Adelaida was in the shop again today. She didn't have a shift - and she'd actually been taking less and less shifts recently now that business was picking up in her outsourcing work - but she still liked showing up here to interact with people. Manta Carlos was an oddity where people were actually open to interaction with strangers.

She cased the joint for a bit before ordering her usual ice cream float and walking around, to see who was open to being disturbed.

It took a bit of observance, but she did find someone who seemed to fit the bill. A young woman, alone, and subtly troubled over something - and Adelaida could vaguely smell a kindred spirit on her.

"Rough day?" she said without preamble, welcoming herself to the table.

It sure had been a rough day for Bastet, and to make it worse she had no clue on who to talk to. That is, until someone approached instead. She was lucky, so Bastet thought. Lifting heavy eyes to meet up with Adelaida's, she began to open up: "Rough day is a bit of understatement. I think that in a moment of weakness the legendary essences I hold within me started to go rampant. Two of them anyways. The Orochi ones are well-mannered... And worried."

Chalk it up to Manta Carlos being the kind of place where someone could consider dealing with deity-level essences as a mere spot of trouble. Or talk about having them as if it were having dogs.

Were she anywhere else, Adelaida would have dismissed this talk of essences within running rampant as just idle fantasy, but here on this island, the odds of them being true were great.

"Welcome to the club. You still got you in you at least, so it's probably not that bad yet."

"It wouldn't be so bad if I could just talk with them, like I can with Orochi. But I fear if I can't find a way to control Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi soon, they might try to overthrow Orochi and then attempt to overthrow one another. Imagine waking up and accidentally making a light grenade while stretching, or trying to make some coffee and accidentally setting of a darkness flare.", Bastet gave one long sigh, "And I don't know what to do to stop them from doing that."

Perhaps some higher power had brought her here, Adelaida thought, considering how by sheer coincidence she ran into someone who just so happened to be in dire need of her skills. She didn't quite like the thought that her actions weren't her own, and frowned at the idea, but soon enough let it go.

"Funny you mention that. I've dealt with that sort of thing twice at this point. You've either got someone powerful looking after you bringing me here - and I don't like that idea at all - so I'm going to assume you're just divinely lucky."

She raised one finger, and let it be covered with flames, changing colors from orange to red to blue and to green, and then let the flame die down. "You've got a sun god. I've got an entire dimension of flame."

Twice?! Bastet's curiosity piqued up real fast and she straightened herself with a very distinct look of curiosity. "Coincidence certainly. Wouldn't be surprised if it is my luck either.", she brought up her phone to show her virtually drawn fortune, which was "Blessing". And once Adelaida showed her flames, Bastet leaned in, still cautious, but it was clear that she was enjoying the warmth.

"Excuse me, an ENTIRE dimension? That's insane! As for me, well... Lemme show the troublemakers... This is Tsukuyomi.", she then produced a flare round, black like the night, with an eerie red glow. And after loading it in her flare gun, she shot it upwards towards the sun. It ascended, ascended... Then burst into a cloud of darkness, blotting out the sun. However a brief look away from the umbra, or even within the umbra itself, would reveal the sun was still shining everywhere else.

"And this is Amaterasu. I won't let it blow up though, I don't know if it could harm you.", she made a small orb of light, glowing with divine sunlight and warmth, no bigger than a baseball yet gave them plenty of its light and warmth. It was soon that the cloud of darkness began to thin and the sun shone through once more, and the ball of light she created flickered out of existence.

"Twice, yeah. Once myself, and I'm actually helping out a student of mine deal with hers. You see, both of us played with powers beyond us and now we're working the consequences out. For me, I lost a lot, but I'm on track to get it back within the next two years. And for her, well... she knows a lot of magic now and has control after our little lessons," Adelaida said, half-bragging. She was confident in both of these statements, and extremely proud of her student, who'd overcome great odds with supreme talent under her tutelage.

As for the dimensions, well... "It goes by the name of the Living Flame. Not really a god. Just imagine an endless fire, hot and magical enough that nothing else can exist where it is... and I have an infinitely small portion of it under my command."

She took a look at the two little balls of light and darkness. "Shinto. Not surprised to see them here. Much more common here compared to the outside. I prefer dealing with unthinking entities like the Living Flame... much easier to control."

"That's quite the feat... I had none teach me how to use Legendary Essences, I just used them through Benkei's, then accidentally shattered Benkei and, to keep Amaterasu from straying, absorbed it within myself. Ever since I can just absorb them. Except Gacha.", as if on cue, Bastet's words were followed by a meowing from under the table, before a black cat peeked over the table from their comfortable position on Bastet's lap. But the cat SURELY hadn't been there before.

"Gacha is independent, dunno how she came to be, seems to be the Essence of Bast. I'm not sure how I'd feel about unthinking entities... I mean: Tsukiyomi and Amaterasu's essences can't interact with me the same way Orochi and Gacha can, so they don't know how much they "hurt" me like this...", and soon after she said that, a new voice joined them, coming from a nearby bush: "It is because their essences weren't forcibly taken from them, I will guess. Therefore they just carry their prime instinct. But then there's Gacha, which is still a living enigma."

A large serpent woven from the soil itself poked its head between the blades of grass, with Bastet briefly questioning "Oroichi?", to which it responded "Orosan."

A cat. Well, a comforting form to take at least. Adelaida had no such options - it was either burn or no burn. And a snake.

"Well... if you ever want them bent to your will, I'm all yours to hire... I've done seals, summons, contracts, all the works," Adelaida said, leaning in over her float. "All it's worth is a favor I'll cash in sometime in the next two years."

She wasn't lying. She'd handled her own case in the past and bent the unquenchable and unbendable to her will, and she'd gotten even more practice recently thanks to her student. "And you're dealing with less destructive forces than I've worked with, so it's safer than I'd like to admit."

Without giving room for Adelaida to even think about the other possibility, Bastet simply said "Name your price. I'll have it covered, even if I have to prostrate before my ex-boss to borrow some money.", with a conviction that was almost surprising, "We have to assume the power doesn't overload somehow, I'd hate for either coat everything in darkness or dissolve everything Amaterasu deems "evil". After all, there are good demons and nice undead among us."

"They are less destructive because they don't have a way to grow without related Essences. Amaterasu would need Apollo and Ra to enhance its power, and Tsukuyomi would need Artemis and Khonsu. Hm...", the serpent took his tail's tip to his chin, "This is a mere guess, but if she avoids contact with avatars of Sun and Moon, she should be partially safe. Which again, leaves us to rely on you. If sis believes on you, so will the eigh of us Orochi Siblings. Speaking of, my name is Orosan, the third of the siblings."

"Ah, a-and I'm Bastet.", Bastet felt quite embarrassed for having forgotten to introduce herself after going for so long about her problem.
