Ven needed a break.

The young man was dressed, as he always was, in black clothing. His jeans were too-tight and black. His (also black) featured a raven over a pile of roses and a band name that read something something in white. The first part was obscured by a splotch of still-wet paint.

The same paint (black) was splattered across Ven's forehead, his bangs safe thanks to the bandanna (also black) that held his hair away from his face. Though there were dark bags beneath his eyes, Ven was surprisingly alert. He was having a good day; he hadn't had any symptoms, but he knew better than to test it. A coffee would be good, he thought.

Unfortunately, his eyes were not alert enough to keep Ven from walking right out into the hallway infront of someone.

He just barely stopped himself from crashing into them or knocking them over but, for once, Ven was light on his feet.

"oh gosh," he said. "I'm so sorry!"

The young woman with wavy brown hair who was dressed in jeans and a green t-shirt with a brown jacket looked to be more of a student than the staff member she was. Sofia often got mistaken by other staff members for a student...which didn't bother her too much. It actually helped her to get along with the students better by appearing to be one of them. They opened up to her more because she was closer to their age than the other staff at the school. She saw it as an advantage.

She'd been wandering through the arts building for no particular reason other than to see a wing of the school she didn't normally get to when someone nearly collided with her. Sofia took a quick step aside to help prevent the crash from happening, but they both managed to come out unscathed.

"I'm good," she replied with a nod. "Sorry about that. I normally watch where I'm going."

"It's my fault," Ven said, lifting up his hands in apology. It was only at that moment that he realized he had dried paint on the back of his left hand; you can guess the color.

Shit, if he'd crashed into her, Ven would probably have gotten paint on her and she was...

She was kind of pretty. Ven wasn't good at determining pretty. His younger brother would point this out. You're more interested in anime girls, Tsun would say. Ven swallowed. It didn't matter if she was pretty or not, though, as long as she was nice, he thought.

"Listen, I was about to get a coffee," Ven said. "Would you let me get you one for almost crashing up into you? Unless you've got other plans already, in which case I'd hate to make you even more late. Er, later. I mean later as in more late, not i'll see you later alligator--I'm going to shut up now."

Sofia looked the boy over. He was a little messy from paint, and wore predominately black clothing...an interesting look for a student, she supposed, but not unusual. Perhaps he was studying art? It would explain all the paint.

She offered a kind smile and nodded, "Sure, I'll go with you. I could go for a coffee." It would be a chance to get better acquainted with another student at the school, since she mostly just saw students in her office, and the only one she tended to interact with outside of that was Riley.

"My name is Sofia," she said, offering her hand.

Ven did his best to recover from his verbal vomit.

She agreed to go for a coffee, which did quite a bit at relieving the redness that creeped into Ven's face with his embarrassment. He nodded and grabbed a rag from inside the room he'd left to wipe the paint off his hands and then shut the door behind him.

"Hello Sofia," he said, holding out his hand. "My name is Thievenne, but friends call me Ven, or Moon Moon. So any of these are fine, but honestly only my mom calls me Thievenne."

His grin while they walked was wide and easy.

"Have you been here at the school long?" he asked.

She watched him wipe off his hands and offer one to her, smiling as she took it and squeezed his hand gently. "Ven, then," she said decidedly. She tended to call students by their preferred nicknames if they had one, it helped to make them feel a little more comfortable around her.

Sofia walked by his side as they headed to get coffee. The caffeine would certainly help pick her up at this point during the day.

How long had she been at the school? She had to think about that for a second. "Not long," she replied. "Maybe a couple of months. What about you?"

Her hand was soft and warm and Ven felt a bit of a blush coming onto his face. He shook his head, further messing up his unruly dark hair, and Ven tried not to walk too close to her while they walked.

Although, occasionally, his arm would brush up against hers and Ven would again feel himself blush.

"About the same," he admitted. "It's sort of awkward coming to the school right in the summer time. I know classes are going on, but it feels like it's harder to meet people, ya know?"

As they were quickly approaching their destination, Ven also asked, "How do you take your coffee?"

Sofia walked alongside the boy, not really minding the occasional contact when his arm bumped against hers, though she could hear the way his pulse sped up a little. She wondered if it was because he was still nervous about bumping into her? Did he know she was the counselor for the school? Maybe that was it.

So, he was still sort of new, too? Sofia nodded in understanding, "I agree, it can be hard to make friends when everyone's already settled in their social circles. Though, I think you'll find that there are people around who are just like you," she hoped that would bring him a little comfort, maybe help him calm down a bit.

How did she take her coffee? "Black," she smiled. Black and bitter and strong. When she was human, she'd gotten accustomed to not having time to sweeten her coffee, and that taste had carried over into her life as a werewolf.

"Thanks, I hope so!" Ven said. He was surprisingly optimistic and even more surprisingly cheerful. People tended to see the black clothing and assume doom and gloom; Ven was happy to disappoint.

He said, "Right. Two coffees, one how I like my metal and the other like with enough sugar to jumpstart my heart. I'll be right back!"

Ven zipped up to the counter of the coffee stand and ordered both, chatting amiably with the barista before returning to Sofia. He handed her the coffee and took a sip of his own, which had so much sugar it hurt his teeth to drink. Perfect.

"I guess I'm a little disappointed I haven't met anyone quite like me yet," Ven explained. "I mean, I'm....sort of a werewolf, only not really, and I haven't even met a wolf-wolf werewolf yet. Do you know any?"

ooc: Sorry for the delay! I swore I responded to this on Tuesday.

Sofia watched him as he bounded off, giving a light chuckle. It was refreshing, to see a student around here who wasn't mopey and miserable all the time. She dealt with a lot of troubled teens, but this one didn't seem to fall into the category of 'needing help'.

She thanked him as she took her coffee and sipped at it, the bitter taste spreading over her tongue. It certainly woke her up, just from the placebo effect of knowing she was drinking coffee, but the caffeine would kick in soon after, she knew, and make her feel even more alert.

Tilting her head at him, Sofia listened to his question and smiled. "Know any? I am one," she replied, taking another sip from her cup.
