A waitress soon came and asked what they wanted to drink. "We have coffee, tea, juice, milk, water..."

Missing what she had said because she had been looking at her menu, Scarlet looked up and frowned, catching only 'water'. Looking at Ivan, she said with her mind, [color=33ff99]What did she say?[/color]

Smiling thanks to her husband, she turned to the waitress and said, [color=33ff99]"Apple juice, please."[/color] She went back to her menu and soon had picked out French toast, with side orders of bacon, eggs and sausage. When she looked up to tell Ivan what she had decided to order, the waitress was back with their drinks.

Scarlet softly kicked Ivan under the table, then gave an innocent look. The waitress finished taking their orders and then bustled off. Remembering the slightly confused look Ivan had had on his face a bit ago, Scarlet decided to just tell him. [color=33ff99]"I'm deaf, Ivan. I can't hear anything unless someone's screaming, and even then it's like a small squeak."[/color] She wondered how he would respond.

Scarlet shook her head at his apology. It didn't matter. As long as it didn't change the way he felt about her, she didn't care. Smiling at him, she ducked her head for a moment, then started when a steaming plate of food was set down under her nose. Slowly she grabbed the bottle of syrup and poured it over the French toast, then took a bite.

Scarlet soon had the toast eaten and moved to her eggs. She took the bacon and broke it into pieces, then mixed it in with her eggs.

She was totally blind to the fact that someone was now in their car.
