I've decided to develop the Vox Somni species a little further! These will apply to Aimouryllice a'Phoche as well as any future Vox Somni.
Lateral Line - A system of sense organs; a line of pores along each side of the body that detect pressure, vibrations, and movement in the water (functions like a normal lateral line). When the lateral line rubs against clothing or otherwise blocked, it throws off a Vox’s sense of direction and awareness of things and people around them, severely disorienting them until they can acclimate. Not magic or special in any way; it’s literally just a normal lateral line
Collapsible Dorsal Fin - A fin on the back that functions as a normal dorsal fin; can be flattened against the back and extended again at will
Webbed Toes - Like webbed feet in any species that has them
Split Mouth - while Vox Somni mouths may appear small, they’re able to split them from ear to ear. c → (
Minor Enhanced Vision in the Dark - Vox Somni have evolved to see better in low-light conditions than humans, but they still can’t see in total/near-total darkness.
Speedy Swimmers - While they’re speedy on land, they’re even more so in their natural environment. They can zip through the water and change direction at the drop of a hat. Unless you’re another sea-born creature, good luck beating them in a swimming race.
Powerful Legs - They’re constantly using their legs to propel them through the water; because of this constant utilization, their legs are quite strong (though not supernaturally so).
Specifically for Aimouryllice:
Her facial fins are getting an upgrade! No longer baby dumb fins; they will now be larger and more noticeable but still serve no magical purpose

Ovoviviparous - Vox Somni produce young by means of eggs, but the eggs are kept and hatched inside their body, leading to a live-birth; however, the eggs can be laid before birth, which is the most popular route for Vox Somni whose bodies are too small or otherwise unable to handle eggs.
Inter-breeding - They can breed with any subspecies of their race as well as most humanoids.
