Sorcha walked down the hall of neglected classrooms on the third floor. It always amazed her that in this one building there could be such disparity between the floors. Down on the first floor there was noise, activity, laughter and learning, but here on this forgotten floor there was dirt, broken furniture, silence and a sense of something that she could only call waiting.
She entered one of the dorm rooms, sat on the dusty bed and leaned back against the wall. She looked around and wondered if the school would let her clean this up and stay here instead. She had already scouted around and knew there was enough room to practice using her powers safely.
She heard someone shouting for a fellow student to "wait up" and was glad that they were not talking to her. She hated the small talk she was supposed to make, the everyday conversation got on her nerves. She closed her eyes and tried to examine this feeling that was rolling through her, she detested her emotions, they were so messy but most of all they were unpredictable. She turned her thoughts further inward ignoring her surroundings, and all she got for her inner turmoil was the realization that like the empty rooms, she felt like she was waiting....
