1. One of the best ways to get me on board with an idea is if hilarity is bound to ensue. No matter how big this list of characters ends up getting, I can assure you most of those contained are dorks or snarky (or both) to make for comedic potential and moments of levity.

2. I am also a sucker for cuteness. Even if I don't explicitly say that a character needs to be hugged, I will not generally turn down a meet-up justified with '[character] will hug them.'

3. I definitely can and will write dark/dramatic things, but if I break my character, it's because I intend for them to pick up the pieces, even if it takes a long time. As a general guideline, I won't sign them up to be a victim unless the villain in question is also being signed up for payback. You can kick the puppy, but you'll get the teeth.

4. I am more than okay about the note about kicking puppies above applying to my own bad guys. Seriously. You wanna knock 'em down a peg, I'm open to suggestions.

5. If you want to do something particularly violent, the specifics need to be worked out ahead of time, regardless of who the violence is aimed toward. Also please don't be upset if that thread moves more slowly than my more lighthearted stuff; it's not that I don't enjoy it, just that it takes more energy.

6. If you have a plot idea that doesn't match anything listed for the character, go ahead and pitch it to me anyway.

LUNETTE

Age: ??? - Immortal, appears roughly in her twenties
Grade: 1st Year College Student
Species: Magical Construct
Pronouns: She/Her
Powers: Construct (Eternal Beauty, Inorganic Flesh, Dulled Senses), Magic Manipulation (Magic Drain, Repair, Supercharge)
Orientation: Asexual, Panromantic
Relationship Status: Single (open to romance)

Character Alignment: Neutral Good
Danger Level: Low-Medium. Only acts violently in defense of herself or others, and usually avoids lethal force. Turns unpredictable during a magic high, however, which can potentially include increased aggression. Lacks directly combat-oriented magic, relying on inhuman strength and durability.

Who Is She?:
-Poor confused lady from another realm who has no idea how she got here but is making the best of it by going to Starlight Academy
-Currently working at Temptations as a waitress.
-Master of the 'please come over here and talk to me I want to be friends' sad puppy stare
-Likes pretty things/people and will sad puppy stare at them even more
-Will grin like a dork if you give her something fluffy to cuddle despite a barely-existing sense of touch
-Treating her like an object is a great way to piss her off

What She Needs:

Other Artificial People: AIs, animated dolls, living statues, clockwork creatures, or anybody else who was made, not born. Luna has never had anyone else around similar to herself, and it would be nice to give her some friends who could relate to her on that level.

Leaders: While very quick to assert that she is a living being with her own desires, the fact of the matter is that Lunette struggles without someone to, at the very least, give suggestions about what to do next. She also likes very much to feel like she's being helpful to someone. If left to her own devices, she'll mostly read or play violin by herself, but if invited to a party or asked for help with homework, she'll jump at the chance.

People To "Feed" On: Lunette needs magic to function and she's likely to eventually need to take a bit from someone else to keep going, depending on how much power she expends. A little goes a long way, so it's unlikely to harm them, but absorption has a 'high' of sorts for Lunette, and can have effects on her behaviour depending on its source. It's a perfect recipe for shenanigans.

DESDEMONA ARGRYS

Age: 18
Grade: 1st Year College Student
Major: History
Minor: Dark Arts
Species: Demigoddess
Pronouns: She/Her
Powers: Daughter Of Icelus (Dream Walker, Beastly Avatar, Tainted Dreamscape, You Don't Scare Me), Link To The Underworld (VIP Status, Soul Bound, Spirit Sense)
Orientation: Pansexual/romantic, Polyamorous
Relationship Status: Single (open to sex and romance)

Character Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Danger Level: Anywhere from Low to High. You don't mess with her and hers, she won't mess with you, but don't push her unless you want to deal with her semi-divine wrath. Her powers are made for torment, not direct violence, but she doesn't stay dead, so there's no getting away from her permanently if she's decided to make your life hell.

Who Is She?:
-Daughter of the deity Icelus (also known as Phobetor), of the Greek pantheon. She thought she was human until she died and met her father in the Underworld, and found her letter to Starlight Academy waiting for her when she came back to life.
-Still fully adjusting to this whole 'magic is real and I am a WHAT now?' thing, but is for the most part embracing it.
-Uncontrolled nightmare powers make it really hard for her to get a good night's sleep, and she practically lives on coffee as a consequence.
-Very morbid tastes, and a sometimes dark sense of humour. She doesn't mean to make people uncomfortable, but tends to anyway.
-Has a sadistic streak that will get worse every time she dies.

What She Needs:

The Dark, The Deathly, And The Dangerous: Death just being a short vacation has done interesting things to Desdemona's perception of danger. She can interact with ghosts, and is also immune to powers meant to provoke aversion toward others, causing her to be more likely to fall hopelessly in love with beings who normally make others run away screaming. Undead, demons, eldritch abominations, and those with powers circling around darkness, destruction, and death would all be much desired.

Killers: Des is pretty much built with the intention of being a murderer's "You done goofed," moment. So, if anyone is especially interested in a murder victim who comes back and starts gleefully giving her killer horrible nightmares, in addition to doing whatever else she can to torment them, I'm open to ideas. People who accidentally kill her are welcome, too. They would get off lightly in comparison, but she'd still be pissed off and screw around with their dreams until they properly made amends.

Influences, Good And Bad: Des, while she does her best to hide it, is in a vulnerable state of mind these days, and quicker to trust than she likely should be. It wouldn't be hard for her to start walking down a dark path if pushed, but she could be also be pulled back before she does something regrettable. It all depends who she surrounds herself with, and I'd like a good amount of push and pull going on to keep it up in the air whether she'll end up a good guy or bad guy in the end.

CADENCE COBALT

Age: 24
Subjects Taught: Ariacorean History/Culture, Artificial Intelligence Studies
Species: Ariacorean (Alien)
Pronouns: She/Her, They/Them, whatever else you want to use
Powers: Soldier Ariacorean (Alien Physiology, Alien Life Cycle, Crepuscular Adaptation, Self-Modification, Hive Mind)
Orientation: Abrosexual, Panromantic, Polyamorous
Relationship Status: Single (open to sex and romance)

Character Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Danger Level: Low-Medium. Cadence is pretty tough in a fight, but isn't too likely to get into them. She's temperamental on her bad days, but on the good ones generally won't do more than stir up minor trouble for amusement's sake.

Who Is She?:
-An alien from the Ariacorean Empire, which makes up a number of star systems in the Wild Duck Cluster.
-Is here to teach everybody about how awesome the Empire is, make sure any AIs around are treated properly, and possibly lay the groundwork to establish an hive on Earth.
-Human-like in appearance, but very non-human in biology and mindset. Humans are weird. Cute, sure, but weird.
-Her species is telepathic, and lack of mental contact leaves her feeling isolated and prone to mood swings.
-Is 'orderly' in a very alien way, which comes across as chaotic to Earthlings. She likes to mess with people to see what makes them tick and push people to see where the boundaries are.

What She Needs:

Other Aliens: Extraterrestrial buddies! Cadence needs people to hang out with and laugh over how strange Earthlings are. Plus, while her interests tend to lean toward the technological, she loves learning (and teaching) in general, so some informal cultural exchange with people from other parts of the galaxy would be great.

Artificial Intelligences: Cadence is a downright mother hen when it comes to AIs. Seriously. She will adopt them as her little synthetic children if given half a chance. Need repairs or upgrades? She'll hook you up and make sure it's done right the first time.

Telepaths: Cadence is of a species that primarily communicates with pure thought. She can speak verbally, and does so very well, but she'd jump at the chance to connect with someone mentally to ease the loneliness she's been feeling because of the 'silence' of being cut off from her species' hive mind.

NADIA LEONHARD

Age: 19
Career: Gang Member
Species: Demon (Wrath)
Pronouns: She/Her
Powers: Royal Demon (Immortality, Take The Heat, Demon Wings, Holy Weaknesses), Being Of Wrath (Burnout Avoidance, Rage Resonance, Berserker Mode)
Orientation: Homosexual/romantic
Relationship Status: Single (open to romance)

Character Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Danger Level: High. Approach with caution. While she won't just start attacking people without provocation (at least when she's in her right mind), it doesn't take much to provoke her. Other demons, and those strongly associated with them, are usually safe, but with other people she's highly likely to lash out physically. Even those who she doesn't want to hurt run the risk of being caught up in her rage when she goes full berserker.

Who Is She?:
-A daughter of Satan, prince of Wrath. She's recently been kicked out of Hell and sent to her cousin Klaus to make herself useful on Earth.
-Hates and distrusts most people by default, becoming especially irritated and defensive around overly nice and friendly people. She expects the worst of everyone, with the exception of other demons and their associates.
-Near-perpetually angry and often motivated to do things purely by spite.
-Struggles expressing any emotions that aren't connected to rage and loathing and really is very socially awkward beneath the surface of, "Grrr, go away, I don't like you."
-An unapologetic sadist, but hates bullies and doesn't want to be one. Will even protect people who win her over.

What She Needs:

Family Members: While she won't admit it outright, Nadia wants an actual family with people who care about her, and, well, so far her track record with demons has been better than with humans, so the logical progression of thoughts is to give these half-siblings, cousins, and others connected to the demonic side of her family tree a chance. That doesn't mean she's not still going to be grumpy and lose her temper with them, but she'll at least make an effort not to hate them on sight, which is more than most people get.

Calm People: Nadia gets angrier when around angry people, so people who are naturally calm and mellow are easier for her to spend time with without losing it. She'll still be volatile, but having some calming influences who she can seek out when overwhelmed might help her not do anything she'd regret.

Punching Bags: A kinder way of describing them would be 'sparring partners,' but, in practice, this is more what they'd be. Nadia only stops being angry when she's exhausted, so she exercises. A lot. And she also likes to fight. A lot. This means that she needs some sturdy and/or fast-healing, preferably outright immortal, people to help her burn energy via beating them up.

CAMILA DELAROSA

Age: 31
Career: Actress/Model
Species: Were-Jaguar
Pronouns: She/Her
Powers: Mark Of The Beast (Apex Predator, Lunacy, Share The Mark, Jaguar Form)
Orientation: Pansexual/romantic, Polyamorous
Relationship Status: Single (open to sex and romance)

Character Alignment: True Neutral
Danger Level: Low-Medium...most of the time. She's very laid back and friendly, more likely to talk things out or just leave the area if displeased with someone, but her physical strength and jaguar form make her dangerous if she does decide to throw down. However, on the full moon, this jumps to High, with a big approach with caution warning. She's not in her right mind during this time.

Who Is She?:
-A formerly-human actress who was transformed against her will by a stalker, then adopted by his werecat clan after they kicked him out for it.
-She's making her non-human nature work for her, taking on roles in both of her shapes, and building quite the fanbase in Manta Carlos as a result.
-Friendly and charismatic on the surface, but a huge nerdy dork underneath. She'll totally GM for you if you ask her too.
-Tends to 'adopt' other people and become protective over them, especially ones who show vulnerability to her. She's huge softie and more than willing to be a shoulder to cry on if someone needs it.
-Takes a turn for the feral on full moons, making her more aggressive and primal, but also easy to mentally manipulate.

What She Needs:

Attention: Friends, admirers, adoring fans, anyone who will pay her positive attention is more than welcome. A boundless extrovert, Camila loves to engage with others, and especially loves to be fawned over. Feed the pretty kitty's ego, and she'll think you're just wonderful and dote on you in response. She's very good to people who are good to her. Just don't get creepy. She errs on the side of caution with creepy, because she'd rather not get mauled by a lion again.

Full Moon Encounters: Camila's impulse control goes right out the window when the Lunacy takes hold, and as much as she's been trying to keep the details of how severely it affects her out of Manta Carlos' tabloids, incidents are bound to happen. She can be set up to get into brawls, become a particularly forward admirer for an attractive character, or end up doing dangerous, thrill-seeking stunts because her voice of reason has gone temporarily mute. Those who can influence emotions with their powers will also find her especially easy to manipulate during this time.

This seems to be an obvious one, but whatever, obvious plots can be good too.

I have Enelen, who shares a good amount in common with Lunette. They're both from another world (although Enelen jumped intentionally), and they're both magic based. He could probably fit in both the 'feed on' category, as well as possibly the 'leader' - but also the 'we're from other worlds so this is pretty much it's own shared experience thing'.

Maybe the school would point her towards him if she's a recent arrival?

I have Vinanye, my Fae made from a gem. They're very new to this culture and is in need of much huggles and learning. They fit the artificial people role and the people to feed on role because Vinnie will pretty much do anything to help someone.

I also have Cecily, who is a living doll and pretty much likes anyone. She's not a leader; she is very much a follower, but she's kind and willing to talk to anyone and do anything people want (almost). She and Cecily are a lot alike!

And I'll throw Wess in here because I like my Wendigo, and he needs a hug. He's not beautiful, not physically speaking, but he wouldn't wanna eat Lunette, so he'd take a liking to her immediately. :creepyllama:

Oh, I like this idea. It'd be helpful to her to meet someone who had an idea of what she was going through, and she'd be likely to make a few mental parallels between Enelen and the wizards of her home, which would make for comforting familiarity. I could definitely see someone nudging her in his direction upon realizing exactly how lost she feels on Manta Carlos; she's optimistic about the place, but it doesn't stop the change from being overwhelming.

Plus, she's definitely going to be taking magic-related courses (she wants to figure out what the rules are here for magic ASAP), so it'd be very easy to have them encounter each other in a classroom setting.

@Foxy

Oh, I love the idea of Lunette meeting Vinanye. I can't see her not being a little mesmerized at first, even not taking in account their glamour. She would be more than up for huggles and would be happy to try to help with figuring this place out, even if she's kind of floundering in that area herself. And me figuring out what feeding on fae magic would do to Lunette will be fun, because there's no way that's not going to mess with her head more than usual.

Lunette and Cecily do have a lot in common, I agree. Lunette does have some capability to step out of her follower role in small ways, and being around Cecily would be good for bringing that out in her. Plus she's just so tiny and cute, which is a perfect recipe for also bringing out Lunette's protective streak, regardless of how indestructible Cecily actually is.

Oh my gosh Wess...I just...Yes, hugs. There would be hugs. Lunette wouldn't even make a fuss if he got blood on her pretty clothes in the process. Just, hugs. She would want so badly to help him somehow, even if all she really can do is be someone he can spend time around without wanting to eat her. I can just imagine the rumours that are going to crop up if people start to notice Lunette vanishing into the forest at night on a regular basis.

I'm up for either - if you want, maybe she heads to his office after signing up for his class to get any materials she might have missed? And they can talk there.

So I'm fine with all three of those, naturally! I suggest we start with one first. I'm more inclined to start with Vinanye or Wess. It's your choice! I am going to be a bit slow to post until next month because of school.

*nod* That sounds good. That 'Comparative Magical Studies of Other Worlds' class mentioned on his profile sounds like it'd pique Lunette's interest in particular, and strikes me as one that would be really easy for her to accidentally miss something. It's also a class that would be an especially good set-up for her letting something slip about her situation and leading into a conversation.

@Foxy

I'd lean toward Vinanye first. I noticed that Vinnie has an apartment in the Strip, so did we maybe want to have a thread around there, or Downtown in general? Lunette will almost certainly be found openly gawking at everything around her.

That would work extremely well seeing as Vinnie does the same thing hah. If you wanted to start the thread, feel free, but if you'd rather I did it I might take awhile because of school finals.
