Yoka arched an eyebrow. Okay, first time he was hearing about them. That meant that, at some point, she was going to be cooking this guy pancakes. Maybe that's what she'd do for the staff next: a pancake appreciation day.

But that brought her to a follow-up question.

"What about waffles? Or...oh god, crepes?" she rolled the French off her tongue easily. She wanted to ask, what do you eat, but that would be rude.

"Okay, so, you can start when you would like in the next two weeks," Yoka explained. She looked serious but then her expression broke into a smile. "But there's a condition for your hiring. You must try pancakes first. Does this sound fair?"

Devias could practically infer that the wheels in Yoka's mind were turning when he saw that arced brow. What was she planning, he wondered.

"Waffles? Crepes? I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I haven't heard of those either. Is it safe to assume that these two are also breakfast foods people here normally consume?" While Devias was indeed doing his research on this world, it mostly revolved around plant and animal life, as well as the culture. That included food, but they were more ceremonial. Outside of that, he only knew what was served at the school, and the stores and cafes outside of it. Yet he never ran into these three things before, strangely enough.

Starting within the next two weeks sounded alright to him. It gave him time to shift around his routine so his working hours wouldn't be troubled. However, it was strange to him that there would be a condition so... well, strange for a lack of better word. "Very well. I'll look for a recipe and try some. Shall I hold off signing until then?"

"No," Yoka said. "There's no need to hold off signing. Just let me know what day you intend to start, and I'll have pancakes waiting for you."

She laughed then and took another sip of her drink.

She was relaxed now, especially since the formal decision had been made. It was simply up to him to call and tell her the day. He interested her, and Yoka liked to be interested. She said, "Unless you have any questions for me?"

With everything sorted and nothing particularly damning in the contract, Devias placed his signature on the line and handed it back to Yoka. "I'll be able to start on Friday," he said. "And I'm grateful for your hospitality, Miss Yoka."

Was it normal for employers to give their new employees certain treats when they start? That'll certainly be an important addition to his studies of this world. This seemed to be the last part of his interview. He'd say everything went smoothly. He was satisfied with his employer's personality, and was pleased that she seemed like a pleasant person to be working for. No real red flags came to mind, which was always a good sign.

"Oh yes, I do have something I need clarified to make sure I did not miss anything. Will I be stationed here for the entirety of my hours? And will I be allowed to open a portal to my station, or do I need to use a specified entrance? I will also need to see where your onsen is located, otherwise I won't be able to open a portal there."

"Right, Right," Yoka said. She picked herself up from the table and motioned for him to follow her. Yoka made her way to the center of the bar, where she slipped between a surprisingly disguised slip inbetween the shelves. It wasn't magic, just an optical illusion. She motioned for Devias to follow her.

Inside the center of the rounded bar was the one-way mirrors that allowed whoever was inside to see out. There was a rounded staircase that went up to the office that allowed Yoka a 360 view of the club, and a ramp that went down into the dancer's area.

"So, mostly, the dancers area leads connects to a few tunnels. one goes across the street, to the Asian Fusion restaurant across the street. You can enter from there if you choose, or manifest or portal right here," Yoka explained. There are doors that are marked out to stages. Most of the times when there's an issue, we get the dancer back to the downstairs room. There's a private room off to the side for examinations, procedures, what have you. We can have it stocked with whatever you need for your shift."

Yoka thought about something else and then said, "We also have a locker for you here. I'll get you a key for your first day."

As for the onsen...that would require a bit of prep work.

"It's a bit of a drive, or a hike, as it's in the woods," Yoka explained. "Schedule a day with me and I'd be delighted to have you there as well."

She didn't need to keep him off floor there, for one thing.

Devias promptly followed his new employer to some shelves in the bar that had a hidden passage to a room which can view the outside. One way mirrors? This was a useful design for this kind of work. He could see if someone had an accident. And there was an upper floor as well. A very good vantage point.

Yoka explained the function of this part of the club, and the secret tunnel that connected to a restaurant across the street. While she allowed him to open a portal directly into his station, Devias thought it would be a good idea to get acquainted with the affiliated establishment and get used to the layout.

He was also going to get a locker of his own. Not really needed as he could have a personal storage through his portals, however, now that he considered it, there could be unintended consequences. The locker can be useful after all. "Thank you, Miss Yoka.

"I can visit Friday morning if that's alright. But otherwise, Saturday or Sunday will also work."

Yoka considered the dates. She pulled out her mobile phone and opened up the calendar app, which she had to admit that she liked. She'd used other electronics for this before, but thank god for smart phones. It was better than having to carry around an actual planner, which she still did out of habit.

"Friday morning can work," she said. "If you're so inclined, you're more than welcome to even test out the services and to see what they're like."

Yoka could now assure that everything had been tested to the fullest extent, and she was reasonably certain there would be no more disasters like the one with Murphy. Hell, maybe she'd have to bring Devias along the next time she took Murphy....assuming he'd even go back.

"I'm looking forward to working with you," Yoka said. She extended her hand for a shake, and then laughed. "Normally now I'd give you a key, but I don't think you'll need one."

"Friday morning it is then," he affirmed with a nod. "And thank you for your generosity." Hot springs weren't something Devias would go crazy for. He was attuned to the cold, and he expected that being submerged in hot water wasn't such a pleasing experience. While he enjoys his fair share of hot beverages, he felt out of place surrounded by extreme warmth. The water might even freeze over.

But if he had to, he could give it a try. He'd be lying if he said that he wasn't even a bit curious to the experience. This was something he could hold off.

"I too am looking forward to working with you, Miss Yoka," and that wasn't just to sound formal. Yoka showed herself to be a pleasant person to work for. He shook her hand firmly.
