It was always a safe bet when Havoc went looking for Seiken that he'd be in the cafeteria. Seiken ate a lot, and Havoc was fairly sure that his most significant hobby was eating.

It was almost on the level of a sport, the way Seiken did it.

Any time Havoc went looking for the large man, he started in the cafeteria, and most of the time he found him right away. That day was no different, and he spotted Seiken on the far side of the cafeteria, stopping to get his own food before heading over to join him. He was alone, which wasn't all that unusual, but that was also part of the reason that Havoc and Seiken got along so well--while they were very different people, they were also fairly isolated.

While he couldn't have said if Seiken liked it that way, Havoc certainly did. He had no interest in maintaining a large circle of friends, and was perfectly happy with just one or two. At the moment, Seiken was more or less enough for him, and he was perfectly happy with that.

"Did you see the cruise next month?" Havoc asked, completely ignoring the fact that you usually started a conversation with a greeting as he took a seat.

Seiken was sitting at a table alone, and there was reasoning for that. First, he hated most people.

Second, he had made it clear that though he wasn't the most awkward to approach individual anymore, the basketball "star" was still grumpy- and preferred his space. People gave it to him due to that (though being a nearly eight foot intimidating monster probably helped).

Finally, third- the fact he was taking up most of the table by himself. The reason for this was because he had three trays of food- each tray stacked with steaks, chicken breast, pork chops, everything from racks of ribs to chicken livers and frog legs. If it was meat- it was on his plates. Every time his maw opened, the mouth lined with countless teeth glinting in the air, as their razorlike tips caught the light- someone glanced over.

Some turned green watching the way he just .. ate. He didn't stop. Chicken legs, bones and all, crunched to nothing in his jaw and swallowed. Steaks that usually people cut apart and took thirty minutes to eat, his claws cut in half, and two bites later it was gone. He didn't bother with utensils, his hands were too damn big and his claws made it difficult, even sheathed.

However, he caught a familiar scent- Havoc, his nose twitching as he glanced around before the man sat down suddenly in front of him. Blinking, he tilted his head- swallowing the mouthful of chicken, bone, and half a rack of ribs with several crunches before he responded. Not put off at all by Havoc's forward personality and communication skills.

"Cruise ..? No. Not really something I'd wanna do- way to much travelin- .." he halted, contemplating something suddenly. "Emily may like it though .. hn .."

Havoc had seen a lot of things, and for the most part, he was very hard to bother. He simply didn't care that Seiken was shovelling enough food into his mouth to feed a small country, and the fact that Seiken's teeth were so distinctly inhuman only registered to him in terms of I should not put my hand near that.

"Emily?" Havoc asked, shoving one of Seiken's trays to the side so that he could put his own down. His own food was significantly more modest, a reasonably large plate that suited someone who was doing a lot of physical activity. Havoc found he burned a lot of energy practicing with his flames, and while he wasn't nearly as physical as he'd been in the army, he seemed to be burn the same number of calories.

"Someone from the basketball team?" He asked. He knew Seiken was on there, but he'd never paid much attention beyond that. Group sports like that were not for him, although he had considered looking into clubs a bit.

Seiken tilted his head, not bothered by the shove- if someone else had done it they may lose a hand. You don't touch an animals food. But, Havoc and Emily were allowed- he didn't even bat an eye as he simply popped a chicken wing, bone and all in his mouth, munching and thinking on the cruise.

He blinked, however, as Havoc brought up the basketball team. He slowly frowned, swallowing once more before speaking. "Oh, right .. I never told you. I only joined the team because my girlfriend asked me to, Emily Strong." he explained simply as if it was the most casual thing in the world- despite the fact he had joined the team nearly three weeks ago.

With that he leaned back- she didn't actually like things like that, she'd probably rather stay home and play her video games in his lap. Now that he really thought about it. He had no desire to spend that much time with her "mask". Though, she may go just to make an appearance he supposed .. how annoying.

Havoc squinted. Seiken was tall, which required him to lean his head back at a very sharp angle, but he squinted anyway.

Girlfriend.

Politically correct or not, Havoc had sort of expected that Seiken was more likely to rut with a horse or some other massive animal than to have a sentient girlfriend, but then he had no idea who Emily Strong was. The possibility certainly existed that Emily Strong was just as large as Seiken was, and that they were a match made in heaven.

He wasn't betting on that. He was almost entirely sure he'd have noticed a woman walking around that was more than seven feet tall, and he definitely had not.

"When did you get a girlfriend?" He asked, slightly confused. How had he missed that? More than that, how did it make any sense? He couldn't put 'Seiken' and 'girlfriend' together in the same sentence. They were from two completely different worlds, never to meet.

Seiken tilted his head as his friend squinted up at him, "Wut?" he asked through a mouthful of meat as he blinked a few times in confusion. Slowly, he swallowed as the man clarified what he was curious about apparently and he shrugged.

"Hnn .. like a month ago? Or something like that," he commented idly, frowning as he tried to count the days- it was harder than he thought it'd be. Likely because he didn't really give a shit- it was just a day they started to "go out" under her silly pretense. They had been mates before that, and he had certainly clarified their relationship since it was far deeper than "dating".

He shrugged lightly, "A few days after I joined the Basketball team, but we were technically together before that," he stated with a nod- keeping it low so no one else heard. "Eh, don't' spread that around though or she'll get puffed up and I'll have to deal with it later," he commented idly. He could put her in her place easily enough- but he'd rather not have to deal with a feisty kitten later.

Havoc was a man of few emotions, but at that moment his only emotion was confusion.

Dating. Seiken was dating? Did Seiken even understand what dating meant?

No, Havoc decided. Seiken definitely did not know what dating meant.

"Seiken," he said, his voice serious. "What do you do on the average date?"

It was a test. A very blatant test, but a test just the same. Seiken had struggled very blatantly with social standards. Havoc didn't really struggle with the same things, but instead opted to ignore them. He understood them, and he was fairly sure--or had been fairly sure, up until the moment Seiken dropped the bomb on him--that Seiken didn't.

"We don't go on many anymore .. usually she just comes to my house, or I come to her dorm .." he pondered idly, before blinking- realizing he didn't answer the question.

"But the few I took her too was usually dinner, a movie, we went to an-" he halted himself, and lowered his voice. "-arcade, despite no one knowing that one. Uuuh .." he trailed off, raising a finger.

"The rest were pretty similar .. I just asked my team-mates what "boyfriends" usually did and went with it .. it wasn't that hard. Boring, though. I'm glad we stopped .. the food I cook is better than most restaurants anyway." he commented the last bit with a bit of a shrug, before he popped a bite of food into his mouth.

It was more comfortable to actually just laze around the house with her in his arms or lap anyway- plus it made it easier to expand their "activities" on a whim.

"Why?" he asked with a puzzled expression, not having caught on that it was a "test". His slow-mindedness when it came to caring about things showing as per usual.

Havoc often didn't get emotional things, and dating was most definitely an emotional thing. In a way, he'd let himself believe that Seiken was the same way, even though all the evidence had indicated the opposite. Seiken felt emotions. Seiken felt emotions too strongly. They were hardly twins, and in many ways they were the exact opposite, the farthest possible edges of a spectrum where most people rested firmly in the middle.

Havoc did not get angry. Seiken got angry all the time. Havoc did not get aggressive. Seiken was aggressive all the time.

In a lot of ways, Havoc felt abruptly out of his depth, his image of Seiken having taken a sledgehammer blow. It didn't make sense, and Havoc sat in silence for a long moment, his food firmly ignored as he tried to figure out an answer to Seiken's question.

Finally, he opted for the truth as he saw it.

"I thought that you'd have absolutely no interest in dating the way a human would."

Seiken blinked, and then frowned. That hurt, a bit. Not much though- because he understood where the thought process was coming from. He reached over slowly and took a bite of food once more, debating the best way to explain it.

Eventually, several bites later as he debated- he would come to a general conclusion.

"I don't." he finally stated, looking down at his friend with a shrug, "But I do at the same time. It's .. sort of both, with her. I think that's why. She's probably the only person that can handle the animal side of me, just as much as the human side." he murmured lightly, before shrugging as he took another bite- hoping that helped his friend understand that this was not just "random dating".

It was a mate, a mate he had found that appealed to his animal instincts- as well as his human emotions that were so firmly led by those animal instincts.
