Scarlet woke and gasped, remembering what had happened and who she had seen. She quickly sat up, then regretfully waited for her head to stop spinning. Your fault. After her vision came back, Scarlet looked around and couldn't see Ivan. She became scared. Where am I? She bit her lip.

"Ah. You're awake." Ivan leapt down from the rooftop, gracefully landing on one foot before bringing down the other. "You had me worried for a moment." Ivan's tail wrapped around one of his legs.

At first Scarlet didn't recognize who it was, but then she lunged at Ivan, wrapping her arms around him, fur and all. She began to sob. "G-Get me out of town, I-Ivan. P-please."

Ivan didn't quite understand, but he obeyed. He lifted Scarlet, one hand under her legs and the other across her back. "Hold on." He said before launching himself into the air, running swiftly across rooftops on his way out of town.

Scarlet stopped crying on their flight--for she had buried her emotions deep inside her--but kept her face buried against Ivan's chest. One, there was no way Scarlet wanted that man seeing her face. She had thought to be rid of the man, but obviously not. And two, Scarlet didn't want to risk barfing, for she was terrifyingly afraid of heights.

Ivan's eyes narrowed. Scarlet was terrified, and at her bidding Ivan would make sure that the person responsible would be made to pay. What kind of monster would torment such a sweet woman? If she so desires, I'll hunt them down and let their blood flow. They'll regret ever messing with Scarlet; I'll make sure of it! Ivan now considered himself Scarlet's guardian. Another clearing was coming near. Ivan dropped from the rooftop. His fur turned yellow with black spots and he sprinted with inhuman speed.

Scarlet felt the air whip at her cheeks and clothing as the two sped by buildings and such. Everything was one big blur, she saw when she peaked open an eye, which she didn't mind at all.

After a minute she said, "You can stop now, Ivan."

Ivan initiated a screeching halt. He set Scarlet down and breathed heavily. His fur had gone back to normal and cat-ears were twitching. "Mind telling me what this is about?" Ivan asked after he cought his breath. "No matter what the problem is, I'm not backing out. I'm with you all the way."

Scarlet glanced away as she bit her lip hard enough to draw blood. She trusted Ivan, but she had only known him for one day and she didn't feel she trusted him quite enough to tell him yet. She wished she did, but trust wasn't something she could tell herself to do, it was aquired by all he did.

"I...I just can't tell you right now, Ivan. I'm sorry." Scarlet didn't bring her gaze up for fear of the anger or hurt she would see there.

Ivan sighed. "I understand. I suppose I can't expect you to just open up to me. Regardless, I'm with you all the way." As far as Ivan was conscerned, her enemy could be the President or the Army and he'd still be with her. "I can't leave you to fend for yourself knowing that there's a serious problem. You awakened a feeling I've never felt before, Scarlet, and for that I intend to guard you with my life. You're just that precious."
