Charlotte frowned when she caught Leo's shiver. "I'm happy too. Have you been happy here?" It didn't seem right to further discuss a topic that was heading towards a potentially triggering direction for Leo. If he wasn't hurt already.

She stood up and stretched, only to sit down on the couch in a slouch. "I haaaate how strict everything is. School, schedules, how to talk to people. But the people I have talked to are soooo sweet and fun! A lot of them are helping me with school too... You have the quick learning thing, right?"

"I do, yeah." He said with a stiff nod. "School has actually been quite easy for me, thanks to that. The classwork, at least. People though..."

His lips pulled tight briefly.

"They...I do struggle with talking to people as well, actually. Even if the people I've met have been nice to me too."

That finally gets a small smile out of him.

"I've even made a few friends, which I wasn't expecting to do so easily."

"We should help each other! I'm defective, so I don't have any quick-learning stuff." She paused for a moment before widening her eyes. "Oops! I'm not supposed to say I'm defective.

"Anywaaaays, I'm really good at making friends. You can help me with my schoolwork and I'll help you with talking to people."

"Defective..?"

He raised his eyebrow, the gears already turning in his mind again. The fact the company didn't get rid of her as soon as they realised there was something wrong with her was, he supposed, another small blessing.

"Well, I....I suppose if you're as good at making friends as you say you are I'll appreciate the help." He allows himself to give her another small smile. "And I don't mind at all helping out with schoolwork in return."

Charlotte slowly nodded at Leo's question, wondering if she needed to clarify what she meant. But it looked like he understood enough to keep the conversation rolling.

"That's great! It'll be reeeal easy for you. You'll get it done just like," she snapped her fingers, "that. Which means more time for me to give you friend lessons! Liiiike, clothes! You'll need cuter clothes. People like being around cute people."

He blinked, taking a moment to look down at himself, then the jacket he usually wore, draped over on the bed. His expression seemed confused. "What's wrong with my clothes..?"

Leo's wardrobe was, for the most part, extremely boring. The most interesting thing he owned was the cap, and that's only because its shape fit his ears comfortably while still hiding them.

"I...wasn't really trying to stand out. I picked stuff I thought would help me blend in with the school more."

"Nothing if they make you happy," she replied reassuringly, "but how will possible friends notice you if you don't stand out? Clothes are a first impression into someone's personality. Like mine! I wear a lot of onesies because I always want to be comfortable wherever I sleep."

Reflecting on her words, she stuck out her bottom lip to blow the shaggy bangs out of her face. "Too bad I can't wear them at school. I should go to college so I can wear whatever I want."

He scratched his head. "Onesies do sound comfortable I suppose...and it's not like I've gotten to, well, pick my own clothes before."

The uniforms were easy, at least. He was definitely used to having to stick to some vague dress code, so it wasn't so much of a switch for him. Eventually, after a moments thought, he looked back to her.

"If I were to dress...uh, cute, I suppose, what would you suggest?"

Charlotte perked up, excited to impart her wisdom on a fellow KEM0. "Welll... People find a lot of things cute. What I've noticed the most are, mmm... pastel colors, oversized clothes... Oh! Humans love animals. Before here, sometimes the scientists would bring me clothes with animals on them. They had giant heads or giant eyes or both! They were usually dogs. Soo... actually, we have it easier! Our animal traits make us even cuter. People see me and go, 'A cute dogs! I want to pet her,' and then I let them pet me."

The wisdom they actually had wasn't all that impressive. When it came down to it, Charlotte was used to her own way of dressing. She would never wear frilly clothing. Too complicated. Nor would she limit herself to an aesthetic. As long as it was comfortable, she would wear it. More often than not, people found her sloppiness charming.

Leo considered this. Naturally, he was aware of what he was made for, aware that he was a product designed to be appealing. He was cute when he cleaned up and made an effort to be presentable, the cat features only added to that.

This was at the bottom of his priorities. Playing up his NEK0 features like that would basically be playing into his intended functions, and he'd hate to do that here and now. He didn't want to be seen as cute, didn't want to be seen as the same little catboy he'd been before he came here. It'd just make him be seen as someone easy to take advantage of, as far as he was concerned.

But, she did say that he should do it, and his compulsions wouldn't stop bothering him if he didn't at least give it thought, even if her direction wasn't all that specific.

"...I guess that's the kind of thing you enjoy?" He asked. "Being all, um, petted and such?"
