It was a thing, or more like a complex, of Pon's to not curse. It was one thing his parents had been strict about, to not curse. At all or at least not needlessly. And Pon didn't want to curse at all. So when Alexis said the f-word again Pon couldn't help but glare at him a bit.
"Then why are you cursing? I don't see your blood on that wall."
Pon grumbled right back. Well, not that his blood looked anything like normal red blood did. His was glistening liquid gold.

Pon backed away again, when suddenly some water appeared floating in the air. He shot a look at Alexis, when he told Pon to wash the blood away. But Pon didn't trust this water, or Alexis, and so he crossed his arms tightly with a suspicious look in his eyes.
"It doesn't look like blood, no one will know."

Yet again, Pon didn't trust Alexis or his judgement, and as he turned his back and began leaving the alley Pon did a thing he had done many times before. He picked up the drowsy man on the ground, went ahead and tossed the man inside the nearest dumpster. Then he would leave the alley after Alexis and Riva, looking behind him once to make sure the man wasn't visible from the street. He wasn't.

Pon didn't leave immediately, and instead he looked between Alexis and Riva with an unreadable expression.
"You helped me. You can take my blood, or one of my scales. As payment."
Pon didn't need to explain why they were good as payment, if these two were wyverns they would be able to tell from Pon's aura, that any part of his body would be extremely expensive and get them a lot of money.

Alexis gave Pon the biggest eye roll he could. "Because I can. I don't got anyone to tell me I can't." And that was how he saw it. The school could tell him to go to class or to do this or that, but they weren't his parents. They couldn't tell him how to act in public- as long as he wasn't committing crimes... that they knew of.

The blood. Alexis had been eyeing it like it was the plague ever since he entered the alley. The shimmer of the gold, even the scent of it, made his senses go on high alert. He'd formed the water away from himself purposely to give him space from the bleeding.

"Look, whatever. If you don't want my help then you can go wander on your own. I'm not your parent and i'm not gonna force you to do sh- stuff," he grumbled in a dismissive but clearly annoyed and worried tone. The gold would surely draw a lot of attention too.

"Fucking hell. I said he could lie there," he sighed but didn't move to go pull the man back out. Instead he began walking out of the alley with Pon and Riva. "And no I don't want a piece of you- that's fucked up. I don't care how much your scales are worth- why the hell would I want you to pull yourself apart for me? I stepped in to stop you from being hurt." From the look of their clothes they definitely weren't rich at all. But no way was Alexis going to sell parts of this wyvern child. He'd rather fucking starve. Which... was not in any way what his parents would have done. Pon wasn't part of their clan so he didn't deserve protection in their eyes. Screw it. Alexis was going his own way now.

A way that unfortunately meant putting off his swim. "So. Are you hungry or something?" Alexis didn't seem super angry. Just not great at dealing with kids. And to be perfectly honest he didn't know what to do with Pon. If anything.

Alexis avoided saying the s-word, and Pon noted and slightly appreciated that. And if Alexis was still maintaining the water Pon would give it a glance, and in a very quick movement dunk the top of his head in the water, just enough to was off most of the blood. Pon ruffled his now wet hair and muttered a quiet thank you, looking away at the brick wall.

As they walked out of the alley Pon mostly ignored Alexis because he cursed, his parents had taught him people that cursed excessively weren't worth listening to. But when he turned down Pon's offer for a reward Pon just shrugged.
"It doesn't hurt me."
But if Alexis didn't want gems that could probably support him for the next 10 years then it was his loss.
Pon didn't look particularly wealthy either, his clothes were clearly hand-me-downs and his shoes were too big and looked like they were breaking apart. But Pon didn't want to sell parts of himself, his parents had told him to have pride and cherish himself. And so he did.

Was Pon hungry? Pon looked at Alexis and opened his mouth to say no, but his stomach growled pretty damn loudly at that moment. Pon hadn't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon and he felt it. Pon cleared his throat and looked down, not exactly embarrassed but feeling stupid.

Alexis definitely kept the water available for Pon, also using it kind of like a barrier between himself and that gold blood crap. Damn, that kid was literally a fortune and Alexis absolutely hated it. He didn't hate the kid, no, he hated every piece of shit that would see the gems or the gold and decide to pull him apart to get their riches. Alexis didn't like to admit it but he had a very protective streak in him. Which of late seemed oddly focused on protecting people around his cousin's age. There were the cat kids and now this little wyvern. Fucking hell, like he knew how to be nice and take care of people. Alexis grumbled to himself even though he knew he'd shown an ability to care for people. Not the time.

His profanity had slipped out without trying. He wasn't real good at censoring himself when he was feeling strongly about something and for whatever reason what he was saying didn't seem to sink in for the kid. "I don't give a...," he exhaled and paused to calm himself. "Even if it don't hurt, You don't pull yourself apart like that and if people ask you to they're garbage and don't deserve to share your air." He was angry. Determined and absolutely serious about this. And maybe kind of projecting a little.

Alexis let out his anger and couldn't help but laugh. The kid was totally going to deny it but his own stomach betrayed him. It seemed so familiar to Alexis, the way this kid was acting. He didn't move to touch the but he released the water behind them to splash to the ground and nodded for his cousin to follow. "We just saved you so you owe us. You have to come get something to eat with us and i'm paying. No arguing." His glare, while less angry and more determined, was focused squarely on Pon.

"I don't give anything to anyone who asks."
Pon said with a growl as anger flared a bit on his face, but disappeared quickly. In his Pon was the only one who had the right to offer a piece of himself to anyone, and anyone who went out of their way to demand or ask it was a bad person and Pon needed to get away from them. Though when Alexis talked about sharing air Pon rolled his eyes slightly, and put his hands in his pockets.
"Everyone on this planet shares the same air. I'm sharing air with them right now."
He simply said.

As Alexis laughed at him Pon frowned and now there was the slightest blush on his tanned cheeks, aside from where his burn scar was. Pon wasn't about to take this humiliation and was prepared to leave, but Alexis spoke again. And under his glare Pon felt like he was 5 again and dad told him to come inside to have dinner. Pon's frown disappeared, and he kicked a rock on the ground.
"...fine."
Pon muttered, and would just let Alexis lead the way.

Alexis rolled his eyes. Of course he didnt mean literally sharing the air but... there was nothing to gain by following it up.

At least the kid wasnt going around pulling himself apart for everyone who asked. That would have been a huge issue to fix.

Alexis hadn't been planning on taking no for an answer from the hungry child, and that probably had factored into how determined his glare had been. Even if Pon wanted nothing to do with the sort of two-person splinter clan going on they'd at least see the young wyvern fed decently.

Alexis led the way around the corner and down the street to a greasy diner. The kind of place that didnt look great from the outside but people in the know could count on delicious burgers or other simple fare. Excellent breakfast too, but Alexis wasnt a sit down breakfast kinda guy so he'd never been in there for that.

There was a couple booths open but Alexis led them all to one tucked back into a corner where he could see the door. And also be pretty close to the back exit should police come looking. He wasnt smart but he wasnt dumb either

Hunger wasn't anything new to Pon, he had had to suffer it countless times and it was basically a friend of his. But that didn't mean that he wanted to bear it, and when someone offered him free food Pon was inclined to accept. Especially since he was pretty sure Alexis wasn't going to do anything to him at this point. He seemed too dumb to be sneaky like that. And the wyvern in Pon knew he was inferior to Alexis and told him not to make him mad. So Pon followed along with Alexis and the younger girl wyvern, who Pon now looked at bit more as he walked behind the two. The two smelled similar, they were related.

Pon didn't pay any mind to how the diner looked, Pon wasn't picky by any definition of the word when it came to food. So he followed Alexis inside, though he hesitated a bit at the door, not wanting to just barge into surroundings he didn't know, surrounded by strangers. But the smell of food was an effective lure, and Pon stepped over the threshold.
Pon let Alexis and Riva take a seat first, and when he sat down he stayed at the very edge of the seat, ready to bolt at a moment's notice. He noticed that Alexis had picked this spot on purpose, the door was clearly visible and the back door was close.
"I want the cheapest meal."
Pon said before they even looked at the menu, he didn't want to owe Alexis and Riva anything extra, since they had already saved him and were feeding him.

The kid was ready to bolt any second. Alexis could tell easily enough from his body language. The tension in his body and the quick glances at everything. But Alexis didnt concern himself with that. Either he would stay and eat or he'd run- it was up to him.

He rolled his eyes at the request for the cheapest meal. Like it really mattered whether it was a couple dollars more. Well, actually it did matter to him since his funds were pretty limited. But he didn't need to tell Pon that.

"I think there's a kids menu but you look too old for that," he snorted and picked up a menu to glance through it. Not like he was looking for anything fancy either though.

"What should we call you anyway? I'm Alexis and she's Riva."

Then before they could really speak much more the waitress came by to ask what they wanted. Alexis and Riva both chose scrambled eggs and hashbrowns with a side of crispy bacon. No pancakes or waffles despite the offer of adding it on for only two dollars more. They still intended to go swimming after this. No need to eat too much now. Also they both knew their stipend from the school only went so far. Far better to catch fish while they swam for their lunch than spend more money there.

The way Alexis rolled his eyes irritated Pon just a bit, what was that attitude when Pon was trying to lessen the financial strain? Especially since Alexis and Riva really didn't seem like people with lots of money. Pon had developed an eye for that kind of stuff while pickpocketing to get his next meal.

"I don't care which menu I look. Food is food."
Pon didn't mind being called a kid, since he was one still. And in some places kids got stuff free or cheaper so Pon wanted to use that as long as he could. He did so here too, and looked at the kids menu. Sure, the portions were smaller, but Pon hadn't hit his growth spurt yet, and didn't have to eat as much. And so Pon decided to get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and sunny side up eggs with some cocoa, that was just a bit cheaper than Alexis' and Riva's meals.

"Pon."
Since Alexis had wanted his name Pon had just given his name. He was now satisfied, since he knew the names of the ones that had saved his butt. Alexis and Riva. Pon wondered where they were from, even considered asking, but the waitress came and Pon told her what he wanted. This was the part Pon hated, the waiting. He swung his legs a bit and bit at his nails, trying not to look straight into Alexis' or Riva's eyes.

Alexis didnt fight him on the menu thing. If he wanted to do things that way then fine. He and Riva shared a look and didnt say a word. They kinda liked this kid.

The waitress had interrupted them and Alexis felt like some lame snide to meet you Pon' well after the fact was pointless so he skipped it. It was Riva though who spoke up first after the waitress left them in silence. "So... what grade you in Pon?"

Her voice was slightly kinder than Alexis' but no less clear about who was in charge. She was about the same age as Pon but she was backed by her cousin. She was the smarter one anyway, and Alexis knew it. Plus she was way better at dealing with people- something Alexis was not great at.
