Varvara strode through the city as though she knew exactly where she was going.
In truth, she did not. The demonness was not often on the main island, preferring instead to stay on the Western Islet where she worked as an administrator. She preferred the shadows and the screams and the fear of the students that entered the building.
Unfortunately, none of them were afraid of her. It did nothing for her powers.
So Varvara was out, looking for something to eat. Physical food, magic, whatever she could find. It wouldn't be the life of a child, though, oh no, not here, not on these islands. There were too many eyes. She was too pleased with her job, her lodgings, to sacrifice that.
Not when she was so close to finding a therapist that wasn't terrified of her.
Varvara stopped in an intersection and looked both ways. She was oblivious to anyone who might be watching her from the rooftops up above. Varvara stood there, crossed her arms, and thought.
