Name: Camila Delarosa
Age: 31
Birthday: April 13th
Gender: Woman
Species: Were-Jaguar
Career: Model/Actress
Appearance Description:
Camila is five feet, five inches of drop dead gorgeous Latina woman, and the camera absolutely adores her. Her figure is a generous hourglass, with those curves layered over muscle that is not obvious until she moves just right to flex them. Her muscle tissue isn't hard, but supple and flexible; she has the musculature of a cat and the grace to match. There is a smoothness and purpose to her stride that gives Camila an overall feeling of effortless power, something that some would call alluring and others may consider intimidating.
Rich, dark skin and glossy black hair that stops at her mid-back play contrast to how very bright Camila's eyes are. What had once been a honey brown are now a sharp golden hue, irises seeming to almost shimmer like stained glass in low light, reflecting the beast behind her pretty smile. And what a smile it is, as her upper canine teeth are long and sharp enough to be noticeable, but not quite enough to be seen when her lips are closed.
The rest of her facial features are youthful, but not overly so; most would guess her age at her early twenties, with soft lips, small nose, cheekbones undeniably present but not too sharp, and thin brows that naturally carry an inviting arch but that can easily come crashing down above her fierce eyes to make for an intense glare. Her dark lashes are thick, and Camila is known to stare through them at others as her eyelids droop with lazy, feline smugness. Look closely enough, and one can make out faint freckles that dart across her nose and carry down her neck to her shoulders, nearly invisible against her skin tone.
Seeing Camila's wardrobe, the first thing people generally figure out is that she is very fond of black, as well as every shade of what could be considered purple. Leather boots that reach her knees and add inches to her height are paired her custom leather jacket that has Camila in flowing, silver-white cursive on its back, above her personal symbol, a bright purple Aconitum flower surrounded by a circle of darker purple jaguar-like spots. Tops with plunging necklines, tight black jeans or short skirts, jewellery glittering with amethysts, every bit of her style seeks to show off her figure, her wealth, or both.
There's just one part of her appearance that Camila isn't proud of. On the left shoulder, a set of long scars rake downward, difficult to be mistaken for having come from anything but claws. They are her Mark, and nothing will ever make it fade, no matter how much she may wish it to.
Personality Description:
The life of the party has arrived! Camila can be a lot of things, to a lot of people, but she is never, ever boring or forgettable, and she prides herself on that. In a world where some people have magics to draw and keep attention, she has to achieve her own with pure, raw charisma, and boy does she give her best effort to do that. Buckets of confidence tempered with genuine friendliness and empathy make her an effortless extrovert, willing to approach anyone and strike up a conversation about anything.
Seeing her knocked off balance or unsure of what to say is rare, and she'll often shift her approach depending on how comfortable those she's talking to are, bouncing effortlessly off the equally confident and gently drawing the shier ones out of their shells. She's very good at looking like she's hanging on the every word of her conversation partner, mostly because she is genuinely interested in getting to know others and hearing what they have to say.
That said, Camila is a bit...eccentric. She's a dork, is what I mean. A big, nerdy dork. With a playfully childish streak a mile wide and enthusiasm to spare. Having spent the majority of her life as part of The Narrow Reality, her general attitude toward the supernatural, including now being one of them, can be summed up with "SQUEEEEEEE!" She has enough social awareness and self control not to ask awkward questions or openly fangirl, but you better believe that if she meets a dragon, the first thing she's going to be imagining is flying through the air on their back.
Her approach to the 'mundane' aspects of life, for their part, can be summed up by the confused stares of those unused to her company, and the exasperated sighs of those who know her all too well, when she does something that's silly, and that she knows is silly, because she can. You can question why she's decided that, say, taking a nap in the highest branches of that tree is a good idea, but if you're expecting something that doesn't contain a cat joke, most likely a punny one, you'll be disappointed.
It's very easy to brush Camila off as one-dimensional, and people indeed have. Friendly, playful, energetic, loves attention. But there's more to it than that. First of all, someone doesn't get to where she is without being driven. She is someone who will lock her sights on a goal and, no matter how many times she is knocked to the ground in the pursuit of it, she will get back up. Why is she so cheery? Because she knows she's going to get where she's aiming, and nothing and no one is going to stop her.
This ferocity and focus comes out in how she interacts with others, too. Family is everything to her, and who 'family' is, to her, means more than who she's blood-related to. She likes pretty much anyone who doesn't make being unlikable into a life goal, but when she loves someone, she becomes a different beast entirely. When it comes to them, morality gets a little wobbly, and 'good' can come to mean 'good for us.' If she felt that she needed to tear apart the world and rebuild it from scratch to care for her loved ones, you better believe she'd try.
The sheer intensity of these emotions makes Camila wary of letting people in so close that they influence her in such a manner. More family is more to care for, more to protect, and more to worry over. The longer someone spends in her company, the more they may realize that she doesn't volunteer much information about herself beyond the surface, leading to that all-too-familiar dismissal of her in the belief that there is no depth at all to find.
She's not as good at fending off attachment as she would like to be, though. Usually all it takes is one moment of vulnerability, one time as the shoulder to cry on, and the desire to adopt and care for takes over. It's just far too easy for her to love.
Powers/Species Abilities:
Mark Of The Beast:
Apex Predator
There are perks to what Camila has become, and one of those is becoming overall much healthier and more athletic. Her body's capabilities have been pulled into a higher gear, focusing especially on her strength, reflexes, agility, and flexibility. She is built for climbing and for feats of acrobatics, befitting her connection to a powerful predatory cat, though her abilities are not out of the bounds of what is possible for a human, just a higher tier than they used to be.
Camila is always at the peak of physical fitness, no longer needing to work out or watch her eating habits, and it is incredibly difficult for her to become ill, her biology seeming to just chew up and spit out any kind of disease that is not explicitly magical in nature. Poisons and drugs, while not something she is outright immune to, take higher doses to have any discernible effect on her body. She heals well and heals quickly, but still at a rate expected of an extremely healthy human rather than more.
Camila will also live longer than a human, and retain her youth for much longer. If nothing cuts her life short, she could potentially live to be two hundred years old and not show any significant signs of aging beyond her twenties-ish appearance until roughly a hundred or so.
Lunacy
Camila's breed of were-creature are not forced to transform under the full moon, but it does affect them. The closer to the full moon, the wilder she gets; she finds it harder to sleep, harder to sit still, and much harder to shake off any impulsive urge she may feel. The little voice telling her that what she's gotten into her head is a bad idea sounds so much further away during these times, replaced by an inner beast's urging, making her more aggressive, more intense, overall more fierce and primal in her actions and desires.
Needless to say, Camila is more dangerous when like this, though whether she's more a danger to others or herself is up for debate. None of this enhances her abilities, though she'll swear that her senses feel sharper and that she feels so much stronger when under the moon's influence. What it does do is temporarily break down some of Camila's mental defenses, making her mind more easy to manipulate; on the full moon, she finds it hard to distinguish whether thoughts and feelings are coming from herself or an outside source, and any magical suggestion to think or feel a certain way is more intense and persuasive.
While these defenses do build back up after the full moon passes, giving her an average person's chance to shake off any lingering effects after the fact, that doesn't erase how vulnerable she is in the moment and how much trouble that could get her in. Which makes it all the worse that she's inclined to perceive herself as invincible during this time and not take precautions.
Share The Mark
Camila has the ability to turn other people into werecats. This is not something that can be done accidentally, and Camila will never transform someone without true intent to do so. Along with intent, she must leave some form of mark on the person she has chosen. A scratch or bite in her feline form, deep enough to leave a scar, is easiest, but some choose to give the person a tattoo or brand, and that will work as well.
Whatever the form of marking, it must be done on the full moon to take effect, and, once the person is marked, the mark can never be removed, even with magical healing. It can be covered by makeup or illusions, but will never truly fade, warp, or otherwise change. The only way for the person to rid themselves of it is if something of greater power rids them of their status as a werecat as well, either through reversion back to human or otherwise.
On that note, only full-blooded humans can be properly marked and transformed, and the change will usually destroy any magical abilities they may have had, or, at best, leave behind a barely-existing shadow of them. What feline form they gain upon being transformed is not dependent on Camila's, and could be any non-domestic, currently-existing species in the Felidae family.
While technically capable to marking someone without permission, this is a severely taboo thing to do. Personal disgust with the idea, illegality of the practice, and the threat of exile from her adoptive clan all mean that she will never transform a human without their explicit consent, even in the throes of her Lunacy.
Jaguar Form
Every member of her clan has a particular species they can become, and Camila's happens to be a jaguar. A melanistic jaguar, to be exact; her markings are still visible, but her base coat is so close to black that it requires close observation to distinguish them clearly. She's at the upper end of the species for size, but not supernaturally large, and there is nothing visual that would act as an immediate tip-off that she is anything other than a normal jaguar. She does, however, still have the scars on her shoulder that make up her Mark, which could clue in someone who has seen her in human form before.
Camila can transform at will, and it only takes a few seconds to do so. When in jaguar form, she possess all the physical abilities and the same range of senses as the real thing, and instantly has the body-awareness to move in this shape without trouble. She keeps her personality, no more animal-like in mindset than in her human form, though she is obviously still vulnerable to Lunacy. As this form is considered just as much her 'true' one as her original human one, she can maintain it for however long she likes without any extra drain to her energy, though switching back and forth in rapid succession could exhaust her quickly.
As clothing goes...Well, if she isn't already naked when she shifts, she's going to be very soon. Only her body changes, not any garments, which will be destroyed or simply left behind. The only exceptions are jewellery that make use of piercings; if she shifts with them in, her form will retain the holes required to keep them in. So, another way to potentially tell that the jaguar you've just seen is Camila is if it's running around with her earrings on.
Biography:
Under most circumstances, Camila could have easily gone her entire life without finding out about the supernatural world. Born human without even a single drop of magical or non-human blood in her veins, with no family connections to the world on the other side of Veil, the only aliens and monsters in her life came from Dungeons and Dragons and Star Trek. She didn't buy into the conspiracy theorists, the ghost hunters, and their ilk, never indulged the pursuits that could send her dangerously close to the fringes and risk seeing something.
No, Camila grew up with a dream that had little to do with the supernatural, except in the sense of portraying it on a stage or screen. She was going to be an actress, a decision she made young and clung to intensely as she grew up. As any Drama teacher who had the joy of having her their class would attest, she had the talent to back up that dream, too. Camila was fearless on a stage, charismatic and animated, making anything from minor roles to leading ones her own and encouraging other children to cut loose and embrace their own parts.
Of course, getting out of school and into the real world meant a lot of hard work, but she wasn't deterred. Some modelling here, a bit part there, other jobs to make up the difference, Camila won over hearts and clawed her way into the spotlight little by little. Eventually, she landed reoccurring role on a television show, playing a seductive, morally grey vampire character, and that started getting people talking. The show itself didn't last many seasons, and was regarded as cliche at best in its writing, but Camila sold the part, even the lines that should have been cringe-inducing, and fans were taking notice.
Including the wrong kind of fans.
The news would say that she was attacked by an obsessed stalker with a knife, and that would be accurate right up to the 'knife' part. It was decent a coverup, though, since the alternative would be to say that she'd been attacked by an escaped zoo animal, which would be harder to fake. She'd been at a friend's cabin at a lake, and stepped out during the evening for a little fresh air, admiring the bright, full moon visible in the sky. In hindsight, she might admit that she did look a lot like the people in the show did, right before becoming the victim of that episode's monster.
He hadn't let her see him as a human, instead stalking her in the form of a lion and charging out of the nearby trees to lunge at her and force her to the ground. Her screams alerted her host, who happened to own a hunting rifle, and the mad were-shifter turned and fled after the first bullet wounded him, leaving Camila with a set of slash marks on her shoulder. An ambulance was frantically called, and no one noticed the fact the fleeing big cat had what looked like a brand between his shoulder blades.
In the hospital, it became clear that her troubles were only starting. Camila's wounds were treated, but she was feverish and delirious, despite no sign of any detectable infection. For an entire day, she floated in and out of consciousness until the nearly-full moon was in the sky again, and she opened her eyes to reveal the yellow irises she had now, matched with sharp fangs.
Luckily, someone was there waiting there for her. A young woman she had never met before, with eyes like hers, looking at her with an expression more deeply apologetic than any Camila had ever seen. She came offering an explanation, and a set of earrings that would hide these new features from the world. She was the sister of the man who had attacked her in the form of a lion, or, rather, ex-sister, as he'd been disowned as soon as the proper authorities had revealed his actions while arresting him. Now, she was Camila's sister, if she would allow the clan to take her in.
As terrifying as that night, and the changes afterward, had been, Camila will always claim how happy she is at having had the Veil lifted to allow her to see the world as it really is. Following her new clan to Manta Carlos, she thrived, soon landing her first big movie role. She played the part of the black panther companion of the main character of said movie, a woman who could talk to animals, and proved that her charisma on camera also carried over to her feline form; in the version shown to normies, she was still credited, but only as the voiceover doing the big cat's lines.
That role was the first of many, and Camila has proven herself to be leading lady material, though she's still happy to do smaller parts as long as it's something she can have fun with and make her own. As someone who makes her non-human nature work for her in her career of choice, her Manta Carlos fanbase is steadily growing, and Camila is loving it.
