Charlotte was told to get dressed up for her new roommate, which barely meant anything to her. Take a shower, detangle her hair (what was the point when it naturally tangled?), and put on normal clothes. Not the most comfortable outfit, but it did the job. She could switch to pajamas when she got inside.

She was lucky that she had very little to move. Charlotte arrived at her new dorm wearing a backpack and holding a suitcase on wheels, each filled with her clothes, school supplies, and some snacks she hadn't eaten yet. After confirming this was the correct dorm number, she knocked gently and called out, "Leo? This is Charlotte. I'm your roommate."

From what she knew, Leo was a male NEK0. It was a little exciting, living with someone who already had so much in common with her. She didn't have to start from scratch. There was already potential for so many conversations!

Despite being aware his new roommate would be moving in today, Leo somehow put even less effort into looking presentable then Charlotte did, opening the door with his characteristically dishevelled look. He left his usual hat on his bed, seeing as hiding his origin wasn't necessary in this case. His one eye peered curiously over her, noting the ears and other features.

"Hello, Charlotte, I'm Leo," He said, flat expression on his face. He opened the door and stepped aside to let her in. "Feel free to...get settled in."

Living with another NEK0 - or KEM0 in this case - wasn't the biggest change from what he was used to. He shared rooms with others plenty of times before. Still, the circumstances were definitely different now, maybe it'd help him acclimatise better, living with another like him.

Charlotte entered before she said hello. She didn't say it at all, actually. "Oh wow. If I knew you were going to dress comfortable, I would've too. But our dorm parent said I should look presentable." She sighed and dropped her stuff on the couch.

Laying down on the floor in front of it, she looked up towards Leo with a smile. "There are jokes about cats and dogs not getting along. I hope we get along!" Her tail repeatedly hit against the carpeted floor.

If he was at all bothered by the lack of greeting he gave no sign of it, he simply stayed standing, observing her with the same curious gaze. His eyes lingered on the ears and the tail as it beat the ground. Those were clearly a little unusual to him.

"I hope we do as well," He said, before trying to mirror the smile back at Charlotte. It didn't come to his face as easy as it did for her, and after a short awkward moment, he returned to that resting bitch face.

"Have you been at the academy long?" He asked, curious. "You seem...a lot more at ease than I'd think."

Charlotte could tell Leo was tense. Or unhappy. He didn't look very happy, actually. She frowned a little, her tail pausing to lay against the floor, the smiled upon being asked a question. The tail went back to dusting the floor.

"I've been at the academy longer than I've been alive! I came here in late May. I think that makes me experienced here. Are you okay?" Her smile relaxed as she looked at Leon with a concerned expression.

"I'm fine," He replied, a little too fast to sound natural. He was more focused on the first thing she said. She was...young, he realised. Not in the sense that she was just a child, but unlike the others he'd met she wasn't even a year old.

"I arrived around the same time..." He continued, making a visible effort to relax, though his tailed waved from left to right behind him, giving away how pensive he was. He eventually decided it was best not to beat around the bush. "They must have rescued you straight from one of the trading posts, right?"

Charlotte wasn't convinced and it showed. Her expression stayed, but if Leo wasn't going to push the subject further, nor would she. She was good at telling emotions. In the lab, she was there to listen to many people complain about their lives. She was also good at knowing when to stop. The times she tried to push unwanted help left her hurt in the end.

"I was rescued from a facility, actually. I lived in a lab. Although..." her smile took on a cheeky look, "I like to think I saved myself. I helped provide a scout information on my lab and that helped other scouts raid it. If I didn't help, who knows what could have happened." Now she simply looked proud.

That got a little more than a raised eyebrow out of him.

"You did? really?"

If that were the case, he was impressed, and his expression did nothing to hide it. The fact she was able to help escape her situation at all was enough for him to give her a level of respect. Despite all his rage, he couldn't do anything to get out of his cage.

"That's...good. Great, actually."

It also meant she likely avoided the worst parts of the NEK0 experience, he concluded, though he decided not to voice that one. It was uncomfortable topic of discussion even with other NEK0, not to mention one like Charlotte who might not understand at all.

Charlotte's face relaxed. Keeping up a cheeky, confident look for any longer would be tiring. She wasn't the kind of person to hold onto those feelings for long, even if Leo's expression was pleasing to see.

"I think so too. Do you know Angelo Genovese? He's a scout who pretended to purchase me. I gave him information to help with the raid when he asked, then he handled everything else. He's a very nice man." She paused, wearing a dreamy expression. "Before I knew about the plan, I was worried he wouldn't buy me. The man advertising the products thought someone of his status deserved something better. I was lucky he was a scout or I may have been passed over."

"We haven't met, no." He shook his head, finally taking a moment to sit down on the bed behind him, relaxing a little as he spoke more. "I...wasn't really as aware of what was happening when I got picked up by the scouts. Thing's were a lot more...complicated for me."

The specifics of that time were hazy, all he could really remember was the pain of his recent attempt at execution, the scientists talking of repurposing what was still functioning within his body. He closed his eyes, a small shiver of visible discomfort passing through him briefly before he went on.

"I might not be here at all if it wasn't for them." He said simply, fidgeting with his hands. "I'm glad they're looking for us, giving the circumstances."
