Time Out from Campaigning

Liliana laughed and shrugged at his question before glancing around the room, there were no other psychopomps in the room, but that was because they were mostly humans or human-like entities in the room. Turning to look out the window though, she spotted two. A small sparrow on a park bench and a raven on a lamp post.

"There are two more of us..." she told Eurys pointing out the two birds," You won't be able to recognise us most of the time, that's the idea though, to be unassuming," she explained.

"Besides, who wants to know that a spirit guide is in the room with them, most people would assume we are there to take their soul or their about to die."

Then when Eurys talked about his sister, Liliana smiled again. "I'm sure she will be fine. Especially since she clearly has such a wonderfully supportive brother," she said, having noticed the way he talked about his sister warmly.

"It's natural for siblings to be that way," she smiled at Eurys understandingly. "I am an only child myself, I have a few close friends and cousins, but I envy those that have a brother or sister they can count on."

Hearing his words spoken softly but heard because of a sudden general lull in the coffee shop's patrons conversations, Liliana looked at Eurys and smiled and nodded. She didn't know his story but it was a familiar situation here on the island - refugees from other dimensions, children who had been abandoned by their families...

Liliana just shrugged her shoulders a little and smiled, "There aren't that many only children around to be honest," she admitted. "In fact, I only know of a few, or well, people who grew up totally alone like I did," she explained. Lily did know a few others but they had cousins around or step-siblings of some sort.

"I am sure your sister wasn't an angel either all the time," she laughed, "I honestly think that we are all little terrors in our own ways when growing up." she pointed out, knowing she had also had a rebellious phase.

Liliana very briefly noticed the scowl, but it was gone so fast, that she wasn't sure she hadn't imagined it.

"No, that's quite alright." Liliana answered, not at all offended by the question. "I do actually miss Aberystwyth sometimes," she told Eurys. "But luckily, we do get to visit it from time to time," she explained. "My grandparents live there, and both my parents grew up there."

Liliana agreed wholeheartedly with what Eurys said. "What about you?" she asked very curiously. "How often do you and your sister go back home?" she asked, assuming that because they had asked her about her home, that they too had a place to go back too.
