"Mon dieu... this definitely needs a lot more work than I thought," Celeste murmured to herself as she gingerly walked over the broken floorboards in the old building she had recently purchased. It was a large Victoirian style property set over three floors with a brickwork porch, ornate ceilings, and narrow hallways. The windows had stained around the edges that prismed through the rooms, and each room had a fireplace and hardwood floors that desperately needed to be replaced or refinished. It was a lovely place, but it needed a lot of work, more than she had realised when she had wandered through it with the estate agent and hopelessly fallen in love with it. It even had a large backyard with a few fruit trees and a cobblestoned path that lead to a gazebo off to one side.

Her initial idea had been to convert the place into a warm inviting space where she could live, and with some luck, bring in some foster children - or at least have a place where people felt safe, be together, have parties and could just hang out. Oh, yes, Celeste had big ideas, though sometimes, she had to admit, too big - like now.

She wondered what Lux would say when she showed him this. She had told him about the idea she had one day - before she had actually made the purchase - when she saw him downtown, and that maybe, if he wanted he could lend her a hand, or offer some suggestions.

"He is going to think I'm losing it, yes indeed..." she laughed good-naturedly as she moved through the house, exploring it while waiting for Lux to arrive and check out the property.

Lux was one of those people who just liked to help out in whatever way was possible. It was down to that, and his curiosity, that he read a lot about the new planet he resided on. He would read of the culture, the wildlife and how to carry out certain trades. Being a guest in Gryphon's home, Lux felt guilty for not providing anything in return for his hospitality. As a result, he did jobs here and there for people, earning a small wage to put towards rent to pay his flatmate.

It so happened that when Lux was grocery shopping (mainly just heading into town to pick up a couple of things like the herbal tea Gryphon seems to like) that he ran into Celeste. Being friendly and sociable to all, Lux began talking with her when it was mentioned that she had purchased a new house that was in dire need of renovating. Being the man he was, he offered his service.

Walking down the street towards her new home, his trusty companion, Leora, encircling him as he went along, Lux thought about the promise he had made. He had no real experience in decorated and his sense of decor was different from that of people from Earth. It made him doubt of the use he would actually be to Celeste. Either way, he was happy to lend a hand in any way he possibly could. After all, he had read books on the matter...

Climbing the steps to the building, Lux took in its appearance. The brickwork looked tatty and dirty but it was nothing that a bit of scrubbing couldn't fix. He paused at the door, knocking it softly three times. The glow that irradiated from Leora lit up the porch as they waited for someone to come to the door.

As she came down the stairs from the second floor, Celeste heard a very faint rapping noise coming from the entrance way. Realising then that it must be the front door, she hurried down the stairs, or hurried as fast as she could without falling on her backside, Celeste had the rather horrible habit of wearing very high heels to compensate for being on the short side.

"Coming!" she called out just as she stepped onto the main landing, there her foot suddenly caught on a loose floorboard, made her teeter and almost lose her balance. "Merde..." she yelled in exasperation as she stopped and unlodged her heel. "I have got to get some flatter shoes..." she sighed, remembering then the door.

Opening the front door, she saw it was Lux - and his companion, Leonara. Celeste wasn't exactly too sure what Leonora was, but since Manta Carlos was a place of curiosities and oddities, she just accepted that Lux had a luminescent orb as a companion friend pet...

"Oh! You made it!" she remarked happily, glad to see him, glad he hadn't got lost and just excited to hear any ideas or suggestions he might have regarding this whole crazy idea she had. Celeste was always interested in what people thought about things and the ideas they had whether they were different to hers or reaffirmed them in some way.

"Do come in, both of you, please..." she declared, waving a hand gesturing for them to come in while standing back a little to allow him and Leonora into the house. "The place is in some serious need of work," she admitted with a sheepish smile, her gaze straying to the warped floorboards and the walls covered in peeling wallpaper as she ushered them into the foyer.

"I really hope I'm not imposing ..." she said as she flashed him a warm smile.

Lux chuckled a bit to himself as he heard the commotion when Celeste was making her way. It sounded as though she was coming from upstairs, yet still, it took longer than he thought it would have done. He greeted Celeste with a warm smile as the door opened. "It is good to see you again." Though the two had only met the once, Lux greeted her as though she were an old friend.

The second she invited them in, Leora shot through the door, speeding through every room. All that could be seen was a trail of light as she darted around the house. Leora was incredibly energetic at all times, not to mention mischevious. Lux gave a small smile and apologised for his companion as he looked around the place himself. It really was falling apart. A lot of work was needed to make the place look presentable as he presumed it once did.

"Not at all. I am happy to help in any way I can." His gaze wandered to what was best to do with such a task. "How have you been keeping?" he asked, always one for pleasantries.
"I think the best place to start would be to clean the place up first," he thought, tapping his finger to his chin. After the place was clean, that's when the two could really get to work.

"No, don't worry about it at all, let her explore ..." Celeste laughed as Leonora zipped and zoomed in what seemed like curious excitement through the house. In a way, it made her happy to see the orb do that... she didn't know why, but Leonora reminded her of a happy little pup bouncing around excitedly.

"I am well," she told Lux, "Busy with school and grades, planning classes," she confessed, not sure she had mentioned working at the Academy or not to him. She was very chatty at times and easily forgot what she had and hadn't told people.

Hearing his suggestion, Celeste grinned, "That is a very good place to start," she agreed. "I brought some garbage bags, a broom, some old rags, a bucket and a few other odds and ends..." she stated as she moved to the room right off the hall where they were now and where she had placed the things she had brought with her. The room looked like it could have easily been the main sitting rooms in the old house.

"Broom? Garbage bag? Or... " she said after picking up a broom and some black plastic bags, "Maybe you prefer dusting scary spider webs out of the corners." she said teasingly indicating to the feather type duster on top of a bucket and some rags,

"That is good to hear," he replied to Celeste saying she was well. Lux liked it when people were happy; seeing someone in distress upset him. So often, the reason why people felt that way could be avoided and prevented. He made sure that he could try his best to change their emotion to a more positive one. "I imagine your line of work can be challenging." He considered that teaching would be something that he would struggle with but the idea of shaping the lives of young people inspirational.

"I am happy to do any role you ask of me," he said with a grin. There was no chore or job that he would not try to complete unless it involved the suffering of another. "I can take the broom," he suggested, picking one up. Cleaning the entire house would become tedious and take up too much time - for a normal person at least. Being an embodiment of light, Lux was also able to travel at such speeds.

"I think we can speed this process up a little bit." Entering the room which would make a pretty sizable living room, Lux quickly got to work, sweeping faster than most could keep up with. He did not go too fast; too much friction ran the risk of causing a fire. Still, he was but a blur to the naked eye. After he had finished, every room in the house had a neat pile of dust and rubble by the doorway to make it easier for the trash to be collected. Leora continued to zoom around the place as Lux was back with Celeste, broom in hand.

"Oh, my..." Celeste remarked, eyes wide, half in shock, the other very impressed. She had not expected Lux to sweep the whole house so quickly. He had done everything in less time than she needed to make a cup of tea. "That was very impressive, you know..." she said to him with a smile as she accepted the broom back. Placing it then against the wall.

"I almost feel bad in asking you to do anyt¡hing else," she admitted as she looked around the room, thinking that it looked better already. At least you could see the floors now and they weren't covered with dirt and other debris.

"How about,... you just sweep up the piles of dirt into the black bags, and I'll start washing the windows, afterward maybe we can take a break, maybe have some tea?" she suggested to Lux before she headed to the kitchen to fill a bucket with warm water, vinegar and soap and threw in a cloth. Then she went back to the front room with her bucket, dragged a ladder over to the one window, kicked off her shoes, and climbed up the ladder, balancing the bucket of water as she did.

"Not at all, it is my pleasure to help you out. After all, this is starting to become somewhat of an occupation," he explained. Cleaning and renovating a house was no chore to Lux, he was happy to provide his services whilst also gaining experience and knowledge from it. This new world, whilst primitive in comparison to his home, was rather interesting; all the culture and aesthetic intrigued him.

"Gladly," he replied with a smile. "And a break sounds like a good idea." Lux began to sweep the piles into the bags as Celeste washed the windows. He did this at a normal pace since he did not want to seem as though he was showing off. Cleaning was a tiresome job and he thought that getting it over with quickly would be best. Leora came darting into the room, changing form midair into a kitten as she bounded along the wooden floor. She made a pounce for the garbage bags, though her plan was thwarted by Lux, quickly moving it all aside as to avoid any dust and debris escaping again. He was used to her mischevious ways now.

After her glow dimmed, pouting, Leora reformed into an eagle and perched on the top of a door, observing. After collecting the grime from the last room into the bag, Lux set his broom down with the pile of bags. He had no need to eat or drink but living with Gryphon, he had become quite accustomed to the taste of tea.

Celeste smiled at Lux's words. Happy to hear she was not imposing or asking too much of him. She had been afraid that maybe she had, in her enthusiasm, to get the house repairs underway, and hopefully finished in a few weeks or so.

A while later, Celeste climbed down off the ladder and started washing the grime off of the bottom half of the windows until the windows in the rooms started to let the light in properly as the dirt was wiped away. Finishing a few minutes after Lux, she met him in the hallway, coming out of one of the rooms. There she saw Leora perched, in a glowing and very beautiful eagle form, at the top of one of the doors.

"Mon dieu!" Celeste exclaimed in wonder, having never seen the orb like this before. "She's beautiful, tres magnifique..." she breathed, slipping into her native French. Looking at Lux, Celeste smiled, "She's magnificent... I didn't know she could change forms..." Celeste admitted in awe as she put the bucket down.

"Can she change into more things?" Celeste asked curiously as she gazed up at the glowing eagle on her door.

A smile of pride grew upon Lux's face. "Yes, she is quite the sight, isn't she?" Leora had been his pet ever since he was young and she had never been far from him ever since. Sometimes that was a bad thing due to the hijinks she got into, though there was never any malicious intent behind her mischevious behaviour. Even he was in awe of her abilities.

"She can change into any small creature. She needs to have seen it before any replication is possible," he explained. "But it is quite a spectacle to behold." As if she knew they were talking about her, Leora held her eagle head high before soaring around the room, a trail of orange light flowing from her wings and tail.

Shaking his head with a smile at his companion showing off, he turned back to Celeste. "So, would you like me to put the kettle on?" he asked. She did say that they were to have a break after the sweeping and window cleaning but he was quite happy to carry on the job if she wanted to. After all, he had no need of rest or food.
