Adelaida took the lead, hailing a cab for speed to take them to the beachside, where her house was. It wasn't a long trip, even walking, so it took no more than a handful of minutes to get there.

She rolled up the garage door, revealing the arcane workshop inside. There was an array of crystals inserted into intricate runic circles painted onto the walls and the floor with magical pigments. Shelves of various books, curios and other minutiae stood at the wall, nestled alongside a printer.

"Welcome to my little shop. As you can see, it's fully prepared. Just needs a few more tweaks,"
she said, getting to work altering the circles in place.

During the ride, Bastet was silent and seemingly nodding off, her body unnaturally cold for a human, but anyone who has seen heard her interactions with some people before would know well enough that she is just cold-blooded.

But once at Adelaida's place, she was rather quick to take a look around. Of course being cautious not to botch anything, to not touch anything. "I see. A lot of material, eh? I normally don't have a lot of material myself, although my deal is more of repairing stuff and working on my bike.", she eyed the spines of books to see if any had a familiar title.

Adelaida got to work, modifying the array of runic circles painted into the workshop to cut off the portion of the sealing spell that included the control clause. Michi had to use that clause to gain control of her entity, but seeing as this woman wanted a merger... it had to be changed.

"Just don't touch the painted stuff. Everything else, feel free to take a look. I'll just be a few minutes to touch up the circle, and then a while longer to let it dry," Adelaida said, even though majority of the books were just grimoire collections of spells that she'd written herself.

The room was thick with the scent of magical plantlife, and all sorts of odd vapors. She closed the door again, revealing yet another circle with some gems inlaid in its center. This was the failsafe, and Adelaida made sure not to explain what it was for... after all, finding out about a kill switch might discourage her customer.

"I'm not planning on touching anything unless told to, anyways... I've always veered towards caution since my first time with Orochi. Lucky me they liked my guts." Looking at the circle on the door after Adelaida closed, Bastet felt like asking "And that one is for...?"

"Protection. It's in case something goes wrong," Adelaida said, shrugging off the question. It wasn't technically a lie, but the actual specifics of how it went about protecting everyone were a little less savory.

Adelaida finished up her little paint job and went to the shelves to grab a bottle of specially-made incense. She put one finger on the stoppper. "Do you want me to explain what you have to do, or are you still taking the tour?"

"Protection, huh?", Bastet believed as much, and didn't prod much into the subject. After all, that was a convincing enough answer... "You can explain, I have sated my curiosity enough already, Adelaida.", she wasn't afraid nor anything, not on the outside at least, Bastet held onto her confidence.

Adelaida liked it when people didn't ask too many uncomfortable questions. And besides, she hadn't lied yet.

Adelaida gently tugged on Bastet, pulling her to the center of the circle painted on the ground. "All you have to do is sit here next to the crystal and channel your mana into it, following the pattern. It will begin an isolation process where your soul and everything attached to it will separate temporarily. You'll need to keep track of what's what. It'll be like seeing tiny lights in your mind in different colors."

She gestured to the second layer of circle, connected by a few lines of paint to the innermost portion. "Once they've separated, you'll need to do the same for the second layer of circle, while mentally designating the essences you want to partially seal. You'll have to focus on these essences for around ten minutes while the seal forms, and I do not have to explain how crucial it is that you keep focus because if you screw up you might accidentally seal off your own soul. That being bad should be obvious enough."

Then she turned her attention to the outermost portion of the painted circle. "Once that's over, you do the same for the third circle, which is the one that merges everything back together. This one's a lot easier and should take no more than five minutes."

"Got all that? It's all a matter of focus,"
Adelaida said, setting fire to a stick of magical incense. It would help the process go smoothly, but... everything was up to Bastet's will now.

Despite the obvious risks implied, Bastet just remained calm. If she had to fear anything she wouldn't have taken the deal to begin, right? "Shouldn't be too hard. When absorbing them, they had a distinct light each.", Bastet took a deep breath without needing to, "Let's begin then..." and soon she took her place next to the crystal in a lotus position.

As the essences began to separate, they assumed distinct tints: white, blood red, light green, pitch black with a faint glow to it. They all actually left her body for a moment, and the light green one was surely the human one: feeble, small... And this feeble one was the one that a cat eyed from Adelaida's shadow.

There were quite a few more entities in Bastet than Adelaida expected. Thankfully, the spell she built was a one-size-fits-all matter, meant to function whether there was one or one hundred entities in there.

"So far, so good,"
Adelaida said, observing the process. She was gently fanning the incense that helped improve mana flow, and checked for any last minute kinks in the circles. But everything was in place.

"Now we'll see how strong your will is,"
expecting the pain to start soon. The soul and its components were never meant to be without vessel, and though not close to having it burned, having it temporarily removed would still, in her own words from before, "hurt like fuck."

Bastet wasn't quite prepared for the pain, it was quite the shock, her muscles tensed, her teeth gritted. The black essence then started to react, sprouting multiple serpent heads as shadowy as itself, and each of its head cheered her on, each one displaying a different personality despite looking the same.

And then... Bastet was once again still, but the dark essence continued to observe her, now immersed in silence.
