My character Ysolda Drakenhardt is new to the island and suffers from a bad case of living as sheltered royalty for all her life this far. To that end, I need to break her down a bit. What I need to do this is:

  • A rival. Someone outside of her clan, close to her age, and preferably see someone who didn't have the benefit of being trained by someone on the same level as Grandpa Drskenhardt (spoiler alert: he a sturdy boi). I want this person to fight her and thoroughly kick her ass. Humble her. This relationship can end up being a friendly sort of competitiveness or full on antagonistic. I don't mind either. We can discuss specifics as we go.
  • A love interest. Gender doesn't matter, and I'm not sure if it should strive to be something long term or not. There needs to be a level of tension in the relationship. I'm up for really any kind of tension, and we can discuss the nature of the tension and possible outcomes.
  • Someone to make her stand out. Right now, Ysolda is more or less convinced that the most important thing about her is her family name. Her own skills, knowledge, hobbies, etc. come second to the fact that she's a Drakenhardt. She needs to be dragged away from that. A friend or mentor of some kind to make her stand on her own, out of the shadow of her family.
These are the primary things I'm looking for, but I'm willing to discuss other potential ideas. I will note here as well, this isn't first come, first served. You need to kind of explain your idea of why you think your character would be a good fit for the role.

I got two candidates for rival. Firstly there's Ater who has similar and opposite qualities in the way that he (at least outwardly) is overconfident in his abilities, and yet he has a much more fiery attitude overall. And also uses fire. He is also the type to want to put someone in their place if they start acting all high and mighty.

The second one I had in mind, Devias is a more calmer sort who shares a cold outwardness, but this is mostly due to him unable to be expressive. Leaning heavily on to the intellectual side of things, he isn't physically strong, but he does excel in the use of two types of magic, ice and void, the latter of which allows for portals which can be used to annoy her or use her own magic projectiles against her.

Both of the above could go towards a love interest, but it would depend on how the first interaction goes.

As for someone to help her stand out... well I could toss in Locke, who lived so many lives that he could churn out a nugget of wisdom now and again, and also possibly help with anything related to physical fights if she ever needs it.

But if ever she goes through a phase where she starts questioning things she believed in, Aliasse could empathize and help her though that transition.

I would like to offer my characters Diam and Jessabelle Theada.

Jess would be able to fit into any of the roles, though I think I like her best as either Rival or Love interest. She would have a curtain level of combative ability, and her paranoia would be good for creating tension in either situation. She also has the double life angle where one fits into circles Ysolda would frequent, and then also finds her way around a more modern party scene, so that would be interesting.

Conversely, I like Diam as a mentor best. He's very old and knowledgeable, and could potentially recognize the Drakenhardt name without viewing Ysolda as something more then an ordinary person, which would probably be an interesting experience for her.

So yeah. :3

I could offer you Natasha in some friendship capacity - she's used to royalty because she was a laid-in-waiting/courtesan for Catherine the Great when she was human. Then, there's actually, Noel - my god of the Winter Solstice, he is quite calm and relaxed, might be an interesting choice as maybe a mentor/make her feel good about herself guy.
