Scarlet crept noiselessly into the forest. Well, there seemed to be no noise as she stepped along, but that might be because she couldn't hear. But she could never be sure.

Scarlet finally sat down on the cold hard ground beside a tree and rested her head against the trunk. The images tried to invade her thoughts and emcompass her, but she forced them back, just as she had been doing ever since the horrid death of her parents.

Sighing, she took the drawing pad out from where it had been tightly secured under her arm and then pulled a drawing pencil from behind her ear. She began to scetch a pair of rabbits that were fighting each other.

Ivan silently observed this woman. After some time, he acquired the rare interest to speak to her. He morphed himself into a black rabbit. After double-checking his success, he hopped over to sit beside her and watch her draw.

Scarlet saw movement from the side of her vision and looked down. What she saw shpocked her for a moment, but only a moment. A small black rabbit was aparently watching her draw quite intently. She smiled at it and immediately began to scetch it instead of the others.

"You're a cute thing," she commented softly with her mind. "Very beautiful fur." Subconsciously she reached outto stroke it.

Ivan's eyes flashed with glee. His tranformation was a success! As he was stroked, Ivan shut his eyes. This woman seemed to have a calming effect on him. His rabbit nose twitched, shaking his whiskers.

As the rabbit's nose twitched, its whiskers tickled Scarlet's hand and she laughed quietly. Unconsciously as she drew, her mind telepathed remarks about the trees and plants around them.

Once she was finished with the drawing, Scarlet tilted it to the rabbit as if she knew it knew what it was--though she didn't know. "Like it?" She telepathed to it.

Ivan blinked twice. Apparently this woman possessed a great deal of talent. Answering the question regarding whether or not he liked the picture, he nodded. He wondered how long it would take her to figure out that he was a human with the power to change shape. Once he had remained in the form of a cat for six weeks before turning back into a human and leaving the house of the old lady that had taken him in. That was the 'run away from home' phase that kids often went through when their arents anger them. Being a cat for so long got boring after a while, so when the time came for him to take his punishment, he didn't mind. Ivan leaned back onto his hind legs and scratched an ear with his right forepaw.

Scarlet watched the rabbit for another quick moment before gasping. One, did real rabbits sratch themselves like that? Were they smart enough? And two, how in the world could it understand what she had been saying and actually answer?

Unless, of course, Scarlet could communicate with animals. No, not possible. For once she had tried talking to a dog and it didn't respond in any way besides lifting its hind leg and peeing on her.

No, this had to be....Naw, not possible. She thought. "Speak to me," She verbally commanded in her soft voice. Her voice came out slightly odd since she had grown up not hearing her voice, but the words were perfectly understandable.

Ivan blinked again. Had he been found out already? She had ordered him to speak, but would she dismiss the thought if he acted like an ordinary rabbit? Probably, but he chose to talk anyway. "You are very intelligent." He pointed out.

Scarlet gasped in surprise. It had been a long shot guessing the rabbit was actually a human, and she had thought it was just her imagination running wild with that thought. But obviously not.

Scarlet smiled slowly. "Thank you, but not really. If anything, you are more so because you can shapeshift. I can only talk with my mind," she said wth her mind.

Ivan shifted once more, this time changing back into himself. He reached into one of the pockets on his black leather jacket and got his glasses. They were designed for the wearer to look over rather than through them, as they were just for looks. Ivan shook his head, his glasses shining in the sunlight. "Special powers aren't what make a person smart. They just make a person unique. Powers don't neccesarily make a person a notch above all of the rest, either." Ivan showed one of his rare grins. "I think speaking with your mind is pretty cool. I know for sure that there are millions of people who would give both arms and a leg for that power." Ivan sat down next to her. "You have a real talent for drawing, you know? I'm one of those people who just can't. I'd love to be able to draw like you."
