So, I've decided that Desdemona, nightmare demigoddess and college freshman, is clearly a character who is in need of a roommate.
But not just any roommate. No, I want to subject Des to someone who is, by surface traits at least, her opposite. Bright. Colourful. Extroverted. Animated. Downright perky, even. A real life morning person who doesn't require copious amounts of caffeine to function. A big old ray of sunshine, preferably with some kind of pretty, sparkly powers to match, or at least powers that would be recognized by the average person as something positive. Someone who Des would have never seen herself hanging out with before, and yet is now right here, an inescapable part of her daily routine.
That said, I'm mostly aiming for an opposites attract angle, not a driving-each-other-up-the-wall one (well, okay, maybe a little bit of that). Not necessarily romantic, but someone who Desdemona can open up to and depend on. Being in such close proximity makes them a prime target for accidental use of her nightmare powers, or catching her crying in the middle of the night, giving them the opportunity to see a side of her that she's still fighting to hide.
