. His gut instinct told him that a drug deal of some kind was in the process- what his gut did not prepare him for, however, was seeing her casually stroll up the wall. "What the..." He whispered to himself, eyes going wide in confusion. There was no way he'd be able to get up there. His prized long arm of the law was just not long enough to reach 2 stories above him.

Yojo watched as the girl pulled out a spray paint can, popped a squat down on the side of the wall, and began painting. Vandalism, eh? It wasn't the kind of thing he'd be snapping pictures of and rushing to Roldan with as evidence for a hot lead. Still, it was illegal, and just those terrible purple grape-flavored Jolly Ranchers, he should had halted her right there for participating i something so blatantly illegal...

The teen sighed as he watched the girl work. He didn't have it in him to bust her for this. Did he?

He looked over his shoulder to check if anyone was coming, thinking on his feet and abruptly walking into the alleyway.

"It looks good so far." He said loud enough for his voice to carry up to where the girl was painting. He kept his hands in his pockets, eyeing the early stages of her design. "Reminds me of LA. Makes the urban sprawl look less gray, as well as make the homeless feel like they have a landmark to call home." Yojo said, admiring his work and trying oh so hard to not seem too offputting. He refocused his gaze on the girl more intently, "Can I get the artists name? I don't think you'd be leaving a signature as it stands." he requested, his interest in the strange gravity-defying girl growing by the moment.

"I'm Joe. Yoshihiro Joe."

The constant hiss of paint disappeared as soon as he spoke, the girl's head poking up a little. Internally, Evie rolled her eyes. She was hoping to get a little further along before someone interrupted, but hey, at least he wasn't screaming at her to get down. Could be worse.

She leaned back peering over her shoulder down at him, her usual casual smirk replacing her previously bored look.

"I just figured I'd do the city a favour and make the place a little less drab." She said with a sarcastic shrug. "For a weird magic island things start to feel boring real quick y'know?"

Evie was...not an artist, that much was obvious at a glance. So far all she'd done was leave a bunch of green squiggly lines over the bricks, without any real sign of cohesion to what she's doing. It seemed there wasn't much plan beyond just spraying on the wall.

"You ain't got a problem with that do ya, Joe?" She asked, lying back, intentionally leaving out her name for the moment. She laid back, smirking down at him, leaving her in an odd-looking position hanging upside down against the wall.

Yojo crossed his arms in front of his chest as he watched the girl pause in her artistic pursuits long enough to notice him. She certainly had the air of a fellow trickster, just by looking at that insufferable smirk and knowing gleam in her gaze. God, had he been like that growing up? Either way, she avoided giving him her name, a fact that didn't endear him to her all that quickly.

"Less drab, huh?" He asked, thinking the point over for a moment. Manta Carlos wasn't too different from some of the bigger cities he'd visited growing up. "I don't know if I'd agree too quickly to that." He replied, shaking his head slowly. Hell, he'd only been here a month or so and he was still being surprised by the people het met. Being a student may have been a tad boring, but at least the people didn't seem all that dull!

He eyed the green squiggles on the wall that she'd etched down before he interrupted her as she spoke. It was unlikely he'd be able to get up there and actually stop her from doing something he didn't want her to. He was a sad little boy with sad little boy legs that, alas, could not walk up walls like she could. Then again, from an ex-trickster to a current one, he loathed the idea of having to rat someone out for something so small- even if it fell under delinquent behavior!

"Yeah, I do." He stated, looking up at the girl as he stood there. "I'm something of a cop wannabe. I'd be happy if you'd stop and come down, but I don't think I could stop you if you refused. Compound that with not wanting to rat you out for something so small and you're leaving me in a difficult position currently." He hummed in thought, scratching his nose a bit as he watched her lay down... Upside down against the wall.

"If this is just, like, a boredom thing. I'd be happy to try and entertain you for the rest of the day until it gets late and you decide to go home." He offered, waiting to see if she'd bite at all to the idea. He didn't have plans for the rest of the day, truthfully. Making an acquaintence out of a new classmate wasn't the worst idea ever. "If not, we can always make a bet." He said, fishing around his pocket for a coin and flipping it idly in his palm.

Come on, he had to hook her on that part if worst came to worst, right?

"Hmm, I would appreciate some kind of entertainment from you..." She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively down at him. "Buuuuuut you aren't really my type. Me and wannabe cop boys don't always get along."

*She stretched her arms above (below?) her head, before hopping back onto her feet and spinning to face him, crossing her hands behind her back as she leaned forward, peering down at him.

"A bet might be interesting though. What'cha got in mind, wannabe cop boy?"

That smirk hadn't left her face yet, though from the look in her eyes she clearly wasn't giving this conversation that much interest. Still, she'd hear him out for the moment.
