"Absolutely do not take your gun," Jude advised. "Having a gun sets a precedent that you went there with a fight in mind. But more importantly, he's almost definitely better with guns then you are, and you don't want to have a gun in play when you aren't the best person at getting a hold of it."

The month or two of training she had max wouldn't equal his lifetime of experience for sure.

"Go there to talk. I don't think he's going to jump you or anything. At worst he'll just turn you away."

"I gotta agree with the Boyscout. Though, word of advice. Keep a little water in your hand. Move it around. Keep your powers working low key. If you can't use them anymore, put yourself on alert. It means he's shut them off."

Broen chewed on his lip and turned away the server when they showed up to see if he wanted a drink. Once the three of them were alone again, he leaned forward a bit more.

"Whatever happens. Whatever he says or does. Please tell me first. I've been..." he paused, sighing heavily. "I've been wanting to just confront him again. On my own terms. But I don't want to give him the satisfaction of thinking- I don't even know what..."

Zora frowned slightly at Broen's suggestion and warning but nodded as she accepted what was told to her, taking the advice to heart. She had not forgotten that Gallant could turn off all her powers, but Broen's words made her realise that she'd have to be cautious, and astute as well.

"Of course," she said, completely understanding his need to know what his father had told her, "In fact, why don't you both come, wait somewhere nearby, if you want?" Zora suggested as she looked from Broen to Jude.

She also didn't want to admit that she'd probably feel better knowing they were somewhere nearby. The idea of facing someone who could turn off her powers was daunting, since even at her worst, Zora could have still used her magic if in a pinch. The idea of having to defend herself using brute force, if push came to shove, was not something she really relished, although, she also knew that she could and would if she had to.

Oh, that was good advice about the water, and Jude immediately ran a mental checklist for what he could do that was equivalent to check, before realizing he didn't have to. The moment he stopped registering Frederick's name and powers, that was that.

"There's a park not far from the apartment complex," Jude said. "Just a little one. I've been there with Gabe before. Why don't me and- Broen and I hang out there while you do the thing. We can meet up after and talk about it."

He considered for a moment talking to Gabe about it, and then decided that the idea of intruding on his boyfriend's personal space to deal with Frederick Crawford was an awful idea.

"Park. Good neutral space, Public enough he wouldn't dare do anything. I mean... that sounds fine. I've got no problems there." Broen sounded less and less interested as these plans wore on, the inflection in his voice slowly eroding into a mumbling monotone. He rubbed at his face, pushing the emotional exhaustion and wear and tear away. Sitting up a little straighter, he put his elbows on the table.

"Whatever happens, I think at some point I'm going to have to call him. Set up a meeting of my own. I don't like it either, him being all vanished like this. I'd uh-" he paused, grimacing ever so slightly, "I'd appreciate it if one of you could be there with me when I do it. Even if you're not there there."

Zora glanced at Jude worried-like, obviously, Broen was more preoccupied than he even realized. "Love, I am not meeting Frederick in the park, I am going to his place, apartment. You and Jude are waiting somewhere close by. The park Jude just suggested," she explained patiently. Then,

"I will go. I can wait and hide in the background somewhere, in the shadows unnoticed," she reminded him. "I can even take Jude and we can both be there if you prefer," she offered as she looked questioningly at Jude to see if he wanted to join her. She had not thought the Shadow's ability would be all that useful, but she was seeing now that it definitely had its uses.

He was super out of it. Super, super out of it.

"Easy enough for me to be there in flesh and blood. Frederick isn't stupid enough to touch me, knowing who my dad is, and he probably already guesses whose side I'm on."

The way he said side was intended almost mockingly, but when he thought about it, it sunk in that... no. That it was true. There were sides in this conflict, and Jude had absolutely picked one.

"I don't think we should put it off. I think we should just... do it. Zora goes and talks to him. We'll sit in the park. Zora'll report back with what happened. We'll decide what to do from there. That sound alright?"

Broen blinked, suddenly aware that he had misunderstood. "Oh, oh. Sorry, I thought- never mind." Giving his face one last rough scrub with his hands, he nodded slowly along with the plan that the two of them were formulating. "That sounds- yeah. That sounds fine I guess. Jude and I will wait until..."

He sighed and stood up. "On second thought I need coffee. I'll be right back."

Zora nodded at Broen's words seemingly accepting his explanation. However, when he was out of earshot, she turned to Jude and smiled wanly. "He's not fine, is he?" she asked, extremely concerned now.

Broen was rarely distracted or off his game like he was today, and she feared it had to do with his father being around. Even when he had lost his powers, he was not as unfocused as now or visibly preoccupied.

"I agree though, let's do this as soon as possible. Today, now, tomorrow...whenever," she said with decision, just wanting to get this over as soon as possible, so they could find out what was going on and help Broen.

"He is super not fine," Jude agreed once he was out of earshot. "I think he's trying not to make a big deal of it, but it obviously is. The faster this is done, the less time he'll have to stew in his own juices."

Jude was sort of worried about that. Sort of worried that Broen was going to do something he'd regret if left to his own devices.

"When he gets back, we can go right now. No buildup. The more buildup, the worse it'll be. Better to be casual and impulsive and not build it up in your head."
