Sipping her cappuccino quietly, Zora sat back and waited patiently, and somewhat anxiously, for Jude to arrive. It had been ages since she had talked or even seen him, partly because she wasn't sure he wanted or was ready to listen to her apology, and partly because she hadn't wanted to cause any waves between Broen and Jude. Her philosophy had been out of sight, out of mind, and hoping to hell things would eventually right themselves out somehow... which, thankfully, for a short while seemed to be the case.
However, that had not lasted too long, and hell was slowly breaking loose again. Zora had heard the terrible news about Halcyon, had heard Jude had lost his arm, which in her mind was distressing, and only added to her sense of wanting to somehow patch things up, and had met many of the newcomers and refugees... among them Broen's father, who had also come to visit her, setting off alarm bells that something was up. And despite Broen's assurances when she told him about the visit, she was worried that he might not be as safe as he thought, or as equipped or able to "handle it" as he told her.
Frederick's visit was also the last straw that had made Zoraida put away her pride, and quiet shame, and send Jude a message, hoping they could talk. He was the only one she knew that she could safely talk to, and she was hoping that, even if he still couldn't forgive her for what happened, he might be able to put aside that mistrust for his friend's sake.
